Physical Description: A sensuous woman of 5'9", Vsila moves with grace and poise beyond her Turns. With extravagantly long black hair, long black lashes, and reddish brown eyes, she presents a striking appearance. Fond of wearing garments with deeply plunging backs, the courtesan has a rather intricate tattoo on her mid to lower back which has become her hallmark.
Personality: A highly paid courtesan, Vsila has seen the best and the worst of Nabol. Her life started in one of the poorest districts of the Hold, in stark contrast to the current state of affairs. It was there that she became the independent, hardworking, and grifting woman that she is today. It has become difficult for Vsila switch out of her professional mode, as it has lifted her out of her old, wretched life. It's a shield that protects her from the seemingly inevitable disappointment of day-to-day living, but also somewhat blinds her to genuine offerings of friendship.
She's not unwilling to reach out, and does have deep bonds with a number of her fellow courtesans, but lives with a somewhat jaded belief surrounding what others want from her. It's not intentional, and certainly something she'd slough off if she could. Perhaps in time she will, particularly with greater exposure to the world outside of Nabol. Even spending several Turns at the Courtesan Hall in Western didn't banish that mistrust, nor render her more open to the good intentions of those around her.
There is a core of generosity and kindness within the young woman that has not been shaken by her life. It may be due to her determination to save her family from the fate that they seemed destined for, but she does have a strong will to do good for others. Empathy and compassion come easily to Vsila, whose heart might be just a little too tender beneath the façade of jaded courtesan. It will take hard work and time to overcome what experience has taught her, but there is considerable room for growth.
Charming and outwardly confident, Vsila has not struggled to find customers. That charm has kept her alive during the worst of times, alongside a certain indefinable grace and poise learned early. She is used to making the most of bad situations, and almost expects them. But that versatility doesn't always work toward her advantage, leaving many wondering just who she really is... even the courtesan herself.

History: Born in the darkest parts of Nabol Hold, Vsila is the eldest child of a pitfighter and a courtesan, and the only one who has thus far survived to adulthood. Whether malnutrition was the main factor, or if perhaps something more sinister was at foot, she does not know. Her childhood memories were typical for a Nabolese kid of no account, fraught with hunger, pain, and an abiding sense of danger.
Before too long, an opportunity to put food on her plate presented itself in the form of the local brothels. Although at first Vsilamer was too young to be a courtesan, she certainly was old enough to be trained in the arts of diplomacy and seduction. She never received Hall training at that time, as she had neither connections nor marks, but when she was old enough to put her newly honed skills to work, she did just that. It was easy work, and paid well enough.
As soon as she was able to, she sent her marks back home... for there was an ailing little brother who had just passed his fifth Turn to take care of. Her father was not to be relied upon in that regard, as his pay was contingent on winning, and her mother was often working, herself. Though not completely altruistic, Vsila certainly gave what she could... perhaps more than she ought to have.
It was in this manner that she passed several Turns. The horrors of Threadfall were almost blasé in contrast to what she'd endured as a child, though they certainly impacted her. If there was one thing the return of Thread proved, however, it was the great inequity between the Lord Holder and his people, and the Nabolese just trying to survive. Those structures which had been built Thousands of Turns before stood standing even as the wooden ones were devoured.
Among the dead were many that Vsila had known in childhood. At nineteen Turns of age, she lost the very brothel in which she had worked, although she did escape with her life and the bulk of her belongings - mainly because she had been attending an event on a wealthy trader's arm. Her time away from the brothel had been her saving grace. She had not had so many valuables that she'd chosen to leave them behind. Starting over was rough, but made possible by the knowledge that her remaining family (her father, her mother, and her little brother) had survived.
Yet in the act of starting her life anew, she struck a bit of good fortune. This time, she had been hired to work at a Hall-backed brothel. Her grace, beauty, and charm caught the eye of a Master courtesan, who took her under his wing. Life as a courtesan had been relatively charmed in her eyes before now, but she blossomed under her master's tutelage. It was there that she began to hope for something more.
Though it was possible to be an apprentice without returning to the Hall for training, there was much yet for the young woman to learn, and so she was sent to the Courtesan Hall to soak up what knowledge she lacked. Although this made it difficult to send marks home in the quantities of before, it was relatively short lived. A fast and able learner, Vsila soaked up her lessons like a sponge. Through a combination of dedication and natural talent, she was able to progress to journeyman status in time.
With that newly attained status, she returned home to Nabol Hold to work for her master's brothel once more. Now the cut was slightly different, and she certainly commanded better wages. Even with the need to split some of her earnings with the Hall, she still managed to provide somewhat for her family. It seemed that luck was with her... for now, at least. With a growing wardrobe and repertoire, the young woman felt ready to face new challenges, alongside the little green firelizard her master had gifted her.
