▰▰▰ The Pale Citadel
The Pale Citadel is the capital of the Nohara Region ruled by the imperial lightning Hyuga clan. It is an immense mountain fortress that guards the only road large enough to transport an army from the Frost Country through the mountains of the Lightning Country. As such, it is the largest of the imperial lightning fortresses on the Lightning Country's border and the Pale Citadel acts as the first line of defense for Kumoito against siege. Most travelers do not need to travel through the Pale Citadel and can instead use the narrower Land of Floods roads system through the mountains. Within the outer wall of the Citadel resides the city of Tensei Sora, named in honor of Lord Kenshin, the progenitor of the tenseigan. Most of the citizens of Tensei Sora are miners and farmers in the mountains while the rest are employed by Lady Ada's various enterprises in Nohara. Tensei Sora is a fully sustained and wealthy city that acts as a trading point at the gateway of the Lightning Country. The second wall contains the barracks for the numerous Hyuga guards as well as garrisoned lightning imperial troops. Lord Kenshin commands the Hyuga guards and the Imperial Lightning legion within the walls. The Hyuga guards police the citadel and Tensei Sora while the Imperial Lightning legion is deployed throughout the empire to handle national security matters. The second wall also has one of the most secure prisons in the lightning country called the sky cells. Fuuinjutsu is used to prevent the use of chakra while the cells open up to the sky level where one wrong step will lead to the prisoner falling to their death. The freezing cold winds also continuously slam into the sky cells leading to a truly grueling experience.
The third innermost wall leads to the massively tall spires which house the Hyuga palace. The Tensei Palace is the residential portion for the Hyuga clan while the Palace of Justice is where the throneroom resides. The throneroom acts primarily as the Nohara's region's highest court where the lord grants audiences and hears the cases that were unresolved by the lower regional courts. The room itself has five hundred foot tall cathedral ceilings and a tall crystalline throne called the sky throne which towers fifty feet above the floor with marble steps that lead to the seat. The throne room is a nexus that leads to the various other living areas for the clan including the Hyuga clan chambers. Lightning Hyuga clansmen are often encouraged to join the citadel's guard or become royal guards or are sent for policing duties in the Arashigakure Police Department.
▰▰▰ The Nohara Region
The Nohara Region expands from the Lightning Country's border to Kumoito. The region contains multiple ports with Gaikotsu Bay to the north and Haran Bay to the south. Inland the area is extremely mountainous and cold to the west but gets significantly more temperate with valleys the further one travels from the border with the Frost Country. Nohara contains the merchant city of Seizan. There are numerous vassal clans of the Hyuga which contain judicial districts. The various courts of Nohara lead to the highest court at the citadel. Beyond the High Court of the Citadel is the imperial court in Kumoito and thus most local disputes are settled on appeal at the citadel.

• Kyūden | 80000 A kyuden is a feudal palace, of massive scale and fortification. Kyuden are rare in the countries, and there is only one kyuden per district, which may only be purchased by one Shokō. Shokō are akin to feudal princes, and are the de facto community leaders within their respective districts, whether or not this status has been sanctioned by the daimyo. These buildings typically hold over a few dozen rooms with chefs, maids, laborers and even soldiers within, as well as large yards, and often even entire forests or mountains encompassed by their individual territory.
• Tatami Room | 5000 Ryo The tatami room acts as a dojo. It additionally expands the owner's amount of Buki/Tai styles they can learn by [1] {Does not stack with multiple Tatami Rooms}
• Study Hall | 5000 The study hall acts as an academy and learning space in the home. It additionally expands the owner's amount of Nin/Gen/Etc they can learn by [10] {Does not stack with Multiple Study Halls}
• Clan Chamber | 15000 The clan chamber acts as a space for clan memorabilia and ceremonies. The Clan Chamber seals all jutsu use inside that is not relevant to the clan. Proves useful for putting lower clansmen in their place.
• Deluxe Kitchen | 7500 Lowers the time it takes for cooking missions and to produce food by [2] posts
• Personal Forge | 8000 Lowers the time it takes for weapon and armor smithing Crafting missions by [2] paragraphs.
• Personal Workshop | 8000 Lowers the time it takes for scroll crafting, enchantment, mechanism, technology, pharmacology, and toxicology Crafting missions by [2] paragraphs.
• Health Room | 5000 A health room is one operated by a nurse or even live-in doctor, with medical equipment, antibiotics and other medicines. These rooms can be used to perform transplant surgeries, and any home with one such room can give your character 100 chakra and 100 stamina as a permanent addition to their resource pools. This bonus is given only once and cannot exceed the 5,000 resource limit.
