Physical Description: Standing at 5'4", Tamsy is average but fit in build. She carries herself like she has someplace to be and she's running late, with a ground-gobbling walking stride and square-shouldered determination. She has an average to fair complexion, with some vicious Threadscore scars on her right thigh. Her mostly straight, scruffy hair (prematurely white) hangs to her butt when loose, parted in the center with thick shaggy bangs; she wears it pulled back and tightly braided when flying. She has a roundish face, big green eyes, and a big dumb smile; she laughs loudly and often, and speaks with a somewhat raspy voice, also loudly. Clothing-wise, Tamsy dresses fairly butch even in fancy garb, preferring trousers and shirts to dresses and gowns. Her favorite shirts are a bit oversized and in strong dark colors; her trousers tend to be comfortable enough for moving, tucked into a pair of well-worn boots.
Personality: If ever there was a poster girl for promoting the dragonrider life at High Reaches Weyr, it's Tamsy. Jovial and friendly, she loves klah more than life itself, and is a fixture at the night hearth laughing and drinking klah and talking shop with other riders or chatting with the Lower Caverns staff. She's a fun-loving woman in general, a bit too goofy sometimes, with a tendency to make silly comments at the least opportune times. This has gotten her some looks from some of the more serious riders, but she really doesn't care -- she is how she is, and she refuses at this point to change for anyone.
Tamsy's dedication to High Reaches and to being a dragonrider cannot be disputed, however. She is truly a product of her upbringing there: fierce in her convictions, blunt with her words when challenged, and deeply opinionated, she will argue tactics with other riders until she's blue in the face. Tamsy is bold and brash to outsiders from other Weyrs, proclaiming to all who will listen that High Reaches Told Y'all So, and that she would be more than happy to train those dragonriders on how to do things "the right way". Which of course is the High Reaches way. She is as fierce in fighting Thread as she is in supporting her Weyr; Thread is the Great Enemy of Pern, and the sole purpose of becoming a dragonrider is to defeat Thread. It is her ultimate raison d'etre.
At High Reaches, though, Tamsy is sometimes seen as being a bit on the lazy side (she calls it "practicing efficiency" or "economy of motion"). She won't put any more effort into doing something than she has to; no sense in making a thing more complicated than it has to be, right? In truth, she's extremely proactive in nature, in that she'll set things up so she has to spend minimum time or effort in doing a task, thus giving herself more time to either perform other duties or hang about sipping klah and enjoying life -- which she does, deeply. Being proactive makes more sense to her than being reactive, even though you can't be proactive when it comes to Thread. That was tried, back 1000 years ago, and it failed miserably, nearly killing F'nor and brown Canth. (Tamsy, by the way, feels great pride in being a brownrider like the legendary F'nor.)
Despite Tamsy's disinterest in sex, she willingly performs her duties during mating flights if Jevith is involved in them. And he involves himself a LOT. The result of a mating flight herself, she has a couple of kids running around the Weyr and being raised in the Creche as she was. She's not a doting mother type, but she is involved in her kids' lives to whatever degree they desire.

History: Tamsy was born and raised a weyrbrat at High Reaches Weyr. Her parents, brownrider T'sin and Lower Caverns cook Kelessy, sent her to the Creche early on but didn't just ignore her existence; they were as attentive as busy parents could be, playing with the girl and making sure her needs were being met. Tamsy was a fairly quiet and well-behaved child, and grew up happy and friendly with both adults and her fellow weyrbrats. When she reached age 14 she started standing for clutches and became just as friendly with the other Candidates, sometimes even helping them with their studies. She failed to Impress until she was 18, when a speckled brown hatchling came up to her on the Sands, announced that his name was Jevith, and asked her if she'd be his. Of course she said yes.
As a Weyrling, Tamsy asked a lot of questions. She wanted to know why certain things were done certain ways, sometimes getting into lengthy arguments with her instructors over Threadfighting tactics and techniques. Tamsy and Jevith did prove to be capable students during drills and maneuvers, though, even passing Between training without a hitch. Tamsy's father T'sin eventually transferred to Ista Weyr to retire and train dragonriders there, and her mother went with him. Upon graduation, Tamsy and Jevith were tapped for a fighting Wing and continued drilling for Threadfall, which was certain to happen one day.
That day came in Turn 3572. While the rest of Pern was caught unawares, Tamsy and her fellow High Reaches riders knew Thread was going to return and were prepared to battle the ancient enemy. Theory and games couldn't really prepare them for the real thing, and Tamsy got scored on her right leg and sat out some of the worst of the 'Fall being treated, which frustrated her tremendously. By the time it was over, devastation reigned across Pern. Tamsy wished they could have saved more holds and cots, but since High Reaches was the only Weyr at the time who could really fight Thread, they had done what they could. But now she and Jevith knew what they were up against, and have since become one of the fiercest fighting pairs at the Weyr.
Other: Tamsy has two firelizards: Fetch, a brown who lives up to his name, and Aurora, who looks like the dancing lights in the night sky.

Physical Description: average in size, muscular and lithe, fairly agile for a brown, with large, broad wings that gobble up the air. Jevith's flame is long and strong, and his stamina is excellent, as befitting a brown.
Personality: Jevith is one chill dragon. This brown is extremely laid back and easygoing toward his fellow dragons; he likes just about everyone, human and non-human alike. One of his favorite pastimes is music -- he loves to listen to the harpers play tunes at gathers around the Weyr and will often hum along with them. He is, however, as fierce as his rider is when it comes to fighting Thread and defending his Weyr both against Thread and against naysayers. Jevith gets very upset when other riders, those more hidebound than most, belittle His or treat her like less than an equal because she's a brownrider; he will communicate with the rider directly and give them an upbraiding, proclaiming that His is not only an excellent dragonrider, but far superior to the disparaging rider!
Despite Tamsy's lack of interest in amorous affairs, Jevith considers himself something of a lady-dragon's dragon and will participate in as many mating flights as he can. He's not fussy about whether she's a gold or green -- he loves them all, even though he has yet to catch a queen. Someday!
