Physical Description: Of average height and a tiny bit squishy build, a turn at the Weyr has made her less...buoyant all over, though she still has what might be kindly termed "rounded elbows." Her hair is naturally light brown, but spending much of her life outdoors has lightened it so that she can usually manage to dye it other colours without having to resort to drastic measures. Before being Searched she liked to turn her hair a sort of aubergine colour, but the materials for dye are just not as easily found at the Weyr and too expensive to purchase often. Now she just keeps the bottom two inches dyed, which is not as cool looking as she thinks. She likes to braid things into her hair, too, like beads and bright string.
Personality: Clari (Del) is a girl who is just not comfortable in her own skin. She's always felt that she could and should be doing more and better. She grew up idolizing her older sister, who always seemed confident and comfortable in every situation, not to mention just effortlessly cool, and in comparison she always felt that she came up very, very short. Not being as awesome as her sister wasn't exactly a source of unhappiness for her growing up, since it felt almost blasphemous to contemplate being as awesome as her sister, but there's always been a long list of ways in which she would like to improve. Number one on the list is to somehow become someone to whom everything comes easily.
Despite being twenty turns, she still has not figured out that for most people, even if they seem to be doing fine, they are probably struggling in some way, and she is convinced there's something wrong with her, that she has to work so hard to do what seems to come naturally to everyone else. It matters a lot to her that nobody ever find out how hard she works to appear cool, and how much planning goes into just about everything she does. This is a girl who will never experience esprit d'escalier because she has stayed up nights imagining the perfect comeback for every possible situation, when she's not reliving a highlights reel of her Most Embarrassing Moments Ever And How They Could Have Been Avoided. Because of how sensitive Clari is to being put on the spot or embarrassed, she is acutely aware of when she has the ability to prevent others from being in similarly uncomfortable situations, and tries to make sure those around her are always content and comfortable. She's more of a Golden Rule person than a Platinum Rule person, but she's getting better about that.
That said, Clari doesn't really deal well with the unknown or unpredictable. She is even worse when people correct her in public, and will often double down on her error if it's factual. When she's acted wrongly, however, she is very meek and quick to take whatever action will restore the status quo the most rapidly. Situations for which she has not planned, or in which she does not know the best course of action make her nervous and short-tempered because she is certain that she's going to end up humiliated and rejected for not being good enough. Please note that nobody in her life has ever actually rejected her for not knowing exactly what to expect or choosing wrongly from uncertain options, although she has lost a few friends who decided that she was too fake to be a real friend when they realized that she tends to show people whatever face she thinks will make them think the best of her.
Honestly, being Searched came right on the heels of that friend group blow-up, and so it presented a great opportunity to reinvent herself as her Best Self at the Weyr. She was back to her old ways in about a season because although being Searched at all is a fantastic touchstone that she really does have merit, it's not a life she ever imagined living, and so every new thing is a minor catastrophe of potential humiliation. The routine of candidate life actually makes many things a lot easier, not to mention the arrivals and departures of candidates who are Searched, Impress, or age out giving her a lot more chances than she used to have to make the right impression.

History: Born and raised in Black Sands hold, Del and her sisters grew up helping their parents with their business: renting cots to vacationers and arranging excursions for them during their stay. Del grew up admiring her effortlessly cool older sister and wishing her younger sister would leave her alone, never seeing the parallels there. She was Searched at nineteen, right on the heels of a rather nasty implosion of her friend group. Nevertheless, having been uprooted from the familiar, she was at first very uncomfortable at the Weyr, but she quickly decided that this was an opportunity to finally be cool and told everyone that Del was short for Claridel (it's not), and she prefers to go by Clari (that's true). She found some friends among the other candidates and has been doing her very best to be generally well-liked and avoid having her ignorance about Weyrlife exposed.