• Private Hot Spring | 8000 Accompanied by pure relaxation and the opportunity for meditation, without the interference of unwanted individuals, the hot spring allows for the relaxed shinobi to expand their mind and acquire [two] additional custom slots. {This benefit does not stack with visits to other private hotsprings}
• Barracks | 10000 Barracks House the Guards for an estate. To begin purchasing guards one must first purchase a Barracks. Per every [1000] Ryo spent a guardsman is stationed of a Rank equal to [X] per every [1000] Ryo spent up to [C]. These guardsmen do not leave the location they are assigned but have no limitations to their designs or skill sets. They also cannot use these skill sets to influence anything outside of their place of residence as it is a breach in contract. Even when forced or compelled to do so these guardsmen die of mysterious causes in such events.
• Watchtower | 12500 The Watchtower confers full sensory knowledge of anything and everything occurring in the Residence. The owner of the residence when in his residence may know all detailed information about his or her guests in regards to their bloodlines, chakra, and stamina totals and anything statistically. However, abilities that would evade sensory detection naturally are still effective. It is manned by Guardsmen of the appropriate paid Rank. Should these guardsmen die or become disabled this benefit is lost.
• Armory | 12500 The Armory allows the user to make 1 additional custom item that does not count against their custom item total. The armory also increases the rank of present Guardsmen by [1] and gives them access to weapons with elemental affinities.
• Treasury | 20000 The Treasury creates interest as you leave your money in the hands of intelligible market men. Every IRL [Week] the total amount of Ryo in a Treasury increase by [1.25x] the current amount inside. However, one should be careful as a Treasury is subject to being robbed and the owner losing all their assets inside.
• Siege Weapon | 7500 After Purchasing A Siege Weapon a Weapon on the residence is made. Starting at Rank [D] For every 5000 ryo spent thereafter the Siege Weapon gains [1]-rank in durability and Damage. The Weapon does not take any Chakra or Stamina to Utilize unless it produces effects with a Chakra Affinity or Attribute. They however, are limited to only 1 activation and then subject to a [1] post cooldown period to reload. Their attacks are always treated as [Simple] aside from when using Chakra. Every Siege weapon must be manned by a Guardsmen or RPC to be of use.
• Mining Rights | 25000 The rights to mine on plot of land made exclusively yours. Lowers the time for weapon and armorsmithing crafting missions by [2]. Every [1] IRL Week the user can claim 1,000 Ryo from the mine. Someone may steal buyout your rights by paying 35000 Ryo thus claiming all accrued profit since if it has yet to be claimed. • Prison | 10000-X What should be purchased instead of its lesser counterparts. Those that find themselves in the residencies prison will have all their techniques sealed and their stats reduced to 0. Complex and Spiritual attacks cannot be used. The sturdiness of these prison bars and walls is equal to [1] per every 10000 Ryo spent in its making Capping at S+ Overwhelming. A technique superior to its durability must be used to break out. These special cells, however, will always have a fault somewhere however, that fault when found treats the prison as being [1]-weaker than usual.

▱▰▱The Lord of the Pale Citadel did all in his power during his recent construction to avoid sullying the natural beauty of the mountain range. This was not a matter he would have concerned himself with prior to his devotion to Evergreen. Intensely pious but reserved, Kenshin became accustomed to meditating in the forest around the pale citadel. The pines of the mountainous trees were fragrant and soothing. Once the citadel was constructed he dedicated leftover resources to creating a small temple in the section of the forest he meditated in. It was outside of the walls of the citadel but still under Kenshin's watchful gaze. He wanted the temple to be among nature, as it should be. He stepped outside of the citadel's walls into the temple. Upon entry, he crowned his head with his ceremonial laurel wreath. Kenshin glanced around before praying quietly on his own at the altar of Evergreen. Once he was done he read some pages from the tome of the mother.
