Hoping to get his first mission done while the sun was still low in the sky, Himitsu pulled himself out of bed at 4am, barely dressing himself correctly before heading toward his bedroom door. He stopped to carefully grab his temporary companion of late, a tiny raven with a sliced up wing. The poor thing had been cooped up in Himitsu's room for a couple days now, and Himitsu felt he could bring the bird along for the day. Before leaving for the day, the boy stuffed his pockets with a few granola bars and grabbed a drink from the fridge. He groggily stuffed his face as he headed for the edge of town for his first job of the day. It wasn't long before he came upon the small farm that he'd been assigned to help out for the day. He met up with the older farmer who explained that while he didn't have much issue doing most things around the place, he just couldn't weed out the anymore. It was a simple enough request, so Himitsu got to it right away, starting on the left side of the closest edge of the field and working his way up, then back down. He repeated the process for a few hours, his back and knees stiff and starting to ache by the time he finished up. The sun had barely risen above the trees when he finished, happy to be done before the day got too warm. The farmer thanked him, and Himitsu said his goodbyes before heading back into town for his next assignment.
First around town was filling in as a reinforcement guard at the village gates. Himitsu had no real sensory abilities to speak of, but that was fine since his job was just to hit hard and fast if something went terribly wrong. The guard captain on duty assigned him to monitor the gate from a few yards way in a small blind that had been built into a tree. Himitsu took his position as assigned, and took his bow out for ease of access should anything go wrong. Nothing did. The three hour shift he'd taken was almost entirely uneventful, as the only person who had come through was a Koala Bear Salesman, who had to be turned away due to an issue with his licensing. The man was clearly upset, but didn't cause any real issues. Once the next shinobi arrived to relieve him, Himitsu headed through the gates and headed for his next assignment.
Next up was a basic delivery request from the pharmacy near the north end of the village market district. Apparently both of their delivery people were out sick this week, and delivery orders were beginning to pile up. When Himitsu arrived, barely two words were spoken to him before a heaping pile of paper bags was forced into his arms. The sudden weight almost knocked the boy over, but he teetered safely back out the door and onto the street. He carefully made his way down the first few blocks, having the luck to run into a couple of customers who were in the area already. Slowly he made his way through town, occasionally dropping a bag and struggling for several minutes to pick it back up without dropping even more. As the massive pile shrank over time, Himitsu picked up his pace and cruised through the last half of the deliveries. He returned to the shop briefly to let them know he had finished, and left with a small snack as an added thank you from the shop owner.
Once the delivery requests had been wrapped up, Himitsu headed over to the community forge. One of the local metalworking artists was teaching a class today, and requested an assistant that could help steadily maintain the heat of the forge. Having had a little practice with the work and hoping to make his face known around the forge anyway, Himitsu volunteered for the mission immediately. He arrived 30 minutes before the start of the class and got the instructions he needed from the artist. Himitsu got the forge up to temp manually, then monitored it closely throughout the next hour and a half. The Uchiha used his wind chakra to keep a steady flow of air over the coals, creating an extra little gust whenever needed. As the class drew to a close, the instructor asked Himitsu to crank the heat as much as possible as fast as possible, and Himitsu did so on command, quickly but smoothly increasing the wind flow and making the furnace glow brightly. The artist turned over his artwork several times in the heat before removing it and quickly cooling it off. Once the steam died down, he removed the piece and displayed it to the crowd, which "oohed" and "ahhed" at it. Despite the several of hours of work however, Himitsu still thought it just looked like a twisted up piece of metal... Regardless of his feelings though, it was a mission completed and a job off today's list.
From the forge Himitsu made his way to the library to assist in processing the returns. It wasn't a particularly interesting job, but it was inside and physically easy. Sure he had about 300 pounds of books to reshelf, but at least they were on carts. The solemn silence of the library offered its own challenge after some time, but the boy took to simply dropping one of the heavier books back onto the cart whenever it got to be just a little too much. The librarians gave him a dirty look every time it happened, but he gave them his best look of innocence and apologies and moved on. They knew what was up, but they couldn't really know, right? Thanks to the obsessive organization of the librarians the books were already placed on the cart in the most efficient order to restock, so Himitsu was able to make record time in getting the books onto the shelves and the carts back in the supply room. He'd even gotten them all in the right spot! With the supply closet locked back up and the keys handed off to the head librarian, Himitsu headed home for the night. The thought of dinner and a warm shower brought a smile to his face as he made the trek home.

Today Himitsu took the time to sleep in and eat a decent breakfast, since he'd decided he would be going after some tougher missions than his usual work. After inhaling his breakfast, he made his way to the Hokage's Office to scope out the available missions. A large portion of them had already been taken, but Himitsu did manage to find enough interesting ones to occupy most of his day. First up was taking out a big boar that had apparently been ruining large chunks of farms and properties just outside the village. Once that was wrapped up, he needed to head to a small hot spring a few miles outside town and meet up with a jonin posing as an employee there. After that, he just needed to do a short patrol of the market district just after dusk and send in a report to the Hokage's Office. Anxious to get his day started, he made his way out the gates and out to the farms where this boar has been spotted.
