Physical Description: Of average height, Jihiro is muscularly built and proud of it. He has shaggy black hair that falls in jagged spikes almost to his chin which he’s constantly shoving out of his face. He has little scars here and there from roughhousing with friends and stupid antics, but overall he’s healthy and in one piece.
Personality: Jihiro is a friendly and enthusiastic young man who has little issue making friends. He likes people and is a social creature by nature. Being raised in a Weyr only solidified the concepts of teamwork and cooperation for him, so until he’s given a reason not to, everyone will be treated as a potential ally. After all, he’s hoping that they’ll all be able to work together one day to fight Thread! Loyal, honest and forthright, what you see is what you get with Jihiro. He will gladly step into the fray to help others, and will even go so far to break the rules if it means helping his friends.
Jihirio has a very specific image of the kind of dragonrider he’d like to be, and makes great strides to emulate that ideal vision. He wants to be seen as a protector and a hero-- a mighty defender of Pern, as many riders are. As a result, he’s very aware of his own thoughts and actions, and will stubbornly dig his heels in to keep himself on what he believes is the right course of action. He is harsh on himself when he fails, even if it is something he has absolutely zero control over. He thinks that maybe if he had been just a little stronger, just a little smarter, he might have been able to somehow change the outcome.
If he gets knocked down, literally or metaphorically he grits his teeth and picks himself back up. He has goals and dreams in mind, and he refuses to give up on them! Unfortunately, he is not the most flexible person in the universe. He will keep throwing himself at the same wall, determined he can break it down eventually… when he could have easily walked around it, if he had taken the time to look up and change his method of attack.

History: Born and raised in the creche of High Reaches, Jihiro’s world has always been filled with dragons. He was the product of a flight, fathered by bronzerider Herg’r. Busy as the man was, he made what time he could for his son, and the boy adored him all the more for it. Though Herg’r and Hyglath would leave High Reaches for a time, he kept in touch with his young son. Jihiro missed him terribly, but he easily made friends with the other weyrbrats and looked forward to the day he would finally be old enough to become a Candidate. A dragon as a partner was everything he'd ever dreamed off since he'd been old enough to walk.
Thread returned with a vengeance just around the time that Jihiro turned 14, and there were rumors of the devastation that had been wrought. Even High Reaches, with all its preparation, hadn't been unscathed. Suddenly, the gravity of Jihiro's situation hit him full force. This was no game. A dragonrider was expected to lay his life on the line to protect people who couldn't protect themselves. His father returned to the Weyr, eager to fight Thread, and Jihiro became all the more determined to Impress. He, too, wanted to fight--and he wanted to be a hero no matter what it took. Though four Turns have passed so far without success, Jihiro isn’t worried. A dragon is out there for him, and if he has to be a little patient, then he’ll be patient!