For the past few weeks, Kenshin had been slowly filling his temple with priests, templars, and inquisitors of the faith. He needed guidance and direction of his own as a novice in the faith. "Lord Kenshin." A member of the priesthood pulled him aside from his studying of the tome to speak with him. "Brother Kenshin. That's my name in these walls." The novice in the faith corrected the priest. Kenshin recognized his authority within the faith and did not wish to allow his political titles to influence his treatment within the temple. "Of course, brother. I hate to re-open the matter but I really must insist that you allow us into the Citadel's walls to bring more children into the faith." The priest's voice was kind but firm in his conviction that faith must not be silent. Kenshin nodded thoughtfully before responding. "I've meditated on this matter. I will allow you access to Tensei Sora for missionary works. However, you will not proselytize to the unwilling. The citizens are aware of my faith but I won't allow the aggressive preaching we see from other temples." Kenshin had initially rejected them because he was aware of the reputation of Evergreen missionaries for being over-zealous at times. However, after becoming more acquainted with the priests and other followers he decided to grant them permission. "I desire for all people to be among the mother's chosen children, brother. It is our duty to be loud and assertive in our love of the mother to nurture as many of her children as possible." It was traditional for many of Evergreen's faithful to spread the faith aggressively. Many saw it as their duty to claim as many children as possible into the religion. "Narrow is the gate to righteousness. All who were meant to be chosen will find their way to us eventually. My word on this matter is final." Kenshin bowed respectfully to the priest and although he was concerned the clergyman returned the respect in kind. Evergreen's followers widely accepted Kenshin as the mother's champion since the Kogarashi war. That title afforded Kenshin deep reverence and respect in the faith despite the sentinel's humble insistence that he should be treated as any other brother.
Once the conversation with the priest was concluded, Kenshin stepped away and sought out the templar. He was fortunate to have a knight templar protecting his recently-constructed temple. Kenshin was interested in performing additional works for the templar order of Evergreen. "What is the procedure for becoming a templar?" The lord asked rather directly to the knight templar. The knight wore heavy armor but also a crown of laurel on his head like Kenshin. "In addition to your other works as a brother you must work to ensure the safety of the temple and all followers. As Evergreen's champion, I'm sure you've already performed enough to be named a grand templar immediately." Kenshin shook his head fervently at this suggestion. "No, I will earn my place as any other templar would." The sentinel placed a great amount of thought into this decision. He was fully prepared to do the works and take the oath to guard Evergreen's temples and children with his life. Kenshin left the knight templar with a bow and accepted some additional tasks.
Kenshin began by escorting some followers to a nearby temple in Nohara. He was essentially acting as a bodyguard in this capacity. This was certainly a task that Kenshin had performed many times before. The followers were young missionaries being dispatched to a different temple to spread the word of the faith to that local community surrounding that temple. When Kenshin arrived he noticed that he was delivering the missionaries to a temple near Seizan. Upon their arrival Kenshin would remain at the Seizan temple for a time. He supposed that doing works here would allow him to build stronger connections with other Evergreen followers throughout the Nohara region.

One's gentle fist application allows them to reduce 1.5 times the amount of chakra spent in a juken strike instead of 1.25. For example, if one spends 100 chakra on a gentle fist technique, the attack robs the target of 150 instead of the 125 normal clansmen would reduce. ▱▰▱ Purest Lineage | The clansman's thoroughbred lineage allows them access to the Byakugan without the use of a hand seal, chakra cost, or activation. In addition, should they unlock the Tenseigan, they may have 50% less reserves to maintain it than other clan members and may also activate the Tenseigan without the use of a hand seal, chakra cost, or activation. ▱▰▱ Physical Prowess | The Hyuga gains a [2] point increase in any stat after mastering stage 3 of the gentle fist and another [2] points after mastering stage 6 for a total of [4] rather than [2]. This allows the character up to two transplants total, of any of the three categories. ▱▰▱ Thundering Justice | Lightning-based techniques used by the Hatake are granted a concussive blast in the form of a sonic boom upon impact. This concussive blast has a range of five feet per rank of the parent technique. Those within the area of the blast have a knock-back effect applied if their body rank is lower than the parent technique. In addition, deafness is applied upon impact for two posts. ▱▰▱ Tsunami of Justice | Kenshin gains access to the water element. ▱▰▱ Ionic Blade | The user's bukijutsu and basic combat weapon strikes may be made complex to add their lightning element to the attacks. This causes tiered paralysis on contact equal to the rank of the technique it is paired with. ▱▰▱ Blessings of Valor | As a world-famous hero, you are forever bestowed with an extra reward in arc, timeskip, and guildwide events. ▱▰▱ Short-Circuiting Juken | For an additional amount of chakra that is half of the amount spent for the original technique, Hatake chidori raiton can be applied to complex juken techniques to inject the enemy's body with lightning. The Hatake's chidori raiton inflicts a tier of full-body paralysis that is equivalent to the technique's rank up to the second tier. This paralysis lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts. Applying Chidori chakra to the Juken consumes a second offensive activation. ▱▰▱ Storm Sage | Lightning techniques cast while in sage mode and when enhanced by nature chakra burn brighter and inflict a tier of blindness that is equivalent to the technique's rank. This blindness lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts. ▱▰▱ Stern Spirit | Reiken no Michi virtue states cost one rank less in stamina to activate and maintain. Class Information First Class: Bukijutsu ▱▰▱ Expert: Rapier → The user has achieved a sense of mastery and focus unlike others and are known as an Expert, a dedicated focus over a weapon they use to near perfection. The shinobi can pick a single weapon, or two if dual wielding, to apply this focus toward with examples such as Katana, Spear, Bows or even Dual Daggers. They acquire a Keystone technique that is unique to them with an additional 2 Custom Techniques derived of this special ability. Refer to the Keystone Guideline for more information. This means that strikes involving the blade cause physical damage including stab wounds as well as seal tenketsu points and any other effects of the technique used through the sword. An additional 5 chakra can be applied to the blade to prevent it from causing physical damage from thrusting but instead seal tenketsu points and inflict pain similar to a stab wound in the area struck but slashing attacks can still cause damage. Half the resource cost of techniques from the rapier style of Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi applied allows the technique to carry the tenketsu sealing effects of a same-rank palm strike such as a B-Rank carrying 64 Palms effects. Getsuruito must be in its rapier form to use this ability and 5 chakra can be spent upon activation of this technique to transform it as such. The Righteous Sword of the Sentinel technique has a 10 post duration before necessitating re-activation and costs an E-Rank amount of chakra. The initial activation of this technique consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not.
