Physical Description: Valehrie is tall and strongly built, with red hair that is cut short, amber eyes, and a smattering of freckles.
Personality: It is clear from any who know Valehrie’s grandmother, Virens, that fire runs in the family and that she has inherited it in a blazing inferno. She has a confident head on her shoulders that is self motivated and set to the course, even if at times (most of them, really), it is to her detriment. Valehrie may be able to work in a group for the greater good - that’s just what being part of a weyr family and a dragonrider is about - but that doesn’t mean that if she’s unhappy about any part of the experience that everybody isn’t going to know about it. Her duty to her home and Pern outweigh her personal feelings when it matters, but she is prone to very strong opinions and butting heads when both feet are on the ground - and occasionally when on wing, though she at least has the grace to not try and throw down in the middle of Threadfall and drills….most of the time. Any wrong is defended against with burning fury - whether she deserves the criticism or not. If she has had wrong done unto her or hers, say an accident during Threadfall, she will be the first to let the other party know about it. However, if that accident was her fault, for example she and Penahtath were in the wrong airspace….she’s still going to fight tooth and nail about who’s fault it is.
No matter how it turns out, Valehrie will carve a grudge right into her heart and harbor it as long as possible. She doesn’t let bygones be bygones, even if it would be healthier for her to do so. There are certainly times where she does simply get over things, but there is no rhyme or reason as to why and these tend to be more exceptions than the rule.
On the flip side, however, Valehrie’s strong and unbreakable will leave her a fearless person who isn’t afraid to face down trouble even when it literally rains from the sky. She doesn’t flinch in the face of potential physical or social repercussions to do what (she thinks) is right. She is, unfortunately, not patiently waiting to do so and when things require a more delicate handling she is simply not the right person for the job.

History: Valehrie was born to very loving parents at High Reaches Weyr - a pair of riders who had come together during a flight and while she was not a direct result of that flight, they remained together. Already surrounded by a fairly sizeable family, including a few cousins close enough to her own age, she was hardly bothered by the addition of two more siblings as she grew up. High Reaches practically flowed in her veins, and while she’d grow into a very opinionated young lady she was also one who loved her home. She believed their choice to plan for incoming Threadfall, despite the complacency of the rest of Pern, was the right one and she became a candidate knowing that it wasn’t going to be all fun-and-games-and-dragons.
It would be several years before a small green hatched and readily swept her up, a cool calmness to the flaming vigor the girl was known for. Penahtath would serve to, somewhat, temper her as the two grew into riders worthy of High Reaches Weyr as well as soothe the woman’s impatience. She was eager to chomp at the bit, after all, even if Thread was nowhere to be seen.
Several years later, both she and one of her cousins she’d grown up trailing around after, would give birth to their first child within weeks of each other. For Valehrie, it was a son and she adored him. While he was the result of a flight that had not been quite as bonding as it had been for her parents, she didn’t begrudge his father for it and instead, set out to do the best job she could raising him with all of the support she had behind her.
It was in him she found her first little glimmer of fear - the idea that Thread, whenever it returned, could strip him from her. It only made her more determined to do her best. Things were on course to be the same as they always were as he grew ever closer to following the same path she had - but a few years before he was old enough for candidacy, Thread reared it’s ugly head. Valehrie rose to fight it tooth and nail. While she has suffered some injury over the turns since it has not dampened her spirits - and now she watches and waits to see a dragon pick out her son. Because surely, he is as much of High Reaches as the rest of her family is.

Physical Description: Penahtath is a small green, but is by no means dainty for her length. She is solid and stalwart with large wings and a longer-than-average tail.
Personality: Penahtath is a calm, steady, and quiet dragon. She is hardly ladylike, despite a certain natural grace she possesses, but where her rider handles problems with fire and vigor, she takes them between her claws and crushes them with steady pressure and understanding on what it takes to push towards the results she desires. After all, if pressure could turn coal into either dust or a diamond, why wouldn’t she know exactly how to make that diamond? There is a certain lingering intimidation to this green, however, who while she does not make open threats and displays of authority seems to exude it ever the same. Not to say she’s unwelcoming, but there are many who may find her unsettling instead.
