Physical Description: While some might call her awkwardly tall for a girl since she's nearly six feet tall, she's outgrown her coltish awkwardness and now moves not so much with grace but with confidence. She can charitably be called willowy, as she's slender and her arms (and legs in particular) seem maybe a little too long. She's crowned by wavy dark copper hair that keeps intricately braided on on the left side and lets fall to her shoulder on the right. She is heavily freckled and stormy-grey eyed.
Personality: Though it's taken time and there have definitely been some setbacks now and then, Mhinadi has grown into a confident and delf-assured young woman. She's not only moved past the awkward clumsiness of a sudden growth spurt that made her taller than a lot of the boys at lessons, but she's shrugged off the timid girl she used to be and embraced herself for who she is, quirks and all.
Though she *can* sit still and be attentive, it doesn't come easily. Though she used to be much more reserved, she'd not really even been good at *still*. It's not fidgeting so much as a need to do something with her hands. Weaving braids into her hair isn't her only talent. She's pretty adept at making plaits out of multiple strands of, well, anything. Long grass, the tattered fringe on an old shirt, long pieces of vegetables...
She has no patience for bullies. Bullying or making fun of others is really the only place where her temper is displayed. Even if she's never seen the victim before, she will become their staunchest defender in a heartbeat. There is no room in her world for that sort of cruelty. She does sometimes over react and take offense on someone else's behalf when none was felt, but she's gotten pretty good at apologizing for those incidents. She's working on it.
In her secret heart of hearts, she is a romantic. She hopes -- no, *knows* -- that one day she'll meet the perfect someone, but they will be her match in every way. She's not necessarily drawn to a person because of their looks (though she's not blind) but rather by how well she gets along with them. They're out there, though. Time will give them away.
This daydreaming about her future does sometines distract her as her mind wnanders toward what could be, but she's easily correct and refocused. It's mostly during idle times that she can be found staring off at some thought far away.

History: Mhinadi was born to Nadirah, a woman working in the kitchen of the Weyr and a M'raj, a young brown rider. They were not Weyrmated, and never planned to be, despite an obvious affection for one another. Mhinadi grew up mostly within the creche, though she often spend afternoons with her mother, or more rarely, riding on M'raj's shoulders as he walked her around Weyr and made up outrageous stories. Not a bad childhood, by any means.
But around the age of ten, it became clear that she was destined to grow a little faster than some of her friends. The taller got, the more self-conscious she became, and the more the combination seemed to make her a target for those who wanted to pick on anyone different. By the time she was 14, she'd taught herself many tricks to try to disappear while still in plain sight.
And then Thread came back to Pern.
In the effort to combat it, M'raj and his dragon were badly Threadscored. Ultimiately, they survived, but they were permanently grounded, his dragon having lost the use of one wing and M'raj himself blind in one eye and badly scarred. Mhinadi was heartbroken and worried and scared, but of course, none of that stopped her from growing or others from continuing to tease.
It was worse now, though, because the focus had expanded to include her father, too, and it wasn't only crechemates who stared and sometimes whispered or just plain commented aloud. Though Mhinadi had finally seemed less of an outlier when some of the boys caught up and passed her by the time she was sixteen, her mood and the world just seemed to get darker and shrink.
So M'raj and Mhinadi made a pact. The brownrider confessed that he struggled to ignore the stares and sometimes-thoughtless comments from those not used to him, like visitors and traders at the Weyr. He confessed that he, like her, had sometimes wondered why he even tried to fit in or go on living at all, when he sometimes felt so out of place. But, he promised, if she could get through another day, then he could do it too.
It was the beginning of a change of attitude and a new outlook not only on life, but on herself, and her place on Pern. It took a couple of Turns to build up the confidence she displays now, and she's not perfect when it comes to asserting herself. Sometimes she goes too far. She's learning. She adjusts.
Needless to say, she is definitely a Daddy's girl.
But little by little, she's coming into her own.