Smiting Blade of the Night Watch [ Naitō Otchi no Sumittinguburēdo ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Spiritual When this technique is activated it crackles violently with night blue lightning for the entire duration. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.
Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.

▱▰▱Kenshin would continue his follower and templar duties for his faith upon his arrival in Seizan. He stood at the doorway of the temple of Evergreen as religious services began. The small temple flooded with local members of the faith. He reflected on what he learned earlier from an archpriest that the children's numbers greatly multiplied after Evergreen's arrival in the mortal plane to take away the rinnegan. Her intervention also gave Kenshin the ability to awaken the tenseigan which gave him the power to fight the rinnegan. It was logical that the actual appearance of the goddess and the demonstration of her powers in modern times would encourage more people to turn to her faith. In Kenshin's own estimation, Evergreen was the true creator and leader of the universe. She created the natural laws that man then modeled mortal laws after. To worship her was lawful obedience in his view. There was not much more to it beyond that and he had a difficult time comprehending why so many yet resisted it. Although he did recognize that he was more comfortable with authority figures than many. Especially those who were born with inclinations toward rebellion.
Kenshin stood beside the temple's door with a plain expression as he stared over to the temple of Jashin. He did not understand why Seizan allowed the construction of a temple for such a vile god. In his previous policing career he had apprehended many violent cultists who claimed to be acting in Jashin's will. Perhaps they truly were but either way, Kenshin wanted no part in it. The templar was wary of the bloody god's house of worship. Jashinism to him seemed like a veil of religious piety to place over general criminality. To call it a religion rather than simply a violent cult was ridiculous. He was assured in knowing that his duties as a templar and a child of evergreen would involve combatting these blood-crazed fanatics. Once the services were over he saw to it that the temple was still secure before he went to meditate privately.
The sage felt the natural energy around him and could not help but speculate that he had unique advantages as a sage when performing Evergreen's rituals. He felt that it gave him a deeper and more profound understanding of the world that he would not have had otherwise. The world itself had a natural order and flow to it much like the laws he served to uphold in human society. However, there were also instances where human society rejected or interfered with nature. There tended to be a distinction between society and nature that Kenshin was coming to reject. There was a new truth that he was absorbing that even society is a part of nature and the natural world. Industrialization is moot without the raw resources required. The harshness of the natural elements could be tamed to befit human needs but this would be unjust at the expense of other creatures.
The sage stood and walked away from the alter once his meditations and prayers were concluded. He preferred the solitude and silence of praying on his own over the more public gatherings. He visited the templar order's quarters to return to his templar duties. His mind was put at ease knowing that his shadow clones, as well as Ada, were maintaining order at the pale citadel while he took this time for himself. He felt a certain degree of refreshment by performing these religious services. It allowed him to get away from the noise and find his center. His stress from his position of leadership dissolved as he walked around the temple and tended to his duties. Templars were stewards of the temples as well as their protectors. Once Kenshin was finished with his templar duties for the day he spoke with a priest and was assigned to the grand temple in Kumoito for further work. He also received a higher templar title which he bowed to and graciously accepted. Kenshin began his travels to Kumoito for his next assignment.