It didn't take long to spot the damage the request had been referring to. Bushes were uprooted, big chunks of yards were ripped out and moved several meters away, fences were turned to splinters, and even a few smaller trees seemed to have been snapped right in half. Assuming it might be easier to actually spot the flow of the destruction from above, Himitsu hopped up into the branches above near the road, and climbed up into the canopy. It took a moment, but he was eventually able to reason out the most likely path the angry little piggy had taken. Sure enough, as he traced his way over the landscape, he spotted an odd movement of trees and brush in the distance. He approached from above, and listened as the sounds of something crashing through the underbrush erupted into the explosion of wooden planks into small splinters, quickly quieting into the soft thumps of hooved feet on soft dirt and the muted snapping of wheat being trampled. Himitsu approached the edge of the tree line overlooking a large field, and spotted two larger than average boars ransacking the area. While they were pretty big, the reports had clearly exaggerated a bit, likely out of panic. He activated his sharingan, then retrieved his bow from his back and nocked an arrow. He drew it back, corrected his aim once, then fired, dropping the righthand boar a second later. He repeated the motions once again, quicker this time, and dropped the second one. A smug smile spread across his face as he slid his bow back over his shoulder and hopped down from the tree. Standing just inside the tree line, a few feet from the ruined fence, he looked over the pigs that laid dead in the midst of their destruction of the field. "They certainly made a mess, but I don't get why the report said they would be so mass-"
Snort!
The booming, wet sound made Himitsu wince. "Of course..." Himitsu turned around and confirmed the emergence of a much larger, much angrier boar. Its tusks started at the boy's stomach-level and curled up above his head. The behemoth snorted once again and tilted its head down just a touch before it started to twitch and fidget, its back legs clearly tightening up to store power. "Oh... no... He brought his right hand up and began channeling chakra as the boar charged. As the boar approached, lightning began to spark and crackle intermittently over and around the shinobi's hand. Once the Raiton chakra had built up enough to have at least a few steady arcs flowing at all times, Himitsu launched forward himself, darting between the boar's tusks and slamming his lightning charged fist into the boar's forehead. A loud crack echoed out as Himitsu's [โฐ Elemental Personification | Rank S | Spiritual] slammed into the boar's skull, and lightning arced from the boy's hand into the creature's skull. It stopped dead in its tracks, the electricity stunning its entire body as the force of Himitsu's hit killed its momentum. The boars eyes swung lazily in their sockets for a moment before they seemed to dim and the creature dropped to its side, the force of the concussion paired with the lightning through its brain apparently having fried it. Himitsu fell on his butt and gripped his hand which was now bright red and slightly swollen from the boar's hard skull. He rested it for a moment, then got to his feet and retrieved the boar corpses from the field, laying them next to the larger boar. After that he trekked over to the nearest farm house and notified the farmer there of the damage to the fence, and the several hundred pounds of meat piled up behind it. Then he headed for the hot spring.
Upon entering the hot spring, he immediately recognized the man at the front desk as a Leaf Village jonin. He approached the desk and greeted the man. "Hey there! I was supposed to meet a friend of mine here. Probably dressed similar to me if I had to guess. Anyone like that come through here yet today?" Himitsu hoped the man was undercover as he'd assumed he was. Otherwise he was sure everyone would hear about it. Luckily the man put on a confused face, and shook his head at Himitsu. "No, can't say I have. Tell you what you though, if you want to head on in I'll let him know where to find you." Himitsu agreed, and the man offered to show the boy where to go and where the lockers were. Once changed and settled, Himitsu tossed his things into the locker and secured it before sliding into the nice warm waters of the spring. He soaked his still sore hand in the water for a while, and rinsed his hair out thoroughly. After a half hour or so, he got out, dried himself off, and headed in to the locker room. Nestled in with his things was an unfamiliar scroll with the Konoha seal on it. Once dressed, he tucked the scroll into a pocket inside his jacket, and headed back to town.
After making his way through the gate check, he made a beeline for the Hokage's Office to drop off the scroll and give an update on the boar mission. With both of those complete, he headed for the market district. The sun was starting to set, so he had a good half an hour to kill before the earliest time he could officially start his patrol. With this in mind, he stopped at small noodle shop off the main road of the district. He picked up a big order of chicken and noodles to go, and slurped on the deliciousness as he slowly wandered through town looking at store fronts. The sun finally dipped under the horizon shortly after he finished his dinner. When it had, Himitsu began his patrol by climbing up onto the rooftops above. He wandered around above the district for a while, knowing some thieves preferred the aerial entrance to the obvious smash-and-grab. Tonight was a calm night however, and nothing out of the ordinary seemed to be going on up there. almost disappointed to not find anything after his eventful morning, Himitsu hopped down and strolled through the side streets and back alleys, but found very little to do. At one point he took pity on a cat being terrorized by a couple of dogs and shooed the canines away with shouts and food scraps from a nearby trash can. The cat showed its appreciation by growling and hissing at him before darting away into another side street, only to be chased back onto the main road by another dog. The boy simply let out a soft sigh, and did another pass through the dimly lit streets before heading back to the Hokage's Office for the final time tonight. On his way, he put the finishing touches on his written report, then tucked it into his pocket to turn into upon his arrival. Without issue, he turned in his reports and headed home, eager to begin working on his promotion application.

The sun hung lazily in the sky, taking its sweet time to warm the crisp morning air. Despite it being nearly 10AM, a damp chill hung around the village from the previous night's rain. Himitsu strolled casually up to the Academy for his first assignment of the day, coffee and breakfast wrap in his hands. Today was supposed to be an easy day at the academy, mostly just keeping an eye on the students during leisure times so another teacher could catch up some important work regarding the outgoing class. The Uchiha arrived just a few minutes before the first recess bell rang, and finished off his breakfast peacefully. When the bell chimed, he smiled and tossed his garbage in the nearby bin. "Perfect timing!"
A flood of small children erupted from one of the side doors of the school, releasing an almost physical wave of noise with them. They flooded into the yard and took to their various groups. Kids played on the swings, chased each other around the playground, and threw balls around for all kinds of games. Most took up the normal children activities, but there were always a few who tended to lean more into their education. Those were the kids Himi paid particular attention to, as their taijutsu practice often tended to devolve into schoolyard brawls at a moment's notice. At least, form Himi's memories of the Academy that was the case. His concern went unfounded however, as the bell rang once more and the children filed back into their classes without issue.
