Name: Yalizor (Y'zor)
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: ???
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Weyrling
Previous Rank/Craft: Holder's Son
Physical Description: Yalizor stands about 5'8" with the fair, pale skin, and dark blue-black hair of a High Reaches native. His large, soulful eyes are his most striking feature, with his left a deep purple, and the right, a much brighter blue. He's trim, but with little muscle, and a softer, more boyish appearance compared to some at the Weyr. He certainly falls on the prettier side of the spectrum, especially compared to some of his more masculine and older weyrlings. His black hair falls past his shoulders when down, but is often tied back loosely in a cord.
Personality: Yalizor is proper young man, and was raised to have good manners and proper etiquette. None of that has changed over the Turns, and generally speaking, the young man is a good and proper gentleman. He is neither proud, nor is he arrogant, and he certainly never grew up thinking himself somehow better. In fact, he is well the opposite, quick to dismiss praise, or downplay his accomplishments. Some of his siblings were not so lucky to inherit such humility, but being the fourth born son, and the sixth child overall, meant that Yalizor grew comfortable in sharing the limelight, or stepping out of it if it might better another.

For indeed, he is a generous young man, who prefers to share than to take. He would much rather everyone have a little than one or two have a lot. He's never afraid to spend his marks on his friends, or strangers alike, and is always eager to share his time or knowledge when someone is in need. Whatever Yalizor can give, he will do so, and with great pleasure. He would certainly, and has, given the shirt off his back so another might be warm or secure--and what marks he had inherited, while his own, a great many were turned over to help rebuild Greyrock and the people suffering around Pern.

Ever conscientious, Yalizor nonetheless took his position in life seriously. He was well aware of the expectations his family, as well as Pern, might place on a man in his station--and he was more than content to do what he had to do, regardless of personal feelings. He might only be a fourth son, to a minor Hold, but he had a duty to marry well, and help keep the family line and fortune going. He never begrudged his position, and if anything, his place made him yearn to shine all the brighter. He had no true ambition and was never envious of his siblings or their duties--he was more than content to settle in his place, and help support the family and the Hold. It was this conscientiousness that had him leave Greyrock with nary a complaint, despite the changes that left him quite bereft. It is also this conscientious, and his generous nature, that have kept him from becoming bitter about it.

His loyalty is true, and given freely. One doesn't need to earn his loyalty, but they certainly have to strive hard to be free of it. Yalizor considers everyone he meets an ally, until proven otherwise, and to those he calls friends, he will be there no matter the hour. Unfortunately, his loyalty can be a bit much--even to those who love him most. For Yalizor was always a bit of a clingy friend. He didn't often like to do things alone, and never much cared to be away from family for any great length. He never did well when left to his own devices, and would often seek out someone to shadow--even if they weren't interested in him, just having someone to follow, or someone in the same room, was a great comfort to the young man. Unfortunately, he wouldn't always realize when his company was undesired, or worse, unwanted at all.

This has only been made all the worse by feelings of abandonment. He witnessed his father's death first hand, and each time a sibling was sent away, it made him cling all the tighter to the ones that remained. Threadfall's disastrous effects on taking almost his entire family in one day has given him a hangup--at this point, he half-expects his loved ones and friends to die or leave him alone. It's a quiet fear, one he tries not to mention, but it's enough to keep him up at night sometimes, or to check on those while he can. If he's physically able to do so, he will seek them out--and if he is far, he will write letters to ensure all is well. It's easier for him to prepare for the inevitable and painful separation than for him to enjoy what he has in the present--which can feed into his quiet anxieties.

And rest assured, Yalizor as plenty. He is a good, hard-working young man, but beyond his etiquette and pleasant smiles, is a man who holds the weight of the world on his shoulders. Some days are better than others, but over the Turns, his anxiety has gottne worse. He often worries about being enough, or doing enough, to keep his mostly-dead family proud. He will worry about the right turn of phrase long after he's spoken it, and concern himself with whether or not he did something well enough. He well would have worried about whether or not he was doing the right thing, by accepting Candidacy, but Banshideth's hatching happened before he had a chance to truly give it much thought.

But now, as a weyrling, he is realizing he is in a world he knows absolutely nothing about. Impression may have eased some of his flaws, but there will always be worries--thankfully, he will no longer need to share such burdens alone.

Positive Trait List Humble, Conscientious, Loyal
Negative Trait List Abandonment Complex, Anxious, Clingy
History: Yalizor was born raised in a small but budding minor Hold Greyrock on the coast of High Reaches territory. He was the last born-son out of four boys, and with two older sisters, and two more to follow his own birth, it was clear his parents had hope to keep the lineage strong. While his parents were a love match, they were also practical and understood the politics that permeated not just their own Hold, but all of High Reaches territory, and Pern itself.