▱▰▱Kenshin traveled to Kumoito, east of Seizan and his home at the Pale Citadel. They required the religious services of the marshal templar shortly after his works were performed in the Seizan temple. He was always inspired by seeing the lightning imperial capital despite his scarce visits. When he arrived in the temple of Evergreen in Kumoito he was astounded by its grandiosity. This was the first opportunity the pious man ever had to visit it. The natural sculptures of the goddess were inspiring to him as he traversed the cavernous halls of the grand temple. The sentinel dutifully performed his responsibilities as a templar of Evergreen. The templars were the only ones who could carry weapons into the temple. Kenshin would confiscate blades, shuriken, kunai, and other weapons in the doorway. Navy-colored energy formed into a sheathed elegant rapier at the man's hip. He then shut the doors when the service began and marched around the temple during the worship hours. He had the opportunity to listen to the ministrations of course. Listening to the kindness preached by the priests and the devotion of the attendees stirred inspiration in Kenshin. Can it all truly be this simple? To love humanity and nature? These are certainly values of import. Yet they require the loyal sentry in the templar order to guard their doors. These beliefs will undoubtedly improve the world but a certain amount of violence must be procured if the necessity of self-defense arises. The philosophical lord could not help but regress into these thoughts as he performed his required tasks as a holy warrior. Just as the lord commander was willing to put his life on the line to protect the lightning country's realm he was prepared to do the same for Evergreen's temples and followers.
Kenshin was deeply grateful to the goddess for giving him the guidance he required to awaken the tenseigan. He performed these services as a way to repay a kind of debt. Although she had assured him that the tenseigan was not a gift and it was rather a power that was within him for his whole life. She helped to unlock his potential but he was uncertain if he could have reached enlightenment without the goddess. Being the progenitor of the tenseigan allowed him to be legitimized as a true Hyuga. Even his marriage to Ada was made possible as a result of this legitimization. Kenshin meditated on these thoughts as his piety toward the goddess only grew. He realized that he would be able to call for Evergreen if necessary but such a request of the goddess seemed like an abuse to him. The restrained man would only call upon her directly if the moment absolutely demanded it. Kenshin poured over the tome of the mother at the alter. He read the holy text contained within the massive book with intention. The religious man read each and every word actively to challenge his own assumptions. He found that the psalms and verses were able to deepen his intense focus on philosophy. I looked up from the tome to see the setting Sun's rays glow through the window. Kenshin was bathed in the resplendent golden light and felt himself become still. This calm reminded him of the assurance he was given by Evergreen's presence herself. Although this moment was far less pronounced than such a great event as that, it was still a strong reminder. Kenshin reflected on his mistakes in life when he was too wrathful and overzealous in the extreme discharge of his duties. His commitment to faith and philosophy in the present day was meant to restrain these rage-filled impulses. To become more just was a daily exercise that Kenshin had devoted his life to. The tenets of kindness in Evergreen's faith only strengthened this resolve and gave him another path.

▱▰▱Kenshin's path to mercy had been a long one. Each stone on that path to softening the man's heart was placed with love. He stood from his knelt position before the altar and realized that to see his wife's loving gaze was to see the golden light of the gods. Every act of kindness from Ada served as a reminder to Kenshin that mercy was not necessarily separate from what is just but is an essential component of it. The sentinel was becoming less punitive and had less of a monochromatic law enforcement lens clouding his view. His love and his faith were guiding him toward wisdom that would allow him to execute his duties as a lord more efficiently. He found that forbearance as a lord required a more nuanced perspective of justice than the black-and-white views he had to adopt in apprehending criminals. Kenshin reflected deeply on this as he cared for the temple with the other templars. In order for a situation to reach his throne, it needed to be a legal matter that his vassals were not able to solve on their own. These situations were complicated and it was never simple who was right or wrong so he had to analyze the gradations of imperial law. Kenshin followed the letter of the law but also needed to apply the spirit of the law based on the emperor's intentions. He knew that most of these Nohara cases ended at his own desk. The only place that the parties could appeal to above Kenshin would be the highly selective imperial court itself. He also realized that he need not be overly zealous about his religious beliefs. However, it would be naive to think that his religious views would not have some impact on his judgments. In his own view religion was not separate from rational thought. There were some religious beliefs that he found to be insane and highly irrational such as all of Jashinism. He shuddered at the thought of a Jashinst lord within the empire coming to power. Such beliefs would lead to toxic judgments in ruling the country. Kenshin wondered if the other children of evergreen were more moral than him for their emphasis on kindness. From his perspective, it was easy to be kind but difficult to be just.