With recess over, Himitsu decided to pass the time until his next job with an old instructor. The older shinobi had a free period before lunch, so Himi knocked quickly before entering. Upon Himi's entrance, the shinobi seemed pleased to see him, greeting him with a smile and offering him another adult-sized chair. A glance over the teacher's desk revealed a rather complex-looking seal diagram on his desk. Although he couldn't figure out what it was, the seal seemed... off. When Himi asked about it, the instructor explained it's use, but mentioned it didn't work, and he'd been staring at it so long he couldn't make sense of it anymore. Together, the pair spent the hour going over the seal and making small amendments. Near the end of their time, they were finally able to make the proper adjustment, and get the seal working without exploding or creating a black hole.
Happy to have been of some help to a former-teacher, Himitsu smiled his whole way to the lunch room, where he posted up in a corner to watch over the students eat their lunches. He'd always thought it was silly to have people watching over the lunch space constantly, but he supposed things did occasionally break out at lunch time. Usually there was a prior issue in the day though, and recess had gone off without a hitch. This time, he'd hit the nail on the head, and lunch passed without issue. Once the last students cleared out, Himi helped wipe down tables quickly, then headed out of the Academy for the day.
Last on his list for today was a shift at the Front Gates of Konoha. He arrived early and got a full passdown, which had apparently been 4 hours of nothing. Himitsu hoped for the same, but kept a vigilant watch on the area around the gates regardless. Not confident in his assigned partner's wits, Himi decided to on the cautious side, and created a few shadow clones to sit around in the trees just outside the gate as well. His self-alarm system got no real use however, as the only comings and going from the gate were the usual certified merchants, and his sage sensory was enough to get a tip if anything was really wrong. With his relief on site, Himitsu stretched and headed home, grabbing some grilled kebabs from a cart on his way for dinner.

The chunin rubbed his eyes gently as he and his two genin underlings exited the village gates. It was still early, before dawn, as they started their trip up north into Earth Country. Yesterday, Himitsu had received a mission from the Hokage with directions to assist a settlement deep within an Earth Country mountain range. They'd sent complaints about a "massive stone bear that brought storms with it's wrath", Sadayo had explained with heavy skepticism. Apparently it'd caused significant damage to the town and injured many people, straining their already scarce medical capabilities. So, she'd opted to send Himitsu along with two young but capable medical shinobi to help out. They both agreed if an actual bear had anything to do with it, the Bear Sage would probably a good person to have on hand. If it wasn't, well... Still not a bad person to have around.
His team packed light for a quick journey. Although they took their time at first, they picked up their pace when the sun finally rose and illuminated their surroundings. Able to actually see and having already limbered up, the group made great time travelling north, arriving in the settlement just after sunset. Exhausted from their incredible pace and having skipped real meal breaks for the day, they checked into the still-in-repair hotel, enjoyed a mountain hot spring bath, and got some rest in before their day would begin. At dawn, the medics headed for the town's medical center, which wasn't much more than an oversized infirmary. There they worked to alleviate the strain the attack had clearly taken on the town's medical personnel. Himitsu left them with orders to spend their day there doing whatever was asked of them while he tracked down the origins of the supposed Storm Bear.
Himitsu spent the first couple hours of daylight asking around town about the bear. Consensus seemed to be that the bear just sort of... showed up. A giant roar echoed through the town, and suddenly a giant stone bear appeared on the edge of town, intense winds wiping around its body. The strangest bit that kept coming up was that it didn't seem interested in running amok through the town, it just tended to show up on the East side, flail about in a rage, wrecks a couple buildings near the edge of town, then wanders into the mountain pass before it dissipates. Thinking about the strangeness of it all, Himitsu made his way out of town heading east, following the trail of stones that had been embedded into the landscape recently, the dirt at their base still soft from the impact. It took it him a couple hours of tracking before the stones became too sparse to notice. When that plan went cold, he sighed and sat down on a smooth boulder nearby. There he sat for a while, just looking around and admiring the area.
A sudden booming sound in the distance caught his attention not long into his little break. He looked around for the source, and eventually spotted a small bear near cliff's edge, rolling a freshly broken tree off the edge. Confused, the Uchiha watched on as the truck went tumbling down the mountain face and into the valley below. Apparently satisfied with its work, it turned around and walked back, only to begin slamming itself into another tree. "What the hell...?" Filled with curiosity, Himi made his way to the bear's location as quickly as he could, following the sounds of low thumps and bark cracking. Without the strange echo to disturb the bear's grunts, Himitsu made out its apparently anger-filled chant as it assaulted the massive, unmoving tree. "Stupid...! Squirrel...! Stupid...! Squirrel...!" Up close now, Himitsu could now make out the intricate designs that glistened within the tiny bear's fur. Each time it slammed itself into the tree, the designs would glow a little brighter. "Are those... runes?" A stirring from within Himi's mind announced Matatabi's awakening from a two day nap. "Hmmmmm...? Oh? Yes, actually. It's been a loooooooooooong time since I've seen one of these, but they used to be all over this region, even stretching into your 'Konoha' at one point. The people that became what you now call the Uzumaki once had a special name for them, but eventually they simply became known to most as 'Rune Bears'. I'd thought them extinct."
