original approval for Ismay

Name: Ismay
Age: 26
Nameday: 3550.08.09
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Craft: Baker
Rank: Journeyman
Location: High Reaches Weyr
Physical Description:
Everything about Ismay is soft. She's fairly short at 5'2" and has a pleasant plumpness to her figure befitting her craft, and has tawny skin, black hair, and warm brown eyes.

Personality:
Outwardly, Ismay is all warmth and smiles, but it's a very thin veneer over melancholy and heartache. She is a shadow of the person she was before she lost her love, pretending she's coping better with the grief than she actually is. But though it's been nearly two Turns, she's still floundering, and struggles to find any genuine happiness or form new bonds. Even old friendships have mostly stagnated, for while she still cares for her friends, she has walled herself off and cannot be honest about how she's really feeling: she is fine, of course, doesn't she look fine? She's fine.

She now hinges her existence and worth solely on her job, and is unerringly focused and precise in her tasks. She may just be existing day to day instead of on any meaningful level, but she still does her work and does it well. She does still have pride in what she does, and derives what purpose she does have from providing for people, particularly riders. They risk everything for the sake of everyone else, and at the very least they deserve a good meal and comforting treats. That being said, she's currently very unlikely to develop anything more than the most casual, superficial of relationships, friendship or otherwise, with any riders. What's the point? Even if she were ready to open up again, why open herself up to someone she'll almost certainly lose?

Still, though she does her best to protect herself from further heartache by putting up walls, at heart she does still love people, and she very much still cares and would do almost anything if someone needed her - she just tries to care from a distance so that maybe it won't hurt quite as much when someone is lost. But it is lonely, and no healthy way to live; perhaps in time she will try again, but for now, she's just not ready.

Positive Trait List focused, hardworking, soft-hearted
Negative Trait List melancholy, distant, fatalistic

History:
The first child born to a Baker and a Guard in Tillek, Ismay remained the only child well into her teens, and was doted on accordingly, although never quite crossed the line into spoiled. She had an uneventful, idyllic childhood, and didn't hesitate to become a Baker like her mother. Not long after she became a Journeyman at 18, she met an unaffiliated bluerider who came to buy sweetrolls...and kept coming back for more sweetrolls and to court Ismay. Within a Turn, they were married. Ismay and Z'shaei were absolutely smitten with each other, and looking forward to a blissful life and a family together. And then Thread returned.

Z'shaei and Ulimeth felt duty-bound to return to High Reaches, and Ismay of course went as well, and was given work in the Kitchens. In all the upheaval and worry, however, they at least had each other, and they soon settled into their new reality. They even decided to start a family with the help of a friend, but Ismay miscarried, and before they could try again, the worst happened: Z'shaei and Ulimeth fell to Thread. Ismay was heartbroken, and still is, but though she considered returning to Tillek and her family there, she ultimately chose to stay on at the Weyr. Though it is full of painful reminders, she still wants to help in whatever small way she can, which in her case means helping to keep everyone well-fed. It's not much, but it's something, and she clings tightly to that small purpose.

It was in the Stands at a Hatching that her life changed again, this time for the better, when a green spoke to her from down on the Sands. Well, that was quite...something. My dear Ismay, shall we go together?

To be a rider was a possibility she had never once considered, even before the tragedies in her life, and so she comes far from prepared...but at least she'll never be alone, and if they go, they'll go together, even to death.

Name: Lunalth

Personality
The first thing anybody will ever seem to notice about Lunalth is almost a lack of anything to notice. A highly unexpressive dragon, Lunalth often has little visible reaction to events that might stir others into a tizzy. While she may well, in fact, be having quite a few thoughts or even concerns, she is usually far too composed to just let them all come spilling out for everyone else to be privy to. Her thoughts and feelings are her thoughts and feelings, and as such, not necessarily for public consumption. She greatly prefers to curate them carefully before choosing what to share and how, and as such tends to be quite a mild presence, so that those who don't take the time to get to know her might think her distant or uncaring.