Kenshin's own unique challenge that he was working to overcome through his religious services centered on being too harsh in his administration of justice. Over the years he had done a remarkable job performing his duties in the pursuit of justice but his flaw was being too overzealous. He realized that this was due to a deep sense of anger he felt toward the criminals who brutalized him as a child. Growing up in a prison and deciding that he wanted to rise above that at all costs left him with a rage that he could only quell through retribution against all who strayed from righteousness. However, he realized that without acknowledging his own empathy and humanity that his zealotry could lead to injustice. Ada was helping guide him through that process, especially in the political realm of which he was far less experienced than her. Once he finished his templar duties, he walked to the tome study room to resume reading the verses of Evergreen. He read each passage and became more attuned to the philosophy of nature. Kenshin realized that Evergreen's views on nature reflected nicely on society itself. The laws of nature were almost the model for the laws of mankind. He meditated for a period of time after he read each psalm from the tome. Evergreen adopted the values of society, law, and justice after the void of power was left by Utu. Kenshin considered to nearly the point of worrying what the death of Utu might mean. He knew that Evergreen was quite powerful even among the gods but what might this upset balance entail? ▱▰▱Kenshin returned home at last to the temple in the Pale Citadel. He rested in his quarters and allowed his shadow clone to continue the administrative responsibilities of his post for the time being. When he arose in the morning, he reminded himself what a precious privilege it was to be alive. This daily ritual allowed him to keep his stresses in context with the flow of nature and the universe. There was an insignificance to even the Nohara lord’s weighty responsibilities given the great expanse of the world he inhabited. He received notice that he was now a grand templar of the Children of Evergreen. He suspected that he advanced through the ranks quickly because of his unique position in the faith as well as his faith outside of the religion. Kenshin recognized that this was a reality that was somewhat inescapable despite his insistence that he rise as any other would. He was certainly proud of the extensive works he completed for the religion and what was to come but the speed of his advancement was somewhat concerning. Nonetheless, he was dedicated to upholding his duties in the templar order. He moved the small temple of Evergreen into the walls of the Pale Citadel acknowledging that it would be far more protective than in the mountainous forests beyond. He was now the leader of the templar order in the Nohara region and he would continue to develop his temple in the citadel. It was similar to the lightning breath techniques he had mastered with the Raiu genetics he implanted. However, the key difference was that his lightning breath for ninshu was not being weaponized. It was difficult for him to restrain his high volume of raw power especially after years of using it against enemies. Most shinobi were taught to use chakra for war rather than spiritual purposes and Kenshin was not an exception to that. When he felt the lightning chakra coursing through his body he felt a deeper connection to his own faith. It was difficult to assess modern times as there was less of a benefit of hindsight that many historians could enjoy long after the events had taken place. Even the samurai were known for practicing the tenets of ninshu closely until recently. Perhaps a massive ninshu revival would be a useful tool in bringing an end to this long age of unending war? He was aware that when ninshu was widely practiced that there were still battles and other conflicts but he was rather certain that the death toll was not what it was today in the wake of the UHV, Kogarashi, and Land of Iron wars. To think that three great wars and invasions could have killed so many and been so close together in time was astonishing as he meditated on it. It had been some time since Kenshin was able to meditate in this way and he found ninshu immensely useful as a guide thus far.

He watched them connect their elemental chakras together to form a truly resplendent light. It was inspiring to watch as he considered how he might use the lightning ninshu sect within the faith of Evergreen. Evergreen's emphasis on laws, justice, and order mixed with the focus of lightning ninshu on merciful forbearance toward the unpeaceful could work well. He was certain that such a sect already existed within the faith but he considered how his role in it could strengthen that particular mixture of philosophies. In his view, the faith of Evergreen was completely compatible with the tenets of ninshu. They could complement each other quite well if all of the tenets were loyally adhered to by followers. When the beam of light retracted each sage stood up and completed their ritual before walking away from the center. They had a rather jovial aura once they completed the ritual which also interested Kenshin. Later he would join in for a ceremony and was declared a lightning sage and a devotee of the lightning ninshu sect.

Being escorted by a dozen ANBU was an uncomfortable feeling, but Takao tried to take solace in it by pretending they were around to protect him and not to take him down at the first sight of uncouth behavior. It was a bitter pill to swallow, having earned some degree of mercy from the kage but having earned nothing but flack from his trusted guard. Still, he supposed things could be worse, and he tried not to look too nervous. He hadn't been allowed to indulge in the nature of his visit, but some ANBU had been in his interrogation room and, as such, they were aware that Toso wanted a replacement.
He wasn't sure that Kenshin would know.