Sympathy for the creature filled the jinshuuriki's heart for a moment, but was quickly replaced by mild fear as the tiny bear lost its cool and unleashed a stone barrage at the tree. In an instant the tree was turned to pulp, and the squirrels that inhabited it were sent flying in various directions. Apparently satisifed, the tiny bear sat on it's butt with a, "Hmmph!" A pouty look remained on its face. Himitsu took this chance, and approached with caution. "Heeyyy there! Whatcha doing?" The tiny bear's head turned to him quickly, and it hopped to its feet, standing on its hind legs, eyes wide, but not aggressive. It sniffed the air for a moment while trying to keep its eyes on Himi, then relaxed and stared him down for a moment. Then it spoke in a childish voice. "Hi! Do you wanna play?" The question stopped the boy in his tracks, and he stood there for a moment, processing. "That... depends. What kind of game...?"
"Any kind of game! Oh, as long as I can win! I like winning!" The bear cub responded in enthusiastically, clearly happy to be engaged.
"Well, it's not really a game if you only-"
"I don't like losing." This time she was more somber. Not a threat, just a simple, grim realization to be shared, apparently. "Oh-hohohohokay then... I don't think I can play right now, but maybe I can come back soon. I'd like to talk to your mom, if she's around?" In response, the cub sat back on her butt again, and looked down sadly. "We were all in the cave when I went to bed, but when I woke up, it was just me and some big rocks. Not my mom and dad." Himi's gut twisted and he had to fight back tears for the poor cub. "Oh man... I'm sorry, cub. You must get lonely up here. How about you let me take you somewhere with lots of people to play with? Bears to play with?" The cub's face light up, and so did its runes. Wind began spinning around them rapidly, threatening to launch Himi right off the cliff face. He managed to brace himself just barely, the winds stinging his face and drying his skin immediately. It died down quickly as the bear calmed down, its storm caused simply by its excitement. "I love playing games! Let's go!" After regaining his footing properly, Himitsu smiled tiredly at the cub once again. "Alright, but first I need to write down your name. Then I gotta poke your toe real quick with a needle. It'll just hurt for a second, you'll hardly notice." Carefully and with lots of further explanation, Himitsu signed the powerful cub into a contract with him, tied to the Contract of the Bears. Once the contract was complete, Himitsu picked the cub up, put her on his shoulders, and summoned them to Heiwana Mountain, for Jishiin to meet her new family. There he spent the evening getting Jishiin acclimated, and introducing her to Okame who tried to act disinterested, but couldn't hid his fascination with seeing a Rune Bear again himself. After a large dinner in Okame's Den, Himitsu left Jishiin with the bears, then popped back into the Earth Country. There he made his way back into the town.
The team spent an additional day in the mountain settlement helping rebuild before heading home. With no real concerns, the group took their time getting home, resting and eating as they desired. It took them two days to get home instead of grueling 16 hours of straight travel, but nobody had been that concerned with timelines to begin with. Such was the Way of the Bear, as Himi liked to remind the medical genin travelling with him. Eventually the did arrive home though, and Himitsu returned to the Hokage's office to give his report, before shuffling off to sleep in his own bed again.

Objectives
Contract your Mythical Summon: Jishiin the Rune Bear Cub
A strong wind blew through the forest, rattling the trees and hiding the movements of the four person team. Himitsu followed behind the team leader, an older jonin woman. They'd been given two missions for today. Their primary mission was tracking down a local "smuggler's den" a few hours south of Konoha. Their secondary mission was to apprehend a shady merchant known to be involved with said den. It'd been easy enough so far, as they'd followed a their smuggler straight out the gates and down the road without issue. In fact it was only a few more minutes before they arrived in a small town nestled into the woods. It couldn't have had more than three dozen buildings, with less a quarter of them being more than a single story. [8]
The team stayed back for a moment as their target wandered into town, taking a minute to disguise themselves slightly. When they spotted the man enter the bar on the main road, they entered the town as well. They gave another short count before trickling into the bar one at a time, so as not to be so obvious about being a group. Each took a spot in different parts of the bar, maximizing their visual coverage. However, after a few minutes of looking over the bar, Himitsu came to the conclusion that their mark wasn't in there. After nearly an hour, the team leader filed out of the bar, and the others followed shortly after. Finding it odd that he'd been able to disappear so quickly in such a small space, they agreed that the bar was likely their place. [7]
A plan was devised to monitor the bar, with two team members taking a two hour shift watching it from the outside for their target. If the target were to leave, orders were to follow only long enough to apprehend quietly and without alerting civilians. Once apprehended, one person was to stay with the captive while the other alerted the remaining two members waiting at the hotel up the road. Himitsu was one second watch, so he took the time until then to rest up, dozing off peacefully on one of the beds. When it was their watch, his partner nudged him awake, and they wandered down to swap out casually. [5]
Not even fifteen minutes into their shift, their suspect strolled out of the bar, sober as could be. He could have stood to be brighter though. The poor goon didn't have a clue he was being before Himi placed his hand on the man's shoulder and swung him into an alley. Before the man could make any noise, Himitsu channeled chakra through his hand and forced a genjutsu on him, putting him to sleep instantly. [ Sleep | Rank B ] As the man slumped down, Himitsu tightened his grip on the man and lowering him to the ground slowly. With him full unconscious, Himi sealed the man into Himi's own body, a small seal appearing on his forearm. His partner gave him a strange look. "Look, it's easier than trying to drag an unconscious person around, or hide him and wait for the others to get here. This way we can just... take him wherever." With a shake of her head, she turned and began heading back to the hotel. [10]
After meeting up with their team, Himitsu and the others headed back outside of town to "speak" with their captive. Once in a quiet place, Himitsu unsealed the man and tied him up while he was still out cold. When he awoke, the team captain took his time interrogating the smuggler. It didn't take long or even much coercion for the man to tell them that the entrance to the "den" was hidden beneath the bar. "There's a hatch! It's the floor of the cleaning closet beside the bathrooms! Opens right up!" Unfortunately this was the last useful bit of information he had. Confident they had what they needed, one of the other team members knocked the man out once again with some kind of pressure technique. Himitsu once again sealed the man away for easy transport, and the team made their way back to the bar. [9]