Their daughters would be educated by Harpers, but ultimately matched with suitors to help grow the families influence. As for the sons, while they had their chosen heir, the rest of the boys would be educated and taught how to manage future cotholds or Holds their own, if they were particularly chosen, and cultured enough to tempt strong alliances. They would not be sent away to Crafthalls, but instead, take their place either supporting Greyrock. They were, a people apart, and while the workers and families that relied on Greyrock for their livelihoods and protection were important--there was no denying that the Holders of Pern shouldered a heavier responsibility in keeping the world turning.

That said, Yalizor's childhood was good, and he was a bit spoiled. He lacked for nothing, and though he was told how to act, how to talk, how to think, and was groomed in all things politics from a young age--it wasn't a bad life.

Of course, his happy childhood began to change from a young age. At Turn 7 his father unexpectedly passed away, collapsing in the fields. With his brother now running Greyrock, things began to change--and quickly. His brother was barely 18 Turns and now the minor Holder in charge. He had just recently wed, and though young, had a good head on his shoulders. There was tension between Yalizor's mother, and the new lady of the Hold, but they were still a family, and they were still together.

He became an uncle three times over by the time he was 11, and by Turn twelve, one of his brothers had been sent to manage one of Greyrock's Cothold's and his other had been sent abroad to study under a Holder at Tillek. His two eldest sisters had already been married off to a cotholder's son in Crom, and the other to a much older, but well established master fisher down in Tillek.

It had been discussed that Yalizor be sent to stay with an uncle who ran a successful cothold on the outskirts of Tillek when Thread returned--and that changed everything.

Nobody had been prepared for it, and that included Yalizor. Greyrock had been built primarily out of wood, for all that it was named after the large rocks that stood vertically in the ocean. Yalizor survived by sheer luck, having been assisting the lady of Greyrock down in the deepest store rooms that were reinforced with stone.

There were very few bodies to be found, as many had been eaten alive. The bodies they did find were in pieces, with men and women having thrown themselves into the water troughs and nearby ocean waters to try to save themselves. The Hold itself was all but full devoured, with only the rooms built or reinforced with stone untouched. Of his immediate family, his sister in Crom lived, as did his uncle in Tillek, and two nephews of Greyrock.

The minor Hold was in ruin. There was talk of it shutting down--but the lady of Greyrock, his sister-in-law, was a shrewd and ambitious woman. She had not one, but two living sons, and the firstborn had already been declared the future heir of Greyrock. She would not give up her title, and had no intention of her son losing his birthright--no matter how badly the Hold had suffered.

For the next Turn, Yalizor helped rebuild the Hold from the ground up. It was not easy, but all of Pern had been in ruins. Unfortunately, Greyrock was no longer his home, for as it was rebuilt, his sister-in-law made sure to put her own spin and say on the Hold. It became more and more apparent to Yalizor that she had little intention of keeping its heritage and instead, was simply there to make it her own.

It was no surprise then at Turn 15 he was sent away from Greyrock and sent to study underneath his uncle in Tillek. While his uncle was a kind enough man, Yalizor was homesick, and griefstricken. Like many on Pern, the trauma of losing ones family and home was a difficult thing to process. He was no longer welcome in Greyrock, for all that it was his family ground. He was given no welcome from his in-law, who re-married a wealthy and equally ambitious holder's son from a minor Hold in Nabol.

But politically speaking, he had no sway He had never been the true heir, and no matter how his family had strove to protect their legacy and the family--Thread's return took it all away in one fell swoop. He had little to his name, and added little worth in terms of matches. His uncle certainly tried to help, but it was clear that Yalizor's chances of finding a comfortable match were little indeed. For who would wish to settle with a young man who had no lands to his name and no way to accrue marks?

Perhaps a wife (or husband) were not drawn to him, but a blue dragon most certainly was! Most recently (in fact, only a day prior to the Hatching itself) did a blue dragon find him on Search. Yalizor hardly knew what to do--no one in his family had ever been sought by a dragon before--but with few prospects, and no welcome back at Greyrock, what did he have to lose? Thread had taken his family away, his security away, just as it had so many others... Maybe this would be what he needed to find a new situation? And if nothing else, it would give him time to figure out what he wanted to do with his life.

So Yalizor accepted.

Much to his surprise, Banshideth's eggs hatched the very next day--and Yalizor's new calling was found when he gazed into the prettiest, rainbow-whirling eyes he ever saw.

A brown dragon had been wandering through the throng of white-robes when he spotted someone quite ill-prepared. His thoughts were all over the place.

Well, this simply would not do.

Stepping up to Yalizor, the brown dragon sat down and gazed up at HIs. Come now, pull yourself together, Mine. With me at your side, you'll have nothing to fear. Now, we must be off to the tables at once. Let us away. He would not linger, nor would he let his remain. They had places to be, things to do, and this brown had no intention of dallying.

Other: He has no idea what he's doing. H-help.

