Physical Description:
With a bright smile and an innocent look, Rosania doesn't quite look the sixteen Turns she makes. Her smile could light glows and warm eggs, and the dimples on her cheeks are almost angelic. The softness of her expression marks her trustworthiness and innate kindness. She is rarely seen frowning, though perplexed looks and general confusion are more common than she would like to admit.
Her face is quite small and round, with large, vivid blue eyes and neat, dark eyebrows. A prominent nose ends in a rounded button tip, and thin lips are often smiling or grinning. There may be a glint of mischief somewhere in that bewitchingly sweet gaze: a throwback to an adventurous childhood. At rest, she may seem to appear sleepy, with the slightly droopy eyes common in her family. Long hair falls to the middle of her back with a gentle wave, a dark brown bordering on black that lightens to reddish blond in the sun. Her skin is a creamy, sandy hue, and she has a tendency to tan rather than burn.
Rosania prefers feminine clothes such as skirts and blouses, but will dress as her duties require it. She has a penchant for half-aprons with large pockets, in which she keeps flowers or seeds she might find. Her Gather finery is a hand-me-down from an older sister, and even though it is beloved it is also quite worn and ill-fitting on her slender, petite frame. Rosa stands at 5’5 at full height, and seems to drift from one place to another rather than walk like a normal person. Her movements have a peculiar ‘flouncy’ quality to them, betraying her gentle approach to life.
Personality:
A gentle and sweet ‘flower’ child, Rosania may, at first, be the proper lady her parents had so desperately desired to see her become. Appearances are deceiving, for the external sweetness she presents, whilst genuine, serves to hide an inner yearning for a world far greater than her home. She keeps those desires at bay by taking simple joy in her daily life of farming and herbalism.
She is not a brilliant or talented young woman, but she is remarkable in her kindness and empathy, which draws attention despite her natural shyness. She is polite and well-mannered, full of social grace and almost over-exaggerated manners. It's always ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘no sir’, but rest assured that deep down she is keeping track of her own thoughts and opinions on the authority figures in her life. Her quietness does not stem from stupidity or slowness, but from a desire to observe life as it happens, to truly value the moment for all of its potential joy and sorrow.
She is loyal to her friends, and friendship comes quite easily to her as a whole. She makes a wonderful confidante for those burdened by painful secrets, and offers not wise counsel but heartfelt advice. She truly and earnestly wishes to empathise with a person’s pain and need, and would offer her heart if it mended their own.
This, in turn, makes her easy to manipulate and deceive. She offers her trust blindly, a fact that has led her into abusive and toxic situations in the past. She is not well attuned to sensing malice in others, and often needs help and guidance in protecting her own heart and energy. She believes nobody would truly wish her ill, as she herself would never want to bring harm to anyone. She is somewhat a pacifist, and squeamish at the sight of blood.
Her innocent and kind outlook on life is perhaps one of her more attractive traits, but her naivety leaves some thinking her foolish and stupid instead. She is considered too soft and gentle, and consequently even remotely tough responsibilities are removed from her shoulders. Deep down, Rosania really wants to prove herself to her loved ones- and especially herself. She has a feeling people shelter her from the rough, rugged world, but she believes she has an inner strength that will enable her to weather the worst the world throws at her… she's just too polite to ask for that chance.
Rosa has little to no temper, and has learnt to hold her tongue when frustrated. She has blocked some of her internal anger, and copes with it by working alone and indulging in her passions: planting and tending to flowers and crops. She enjoys cataloging and researching smaller plants, going so far as to begin a private encyclopedia of herbs and other flora.
When it comes to romance, Rosania is unprepared for the advances of others, and tends to stammer and blush a lot if approached. It does not occur to her that she might pursue others, and keeps her private fancies and daydreams to herself. She someday hopes to raise children of her own, after a successful romance resulting in marriage or weyrmating. That is a long way of, and Rosania is determined to enjoy her freedom and independence before considering suitors.

History:
Born ninth of thirteen, into a loving family filled with daughters, Rosania never lacked for care or affection. Though the eldest were already accomplishing things by the time she was born, Rosania did not experience jealousy or resentment as she grew up. There were other things in life to occupy an endlessly curious, outdoors-y young child.
She was prone to taking long walks around her cothold, returning home at dusk covered in mud and usually hauling some new plant or fruit she had found ‘somewhere’. It took her a few Turns, perhaps until the age of nine, to realise that being covered in mud was Quite Bad, and she began to cultivate delicate manners and attentiveness to hygiene as well as flowers and vegetables.
There was no doubt in her mind what she wanted to do, when she turned twelve and was allowed to apprentice: for many long Turns during her childhood she had been drawn to the beauty and solitude of the natural world, where she wasn't just another number and face amongst a brood of growing daughters, and where her soft touch and care would be well-received without the pressure of someone's life resting in her hands. So she asked to become a farmer, and it was thought to be… well… noble, if not exactly lady-like. Plus, it benefited their cothold to have another apprentice dedicate themselves to learning crop rotations and weather cycles amongst other things. Anybody could be a farmer, but it took some skill to be a Farmcrafter.
Thread began to fall again when she was nine. Fortunately, they were within High Reaches’ scope of protection, and the little cothold survived the devastation with very little loss. News travelled slowly to the mountainous region of her home, but she discovered over the following Turn that the rest of Pern had not been so lucky, and mourned. She withdrew a little, her focus entirely on the plants that had captivated her since she was small.
At fourteen, when Search brought dragons to her little home, Rosania watched from afar. She had learnt the Teaching Ballads from her older sisters, and knew. Deep down, she longed to stand on her own two feet, having started to feel suffocated by the continuous hovering presence of her parents. They treated her as though she were a fragile child, but she knew she had so much more to offer the world than they realised. When the dragons turned their gaze on her, and becoming a candidate was a potential prospect, Rosania convinced her doting parents to let her go. She promised to write, reassuring them that if she found life at the Weyr too difficult, she would return.
It has been two Turns now since she has been at the Weyr- the culture shock has worn away, and Rosania attends candidate lessons. She also provides assistance with the Weyr’s vegetable patches, has developed skill with cooking, and helps at the creche, finding childcare to be both enjoyable and rewarding (as well as a fond reminder of home).