Unconcerned with stealth any longer, all four shinobi entered the bar together and made a beeline for the cleaning closet. Sure enough, the floor popped right up if you tugged on the slight gap between the boards. They filed in, and found another space beneath the bar nearly as big. Inside was, in fact, another small bar with two taps that ran from above, sitting directly across from a large counter with bars all around it. Several people sat at tables and stools around the area, mostly in pairs but sometimes more. All of them turned to see the shinobi enter and knew something was up. "You're all under arrest for enabling the trafficking of restricted and/or illegal items within the Land of Fire. Place your hands on your heads, and surrender peacefully." The team leader spoke loudly and confidence, but anticipated the outcome that came. [8]
Nearly in unison, the people in the bar stood quickly, several drawing weapons. A few were smart enough to follow direction, but not enough to deter Himitsu from making a general motion. Trying to avoid a fight, Himitsu stepped forward and launched a weak but attention grabbing fire technique, and used this flash of Spirit Fire to trigger his Sleep genjutsu once more. [ Flare Technique[ Shoumeidan no Jutsu ] | Rank E ] [ Sleep | Rank B ] In an instant the group stumbled over and hit the ground, sawing logs almost peacefully. A laugh came from one his team mates, but only a sigh came from the team leader. "Well that's one way to do that. Round them up." [6]
Within a few minutes, the group was rounded up, restrained, and sealed away within Himi's arm, completely covering his left arm in an intricate tattoo-like seal. They also took the time to gather the evidence from the den; various documents kept on leads, vague transactions, piles of cash, a few relics of some kind, and some other criminal odds and ends. Once those were packed away as tightly as possible, Himi sealed them away as well, tucking them into his right arm this time, filling that with the interesting seal as well. With their captives and evidence in custody, the team headed home to turn over their findings. While the other two chunin got to go home, Himi was required to give report with the jonin since their entire missions objectives were sealed up in him.
When he arrived to drop off the cargo however, he was redirected. The Hokage advised Himi to take the cargo to the JUEI office and help get it all registered. Despite his disappointment in being delayed from his bed, Himitsu did as directed without complaint. Luckily the ANBU were quick and methodical, logging the items with record speed. For each item, they requested a description of where it was found, by who, what was near it, etc., but it moved quickly as most of it had been in piles to begin with. Once the items were finally logged and the suspects booked, Himitsu was finally released. The Uchiha nearly sprinted home, where he had just enough time to shower and eat before telling his mom goodnight, and heading to bed.

With his hands in his hoodie pockets, Himitsu casually strolled toward the Academy. Today he'd planned to finally finish mastering his newest technique, and hopefully make some progress on an S-Rank fuuinjutsu technique he'd been studying for quite a while. Once he'd reached the back fields of the school, Himitsu found a particularly tucked away part of the property and got to work. For a while he simply practiced the hand seals, repeating them over and over againt without chakra applied in order to build the muscle memory. Once he was able to flash through the seals rapigly and without mistakes, he attempted the jutsu. This time his hands dropped to the ground, palms down, and a lsight rumble could be felt below his feet. A second later, a small stone cave entrance burst from ground, inviting the young man in. Himitsu smiled and stood, staring at the newly created cavern for a moment before heading in. The ground sloped down and became a stairwell quickly, leading Himi into a large empty space just below where he'd stood a moment before. Confident in his grasp on the technique, Himitsu repeated the signs once more and touched the ground again. This time he concentrated on the empty space around him, picturing the shapes and designs he wanted in his mind. Seconds later, the stone inside began to shift and spring from the walls. Soon the empty cavern had become a big stone lounge, complete with stone couches and tables. Half-walls and counters dotted the area as well now, segmenting the space into partitions and near-rooms. Pleased with himself, Himi plopped on the neared rock furniture and leaned back, admiring his new "Bear Den".
The jonin sat with himself for a few minutes in silence before leaning forward once more. From his jacket he pulled a small notebook where he'd been sketching out symbols. He flipped to a new page and got to work once more. Each page in the notebook had very similar drawings to one another, with only slight changes. At first glance, the page looked like a rough, almost geometric drawing of a bear's face. But further inspection by anyone more than a little familiar with seals would quickly recognize it at as one. Or at least, an attempt at one. Himitsu had been trying for weeks to work out how to fit all the pieces he needed into the seal for it to work properly and still look like a bear, but always came to the same issue when it came time to test. Today wasn't looking like it was going to be much different.
After several hours laying around his Den and sketching out seals, Himitsu had finally made progress. He'd been so focused on the details of the image and the intricacies of the seal, that he hadn't been working to actually simplify things. Most seals are typically designed to either repel or contain something for as long as possible, but this seal was different. It's entire focus was sealing, moving, and releasing, each as fast as mortally possible. That meant entire segments of the seal designed to recycle and maintain chakra within the seal could be cut out, while others could be trimmed and tweaked to allow for continuity of chakra through multiple seals. Himi's mind raced a mile a minute as he scrawled notes on a few more pages before using a few more to mpa out small segments of the seal instead of all at once. With each page complete, he ripped the page fromt he book and layed it out, stacking the sheets on one another until the full seal was completed. Then, he tried once more to create the entire seal on a single page, using the larger seperated version for reference. Small edits were made to piece together sections as he drew, his sharingan flicking on to guide his hand even more precisely as he went along.