MALE DRAGON
Name: Isiyaloth
Personality Isiyaloth is a dragon who is, above all else, disciplined. He is a dragon who was hatched knowing his place, knowing his position, and knowing what was expected of him in High Reaches. He is a dragon who likes to have control over his actions, and is not the sort to give up, or give in--no matter the challenges set before him. He is a brown who does not give into anger quickly, but he also doesn't give much into his passions, either. He is a very staid creature, who is not prone to falling into pieces.

It's no surprise that he's a patient beast, one who has a cool-head in all situations. No matter his rider's stress, no matter the panic of his clutchmates, this dragon can be a soothing balm on those around him. Even when someone is trying to get a rise out of him, Isiyaloth has a very long fuse, and is not prone to falling into fits of temper.

Gallant to the end, Isiyaloth is quite a gentleman brown. He is sociable, friendly, and kind. He certainly has no problem standing up for his loved ones, or taking a hit during Threadfall. He knows how to treat others with respect, and tends to be quite chivalrous at the end of the day. Ladies, and perhaps some of the smaller, more delicate males, needn't ever fear he might be anything less than well-behaved around them--unlike some of his more crude clutchbrothers.

But Isiyaloth isn't perfect--not by far! His disciplined nature can lead him to be strict. He doesn't break rules, and has the expectation that others follow his lead, accordingly. He knows his place, and is far from a rabble-rouser. He does what he's told, he follows the leaders, and he is not the sort to change his mind once it's made up. There is little to no wiggle-room when it comes to this brown, and he can be quite stern when he feels he must put his foot down for the greater good.

He also has a tendency to be over-bearing. He likes things to go a certain way -- his way, usually -- and while his intentions are often good, he doesn't leave much room for others opinions or ideas. He isn't very good at making allowances for others temperaments, and tends to live a life of his-way or the highway. (Not that a dragon knows what a highway is!) It isn't because he thinks himself better--but because he cares, and knows his way is at least tested and true. This can lead him dominating, or stifling, those who might be less prone to speaking out or pushing back against him.

Lastly, Isiyaloth is antediluvian. He is completely old-fashioned and, perhaps, a bit traditional. He certainly does not see himself as better than any color, but he is well aware that each dragon was hatched into a certain role--and he likes each to abide by such. He will defer to the bronzes and golds of the Weyr without question, and is there to lend them his support fully. That said, he will just as eagerly aid and suport his white, green, blue, and fellow browns as well--provided they aren't trying to buck Tradition. He will look upon Western Weyr with confusion--and will never embrace any new-fangled ideas.

Overall, Isiyaloth will make a good addition to High Reaches ranks.

Positive Traits: Disciplined, Patient, Gallant
Negative Traits: Over-bearing, Strict, Antediluvian
Egg Size: Small
Adult Size: 82'
Physical Attributes: Isiyaloth is very large for a brown, just two feet shy of being max length. He is not as bulky as some of his siblings, having inherited a bit of svelte sleekness from his mother, but there is no denying he is a big boy. His headknobs are longer than average, and his wings are less broad than they are long--allowing him a surprising amount of speed for his size, without damaging his stamina.

Additional Notes: Isiyaloth is a traditional brown, who will always be there to support his golden and metallic siblings, and would never have the gall to chase a Queen. In matters of the heart, Isiyaloth has a preference for those who are more delicate. He likes to be the protector, likes to be needed, and will likely seek out the more delicate greens and blues. Isiyaloth wants to be the big spoon, thank you.

Why Me: Yalizor and Isiyaloth are a compatible match. To start, the brown dragon will over Yalizor guidance and direction with his new life. Where the young Holder had been turned out of his home, and with little rank, Isiyaloth will now open up new opportunities for him. He is a brown rider of Pern, and that affords him the possibility to rise up as a Wingsecond, should he wish it, on top of being one of Pern's newest defenders. While he might not longer be a man fit-to-be-married off, Isiyaloth will help Yalizor become a better man through all of life's changes.

Additionally, Yalizor's traditional views line up well with Isiyaloth's old-fashioned ideas. This brown approves of things how they used to be, and couldn't handle having a ride chafe against his ideas. Yalizor is a man who is well accustomed to the hidebound traditions of Pernese society and culture; while he might not be as well-versed in the Traditions of a Weyr, Isiyaloth knows His will follow his more hidebound ideas without much objection or issue.

Lastly, Yalizor's fear of abandonment and anxieties will be far lessened by Isiyaloth's endless patience, and disciplined nature. This dragon will never grow weary of reminding His that he is there, and they shall never be parted; Yalizor will always have a constant companion, and support like he'd been without for many Turns. Isiyaloth is a caring dragon, and he will find utmost satisfcation in caring for His first and foremost. This was a brown who needed to be needed, and will help keep Yalizor's fears and worries in check. If a strict routine and schedule won't do it, than all the love of his Hearts will.