He stood in the throne room, feeling dwarfed for many different reasons, and tried not to fidget under the unwavering presence of Kenshin. "Um, okay so, I don't know how frequently you keep in touch with Lord Arashikage but - well, okay never mind. Hold on. Uh, you worked under - er, with - Lord Arashikage for many years and in some ways, you know him better than anyone. He charged me with a task that involves, like, inquiring about the kinds of things you think make a good leader." He fiddled with his hands after all, unable to prevent anxious movement under the previous Captain of the APD. He wasn't making a lot of sense, but he didn't know how much Kenshin knew. "Given your leadership experience and status as the only Sannin of Arashigakure, I thought you might have some insight that could offer help. What does Arashigakure need in a leader?"

▱▰▱Kenshin appeared as a statue made of stone as he sat still and upright on the sky throne. This was the seat of power over the Nohara Region, the westernmost province of the Lightning Country. As the lord at the neck of the peninsula, he used his political position lawfully bequeathed upon him by the emperor to guard the great gate to the Lightning Empire's entry. His sharp pale eyes were dormant of their near-omnipresent vision and yet they carefully tracked Takao and his entourage of Arashi ANBU escorts as they stepped across the long cathedral-like throne room. Their footsteps clicked on the marble floors before they stopped in front of his sight. Despite the ostentatious nature of his towering throne and sprawling fortress, the Nohara lord wore a rather plain black kimono. It created a stark contrast between the humble philosopher lord and the pearly white sapphire-crested throne that he sat upon. Although the rather conservatively-dressed man was far less contrasting with the room compared to his tattoo-covered guest. The younger man reminded Kenshin of people that he helped incarcerate although he knew nothing of Takao. The lord commander also knew better than to be deceived by appearances. He listened to Takao fumble through his words and responded immediately. "Be still and calm in knowing that as a sannin of Arashigakure I'm bound by duty to aid you. Perhaps this will assure you in optimally performing the duty that the Arashikage has given you." Kenshin responded regally and sternly but was attempting to offer reassurance. His anxiety was tying his tongue and causing him to falter in his responsibilities thus far which Kenshin wanted to alleviate quickly. He had actually ruminated on the meaning of leadership regarding the position of Arashikage. The man that had refused to campaign for the position multiple times at this point was interested in ensuring that Toso finds the right successor. "I must continue to serve my people in the Land of Lightning but I'll always be a shinobi of the storm. It's because of this lordship that I cannot accept the position of Arashikage myself." Kenshin explained his political role in this situation as succinctly as possible. He had no interest in taking positions that were not honorably due unto him. "What many people have forgotten about Arashigakure, I believe unintentionally, is that it's a village forged in conflict. Its population has deep divisions between the former citizens of Kumogakure, Kirigakure, and Otogakure. I was not allowed to forget this as the chief law enforcement officer of the village for a decade. In the contemporary, we see the addition of yokai citizens which further divides the villagers. The majority of the village's population still doesn't fully identify with Arashigakure. The proper Arashikage will be someone who can properly administrate to all of these concerns." Takao was relieved when Kenshin assured him that he would get the help he sought, but he deflated again when Kenshin made it clear he would not be a candidate for kage. He had hoped for enlightenment, not to lose candidates so quickly. He sucked it up, though, because Kenshin's insight was invaluable. He himself hadn't been incredibly aware of the division within Arashigakure, but how often had he been patrolling the streets or dealt with anything in a political capacity before the escape?
Kagerou was one he had a passing familiarity with, aware of her position at the hospital and obviously her potential as a candidate, but he had never met the woman himself. However, Kenshin made a good case for her, and he knew immediately that he would have to ask her the same questions before making any appeal to her about considering the position. It was a long road ahead of him, but he did perk up after all of Kenshin's information. "Arashigakure needs unity. I get it. I'll be sure to reach out to Kagerou in addition to the other advisors and high-office holders before reporting back to Toso, but... I was wondering, if it wasn't overstepping, to ask if there was any insight you could offer about the current Arashikage." It was a vague request, and it took Takao a moment to process how to ask it differently without insinuating any weakness on Toso's behalf, especially in front of the ANBU. "If, hypothetically, Lord Arashikage confided in you that he was unsure of how... effective his leadership has been... what would you tell him? Just a thought exercise, of course."
Takao nervously glanced at the ANBU guard that surrounded him, unsure if it was inappropriate to request a more personal insight from Kenshin. He didn't really get the impression that the two were friends, but he didn't want to believe there was any contempt, either. But Kenshin also didn't seem like the comforting type. Takao deflated a little at Kenshin's answers, but he should have suspected that he wouldn't get any juicy, personal bits about the Arashikage. Not that Takao wanted them to have an upper hand in any scenario, but that he wanted to know if there was anything he could offer Toso to help the man feel better or more grounded, that maybe a replacement wasn't the right move at all. But no dice. If Takao was going to persuade the man that he was wrong to look for a replacement, it was going to have to be an argument he constructed. Very well.