When he'd finished, Himitsu tore the page from the book, imbued it with chakra, set it on the couch, and stepped across the den. Nervous, he took a shaky breath, formed a seal with one hand, and surged his chakra through his body and hand. In an instant, he was standing atop the stone couch, the notebook page beneath his feet. "YES!" The Uchiha erupted with excitement and thrust his fist in the air, scraping his knuckles on the ceiling and immediately recoiling to look at his hand. "Ow..." He rubbed hte dea skin from his knuckles and shook it off before climbing off his pedestal. Himi took another sheet of paper out once more, but this time instead of drawing the symbol, he simply held the page for a moment. Once he'd concentrated for a moment, Himitsu placed the page between his palms and hit it with chakra. This time, the seal was placed into the page itself with chakra, no need for writing utensils. Just to confirm it worked, Himi let it fall to the floor as he walked across the room, then attempted the technique again. Once again Himi flashed across the room in an instant, even from his perspective.
Having made incredible progress for the day, Himitsu hummed to himself as he collected his shreds of paper from the day and crammed them in one of his pockets. Himi tore the working seals he'd made before pocketing them, as he'd noticed when he activated the technique that having multiple seals made it harder to focus on his desired one. Once the mess was gone, Himi knelt down in the middle of the room and put his hand on the ground. With a burst of finely controlled chakra, Himi's Bear-shaped Hiraishin seal took shape beneath his hand on the den's floor. Ever-cautious, he tested the seal before leaving, then made his way of the den. He took a moment to conceal the entrance slightly, just to make it less likely for somebody to stumble on later. Not that the den being found was an issue, but Himi like the idea of having his own little hidden spot in the village. "Worst-case scenario I could always move it, I guess..." Tired from a day's hard work, Himitsu meandered back home. There he made himself a small dinner, then took a bath before bed. Before settling in to sleep however, Himitsu pulled aside the small mat in his room, and created a seal on the floor of his room. With it in place, Himi slide the mat back over it, and crawled into bed for the night.

The dark cavern hidden below the back fields of the Saegahara Academy suddenly lit with blue flames as its creator instantly popped into existence within it, bathed in black and blue embers. Himitsu thudded onto the ground from a few inches up, landing face-down. Normally such a small fall would be nothing, but with most of his skin burned off from intensity of Matatabi's chakra in Demon Cloak phase 2, and the serious exhaustion wracking his body, it was like like being throw into an iron maiden. A wince escaped his mouth as he lied there for a moment, tears rolling down his face not from the physical pain that surrounded him, but from the guilt and shame that flooded him. He'd let his emotions get the better of him, and it had spiraled out of control rapidly. What started as a minor outburst spun out into a massive battle with a friend that ruined a section of town and likely two of the few friendships he still had left. He'd given in to Matatabi's trap, Kurama's taunts, and his own Uchiha nature; the same nature he'd sworn he wouldn't fall into like everyone else.

"Shut up! Enough! Just. Stop. TALKING!"
The outburst surprised the bijuu at first, but her indignant pride wouldn't let her back down. Matatabi started speaking once again, but was cut off almost immediately. "STOP! I'm not doing this anymore. Not here at least. I'm shutting you up until I'm ready to deal with you." If the beast protested, it was silenced quickly as Himitsu forced his arm up to his torso. The scholar held his hand over the seal containing the bijuu within him and reached out to it with chakra. Once connected, Himitsu strengthened the seal with his own chakra, and felt Matatabi's presence weaken. Suddenly she didn't feel like she was just below the surface anymore, his consciousness merely a thin a buffer between hers and the world. Now Himitsu was just him again, and it was quiet. And lonely.
Himi lied in silence on the den floor for several minutes, letting his emotions rage on for some time before reigning himself in once more. Once he'd calmed himself down some, he dismissed the Ember Cloak and made another sign before teleporting away from the den, butt naked. Thankfully his destination was his own bedroom, where he quickly packed a back in the nude, letting his skin slowly heal back over the raw flesh across his body. His half-Junsei physiology expedited the process, allowing him to get dressed without serious pain or bleeding through the clothes in minutes. Dressed and bag packed, Himitsu scribbled his mom a note about where he was going, then spent several minutes writing in a small scroll. There he pricked his finger tip with a senbon from his pouch, then formed a few handsigns to summon The Triad. All three bears popped into being around him, taking defensive positions immediately. "Relax guys. There's no fight. I just need a ride and favor." Himitsu handed the scroll with notes in it off to the small polar bear, and directed him to take it to the Hokage's Office. "Only give that to the Hokage: Sadayo. Got it?" The bear nodded, then darted off down the street with the scroll in his mouth to faithfully fulfill his duty. Seeing his summon head off with the scroll, Himi turned to the remaining two bears and gave them a sad-smile. "Alright you guys... Take us home." Himitsu laid a hand on each bear, then all three of them disappeared into a puff of smoke, the bears returning them to Heiwana Mountain.
Several minutes after Himi and the bears had arrived to the Sage Lands, the tiny Polar Bear of The Triad arrived at the Hokage's newest office. Unfamiliar with the new building, the bear wandered the office frightening some guests and even a few employees before he was finally intercepted. Having seen this as the most likely scenario, Himitsu had left a tag on the scroll indicating it was from him and clearly marked for the Hokage only. It took some time and effort, and a few people to almost lose hands trying to rip the scroll away from the bear before the scroll finally made it to Sadayo. The tiny bear was carried into her office by an aide where it was dropped on the floor unceremoniously. the bear popped up apparently unphased, and wandered over to Sadayo's desk. It climbed over the back just enough to deposit the scroll in the middle of her desk before letting himself fall on the floor again. He gave a tiny wave, then poofed away back to the bear lands. Within the scroll was a note from Himitsu explaining the difficulty he's had with adjusting to the demon, and the strain his team's relationship has had since "the marketplace incident". Knowing she'd be made aware at some point anyway, Himi cited the fallout between him and Miki, and Mina's very necessary intervention. It then went on to explain he'd already left for Heiwana Mountain, and would remain there training, until he was sure he could handle hosting Matatabi. It mentioned The Triad would check in roughly every week ("Time gets weird here... " ) to get any necessary news or updates for Himi, but Himitsu himself would not be returning for some time. Finally, he apologized for the disaster, and expressed how he hoped to be back soon.