As it happens, uncaring is one of the very last words that could describe Lunalth: she does, in fact, care quite a lot about a great many things, some of her fellows included. It's just that she also cares about how she presents herself, and she is very cognizant that words and deeds can have consequences. She would prefer not to choose poorly. She spends a great deal of time forming her thoughts and opinions, then tucks them away until such a time as she deems it appropriate to share them. As she has taken such careful time to consider and organize them, when she does share them she is very clear and concise. Lunalth is in no way one to play games, and will not mince her words when she deigns that they should be heard; that being said, she is not one to be deliberately hurtful, nor is she so obtuse as to not know when a soothing tone or white lie would be the best course of action. When she wants something - or wants someone to know something - she is very direct and, rather than easy to understand, she is practically impossible to misunderstand. Having inevitably taken the time to consider things, organize her thoughts, and form her opinions, she knows exactly what she wants and needs, and will be direct when asking for it. Admittedly, her directness and decisiveness can make her a fairly high maintenance dragon: while she may not ask for much, when she does ask, she expects her request be met to the letter. She made herself clear, didn't she?

Lunalth is very much an independent thinker - and a largely independent dragon in general - but she is far from a lone wolf. Though it may not show on her proverbial sleeve, there is great warmth in her hearts, and she holds true affection for her kin, particularly her clutchmates and classmates. She may not show it - and some may even annoy the ridges off of her - but they are still her kin. Even then, however, she is not a dragon who wants to be friends (or even friendly) with anyone and everyone: 'friend' is a big word for Lunalth, and she considers who gets to carry that title as carefully as she considers everything else. It's not that she is distrustful, but real, solid friendships take considerable commitment and effort. Friend is a serious weight, because a friend is someone you would do anything for, someone to endure hardships with and for, and even share thoughts and feelings with. Once she allows herself to love someone, whether as a friend or something more, she loves completely and without reservation, though you'll get no grand romantic gestures or bold declarations of eternal bonds from her. Her gestures are soft, simple ones that would likely escape the notice of someone who didn't know her well. To her they feel quite large, but she may struggle in relationships if someone needs...more. She may well try to accomodate them if they speak up, but at the end of the day, she is who she is, and at a certain point, it's best to just admit that things aren't working out and move on. Better that than to struggle and twist themselves in the wrong ways and be unhappy.

Lunalth's independence is not always a boon, in spite of how content she is to be herself (which fortunately for everyone is a fairly mild green) and do her own thing. After all, self-motivation isn't a bad thing when one isn't trying to be a single stone weathering against the waves of the ocean. But in many situations, she has already decided she knows the best course of action, and will attempt to move on it without consulting others or expecting their backup...but if she does then need backup, she expects her request for assistance to be met. Yesterday!

Pro: Decisive, Direct, Astute
Cons: Bland, High Maintenance, Independent

Egg Size: Medium
Adult Size:  51'
Physical Attributes: Lunalth is average in length with a wide wingspan and a long tail. She will make tight and precise turns on wing and look beautiful doing it.
Additional Notes: Lunalth may find Flights frustrating, because she will be very exact in what she expects from whomever she allows to catch her. Even if she has a chosen mate, they will be held even tighter to her desires and standards.

Lunalth's flames are tight and precise, and she rarely wastes them. She may hesitate to flame unless she's absolutely certain of her target and will expect her rider to entertain extra practice.

Why Me: Lunalth wanted someone who had lived life a little - and Ismay had just the right amount of experience to appeal. She has both felt the warm love of family and the devastating loss in her adulthood and all of this is wisdom that, combined with her other traits (and Lunalth's own) made for a perfect fit. Ismay's fatalistic view on things will hopefully go a long way towards forcing Lunalth to consider the risks of always being sure she knows best and jumping straight to that course of action: things can, in fact, go wrong, and people can die. Ismay also hides her own feelings in a way that is fairly complementary to Lunalth's own, while Lunalth lacks the trauma: for her, it's simply a preference for being selective. But while she may be selective about with whom she shares her feelings, she still owns that she has them, and will allow Ismay to do the same. While Lunalth may pick and choose to whom she opens up, the important thing is that she eventually does, and will be able to gently encourage Hers to do the same.

There is great love within Lunalth, and she will share it with Ismay without reservation. What she wants more than anything is for Hers to be whole and happy, and what Lunalth wants, she will make sure she gets, no matter how much time it takes.