"I understand," Takao finally said. "I appreciate you humoring this... thought exercise. Um, I'll go ahead and leave you to your own devices, uh, Sir." Takao stuffed his hands in his pockets and spared a glance at his ANBU escorts before they started to take him away.

▱▰▱Kenshin returned briefly to the Pale Citadel and warned his guards to expect him. He needed them to gather in the dungeons to supervise him while he attempted to gain control over the hachibi. There were many risks to doing this so he needed all hands on deck. He would make his way into the dungeons with dozens of guards and sealers in tow. They all surrounded him from above the massive pit of the dungeon. Kenshin sat down to meditate and master the demon as most of the guards stood watch. The sealers had to prepare themselves to jump in and adjust Kenshin's seal if necessary. They had made all of the necessary preparations to ensure that the demon would not get loose and cause a risk to the citadel or the Tensei Sora civilians. When Kenshin sat down he clasped his hands together and focused on breathing and commanding his deep subconscious. Gyuki had yet to speak to him since the transfer sealing from Byakko. After hours of meditating, he felt his spirit inserting itself into Gyuki's prison. Alright Gyuki, it's time to begin the purification. Kenshin stared at the behemoth locked into the restraints of the powerful bijuu seal. His pale hues pierced through the bars as if he were the warden of the imprisoned colossus. No, I don't think I'll be doing that. Gyuki responded with a calm and collected demeanor although it was clear in his voice how much he loathed Kenshin. Stop wasting time. If I leave you in your current state then Jashin will be able to control you. If he does that then he's going to abuse you power to destroy the world. Millions will die if you keep standing in my way. The shinobi sentinel spoke strictly to Gyuki within his subconscious. He attempted to reason with him logically and ignore their tense history but Gyuki was far from convinced. And you won't abuse my power? I don't even know if Jashin will truly be able to control me on Earth. I've seen no signs of this. You're acting from the voice of Evergreen. She tried to have me killed and you've permanently injured me. What do I have to gain from trusting you? Gyuki spoke tactically as he knew that using his own power to overrule Kenshin would be difficult. He had never been sealed inside of a being whose might rivaled his own. All Gyuki could do was passively resist Kenshin for the time being. You resisted sealing and so you were met with lethal force. I was doing my duty for my kage and my village. And I will do so once again. Kenshin was unyieldingly stalwart as he focused on tapping into the demon's chakra. The guards watched Kenshin's meditation and tensed up when they saw the purple chakra beginning to bubble up over Kenshin's skin. However, he seemed to be in control of it for now. The sage felt impure when he accessed the demonic chakra. It felt corrupt in its power as it was tainted by Jashin's influence. He felt his own sage powers resisting it. I have no desire to be a jinchuurki. Hoarding such a massive amount of chakra for myself is against everything that I believe in as a ninshuu follower. When the time comes I'll be rid of you and you'll never hear from me again. But for now, I must force you to cooperate. The Hyuga lord continued meditating as he felt his power grow from implementing the demon's chakra. Gyuki resisted for hours but was forced to give in when Kenshin eventually won the tug of war. No...you won't. Gyuki continuously strained against Kenshin but it was all for naught once he had access to the demon's power. Kenshin opened his eyes when he felt the formation of the demon's tails. ▱▰▱Kenshin rested in his quarters for the night before returning to the dungeons to continue training Gyuki. He returned to the center of the dungeon's pit as his guards assumed their previous positions. They watched carefully in case the demon training got out of hand. As he sat down and meditated he began manifesting a tailed beast cloak of demonic chakra around him. Again, he was frustrated that he needed to use such perverse power but it had to be done. When the demonic cloak formed around him he appeared before Gyuki on the other side of the bars that imprisoned him. Back again? Come to extort more from me? Gyuki was calm and collected if not somewhat crestfallen in the wake of Kenshin's power. Most of his power was already extracted by the reluctant jinchuuriki. Kenshin was here to collect the rest so that he could be on his way to continue his quest against Jashin. I'm not extorting you. You refuse to cooperate on an apocalyptic matter, literally. Kenshin extended his hand and began gathering more demonic chakra from the bijuu. Gyuki resisted more despite knowing that it was futile. How he missed Byakko and the days when he could believe that his host cared for him and wished to settle the score with Evergreen. I want this even less than you.