As Himitsu hurried along the road, a strange heavy silence fell on his ears. He didn't stop, not at first, but he took note. When he was just a few minutes outside the city, he realized where he was. Bochimura. A dead city, post apocalypse. His first big mission failure. They'd been sent in to find a recon team, only to find a city overflowing with animated corpses taking orders from psychopathic traitors. In an attempt to clean out the zombies, they'd ruined much of what left of the city with a massive sandstorm, courtesy of a rat god. Himitsu had been in a hurry, but the others were still locating the island anyway.
Himitsu strolled through the silent streets, corpses still laying about streets, decay just seeming to set in recently, as if even the microbiology in the area had been disrupted by the evil magic here. As he walked, his eyes throbbed more and more. They'd grown painful at the house, and it was becoming unbearable. As he passed another pile of finally-dead undead, his eyes finally erupted. Himitsu groaned painfully as his eyes felt like they'd had embers thrown into them. In an instant, the bodies ahead burned with black and blue shadows, darker and more intense than anything Himitsu had ever thrown forth before. The power of Amaterasu.
His vision shifted and swam for a moment, but eventually stabilized. It seemed as if Amaterasu had burned away some of the light of the world, a strange sensation Himitsu wouldn't be able to shake for some time. He'd heard stories of the black flames, but never seen them himself until now. His mother's murder had awaken them in him, elevating his eyes to another level of power many clansman would never obtain. A level that unlocked countless abilities many considered to be gifts from the gods themselves. Heavenly gifts or not, he would master them, as he would not waste a fleck of the power that had come at the cost of his mother.
The longer he stared at the horrific flames, the more he could feel them. Not the heat of the flames, something more innate. How they moved, where they wanted to go, how badly they craved to consume. He stared, and focused, and slid his heterochromatic eyes across the tendrils that flicked and waved. As the flames finished their meal of corpses, they pooled and thinned across the flat ground, desperate to find another plentiful food to consume, Himitsu tightened his core, and felt the flames pull together at a point. In an instant, the flames retracted and swirled into a small ball before puttering out, seemingly extinguished.
A few moments rest, a rubbing of the eyes, and a deep breath later, and Himitsu moved on to the next attempt. He focused on a massive pile for a moment, then pushed fire chakra through his sharingan. Much less painful this time, and far more efficient, the pile blasted into deep dark flames rapidly. As it burned, Himitsu continued to flow fire chakra through his sharingan, trying to mold the flames. It was subtle at first, but eventually the fire began to swirl in spirals, wrapping around the pile as opposed to simply smoldering down it.
When he'd managed to get it consistent, he didn't bother to extinguish the flames this time. Now, Himitsu simply slid the evil flames across the street and onto the heap, and the next. Each time, he focused on manipulating the flames into different shapes, movements, speeds, etc. By nightfall, the Uchiha was creating calligraphy and playing out small scenes in the streets, scorch marks left on the paving stones all over the city. Exhausted and sore, his eyes particularly pained, Himitsu knocked down the door of a house in town and shuffled around in the impossibly dark home until he found a soft spot to sleep. There he would lay until morning.
When morning did come, Himitsu woke to find it particularly dim and dull. Nonetheless, he rolled off the couch still very bleary-eyed and made his way to the kitchen. There he rifled through the cupboards until he vaguely identified what was probably a cereal, and began shoveling handfuls of dry, slightly stale breakfast cereal into his mouth. Box in hand, Himi walked out into the streets once again, and found that he still couldn't quite see right, even in the clear light of the sun. He rubbed his eyes a few more times, blinked, and groaned when nothing happened. It was then that the thought occurred to him... Himitsu looked down and lit a small patch of Amaterasu and slid it around the street for a while, growing and shrinking it for quite some time. After a few minutes though, Himitsu could tell the world had literally gotten darker. His stomach sank, and his hands drifted to his face. "I do believe it is what you fear." Matatabi all but confirmed his concern. "Using this effects my vision....?" A sigh escaped him, and he sat down on the curb. As he stared through his fingers, he noticed the slight scratches in his hands knitting closed, and something the Konoha Doctor had mentioned to him about Junsei. The more he thought on it, the more hopeful he became. The sharingan let him see and understand parts of his biology he'd neve considered before, and his biology had never been more adaptable. Himitsu pushed charka through his hands and he stared intently with his sharingan, watching the carious ways his body responded to it. It took him most of the day, but he was honing in on a certain frequency of chakra that his junsei biology specifically responded to. Just as the sun was setting, Himitsu managed to get his hand to glow brightly with an even coating of a light green chakra. With hope, he moved his glowing hands up to his eyes, and breathed a sigh of relief. Himitsu held them there for a few seconds, until the sensation faded and the light dimmed as well. Using his junsei biology's affinity for iryojutsu and self-repair, he'd managed to heal his eyes, stabilizing the chakra flow through the sharingan to ease the pain, as well as curing the blindness it had already begun inflicting upon him. Leaving his eyes closed, Himitsu leaned back slowly on the ground for a nice break, but felt his gut sink when he kept falling back past when he expected the ground to be, as if he'd just free fallen backwards from a ledge. A few heartbeats later than anticipated, himitsu hit the ground and opened his eyes, only to find the landscape drastically different. and far scarier.

