After 17 was absorbed by Cell, 16 was badly damaged. Tien jumps in to delay Cell from absorbing 18, but 18 is slow to get away.

Tien stalled Cell long enough for 18 and 16 to get away to a safe hiding place and then Goku uses his instant transmission technique to rescue both Tien and a barely conscious Piccolo to safety. what's more is that Trunks and Vegeta have finished their turn in the hyperbolic time chamber.

Cell, frustrated that he cannot find 18 begins blowing up islands 1 by 1. Meanwhile, Vegeta is on his way to where Cell is with Trunks in tow. Goku and Gohan have just entered the hyperbolic time chamber and like Trunks, Gohan cannot believe that its a room with nothing in it but an empty space and the essentials for training.

Vegeta arrives in the nick of time to save 18 from being destroyed by Cell and powers up. He is proving that he is much stronger than he was two days ago.

Vegeta is proving to have the upper hand in the fight against Cell, but because he is trying to satisfy his bottomless ego, he may just let Cell absorb 18.

Vegeta continues to beat Cell and even acknowledges Trunks as someone just about as strong as him, but Cell tempts the saiyan by suggesting that Cell absorb 18 and then they resume. Trunks thinks that Cell is playing on Vegeta's ego, which unfortunately for Trunks, is bottomless.

Krillin finds 18 first, but because he loves her, he smashes the device that would immobilize her. Vegeta was convinced by Cell to let Cell absorb 18 just so that Cell would quit whining after Vegeta beats Cell to a pulp. Trunks gets in the way of what Vegeta and Cell agreed on just as Cell finds 18.

Trunks tries to stop Cell from absorbing the android, but Vegeta knocks Trunks down. Cell gets the peanut gallery out of the way and then absorbs the android. The Nameks on a distant planet fear that the universe is doomed.

After a dramatic scene for the transformation, which includes Master Roshi's suffering a tidal wave, Cell at last reveals his perfect body. Krillin goes all out against him, but his attacks proved ineffective. Even Trunks took a go at Cell, but like Krillin, the power was like nothing to Cell. Then with one mighty kick Krillin was near death.

Cell allows Vegeta to create a warm up fight for Cell, which makes Vegeta blind with rage. When Cell got serious, Vegeta was no match for Cell.

Vegeta loses his fight against Cell, even though he tried everything that he could. Once Vegeta was unconscious, Trunks began to power up, thus gaining Cell's attention.

Trunks distracts Cell so that Krillin could get Vegeta out of there. Everyone outside of the time chamber of our heroes save for Vegeta is impressed with the amount of power that Trunks has and hopes that Trunks will end Cell.

Trunks and Cell reveal their futures then they fight in the past hoping that it will either be peaceful or destroyed. Their powers are even though so it is hard to say who will win.

When Trunks has to admit defeat, Cell declares that he will hold a tournament in order to get as much pleasure out of the planet before he destroys it.