Himitsu clambered to his feet once he hit something solid again. As he looked around with his newly repaired eyes, he pieced together that he was still in Bochimura, but not quite the one he'd just been in. Sections of the street were clearly much older than the rest, and floors of multistory buildings hovered above old shacks, disjointed and defying physics. Several times, buildings seemed to shift before his eyes, morphing into other ones or disappearing altogether. The one constant around him however, were the ghostly apparitions of people dying around him. All through the street were scenes of people being stabbed, crushed beneath ghostly animals, falling from scaffolds or windows, and a dozen other unfortunate and abrupt ends. The most common one was the one that affected Himi the most, as he'd witnessed the immediate aftermath of them. Practically half of all the scenes included the person being mobbed by a mass of other ravenous looking people, already dead and merely controlled by a mystical force. Of course he couldn't have stopped it, but a part of him still felt guilty for not being able to fix it somehow.
Once the shock of the strange surroundings and gruesome sights wore off, Himitsu gave some thought as to where he actually was. Of course this looked like Bochimura, but everything was ethereal and ghastly here. Deciding he might learn more by exploring, Himitsu set about wandering the disjointed streets, occasionally dodging around trees that materialized into the landscape at random. Once Himi approached the edge of town and the shadows began to even out in the area, he realized that it wasn't just this strange place that made it hard to see, but there was certainly a slight cloudiness to his sight. It wasn't dissimilar to how his vision has shifted the day before as he torched corpse piles, and things began to fall into place. A soft sigh echoed within his mind as his mental companion gave up on holding her tongue. "You know, despite the capacity in here, you're awfully dull sometimes."
Himi stopped moving and couldn't stop himself from physically reacting to her taunt, blinking nad shaking his head slightly. "Oh come on, I didn't even do anything! What are you sulking about now?" Matatabi's laugh sounded off for a moment before she spoke. "You find yourself in a ghastly realm filled with death, and didn't think for a moment I might have some insight?" A rush of blood came to Himi's face as she spelled it out for him. She did have a point. "I- You... Have a point... Believe it or not I prefer not to think of your connection to death. Especially recent events withstanding..." A scowl washed over his face before he continued. "So... What do you know? What's up with all this?" Clearly relieved to let it out, Matatabi answered without further teasing. "We're in a place called The Veil. Some people describe it as a realm between the world of the living and the afterlife, but that's not quite accurate. It's more like... a void where death echoes. When a life ends, it leaves an imprint on the world, and those imprints can be seen from here, as they happened and in the time they happened. However, unlike an echo which gets weaker over time, these echoes never lose their strength. they simply get diluted by the constant addition of new echoes, and repeat less frequently. Or at least that holds true in places people die more often. Of course, remote places with little life tend to have less death as well, so just something to consider."
Himitsu listened as she spoke, slightly concerned over the revelation but ultimately keeping quiet. Once she'd finished, he stood quietly for a moment before speaking. "Okay... So how the hell do we get out?" No response came for a moment, which did not fill Himi with confidence. "Well, I-"
"Have no idea?"
"Honestly, yes."
Himi sighed and rubbed his temples for a moment. "Okay... Well... Hmmm. So if it's affected my eyes, it must be tied to the sharingan, right? At least getting here? And if I got here with it, I must be able to get out with it, right? I mean it makes sense?" Matatabi remained quiet, but Himi took a lack of argument or mocking as a good sign. With a deep breath and a slight sigh, Himi began concentrating and spinning chakra within his eyes. It was a strange sensation, but not entirely unfamiliar. Since the moment the sharingan had manifested, there had always been the slight twinge of chakra flowing through them, but he'd never needed to manipulate it to the extent he had the last few days. After a few minutes of this though, Himi saw results. A tiny window of color pulled open in front of him, revealing the world he was familiar with. Within seconds though it slammed shut, leaving Himi with little more than a headache and frustration. It was progress though, so Himi took a moment to relieve his pain, and began again. It took a few tries, but each was better than the last until Himi was finally able to steady the portal long enough to step through it, and return to the normal world. A sigh of relief escaped him as he clumsily got to the ground and sat on the curb, head in hands as he rested his head and eyes. Certain his vision had taken a hit from the strain, he left them closed and gathered chakra in his hands as he'd done earlier. A few minutes passed before they took on a greenish glow once again, and seemed to pulse slowly as he moved them over his head and eyes slowly until the pain and stress subsided.

After scavenging something semi edible and seeking out a decent bed, Himi got himself fed and well-rested. In the morning, he set out on his journey once more. After exiting through the southern gate, he followed the main road for a few hours, relieved to hear the sounds of nature return after the first few miles. What was less relieving, was the discovery of a handful of people that had begun following him around noon. Clearly they assumed they'd gotten the drop on him, as they put in the effort to keep some distance between themselves and Himi for now, stopping when he did, and moving again in time with him. This went on for a few miles before irritation set in for Himi. A few more minutes passed before he truly gave in. With a sigh, he stopped in the middle of the road and turned around, arms crossed. His sharingan clearly highlighted the four men's chakra signatures scattered about the woods behind him, although they didn't know yet they'd been had. Not that it took long for Himi to warn them.
"You lot have 15 seconds to come out. After that, I'm dragging you out. Your choice." The jounin shouted into the forest, already expecting the latter course of action. A response came sooner than he expected however, and in a method he'd only slightly anticipated. For some reason though, their response royally pissed him off. Just before the trio of shuriken flung from the forest sank into his flesh, a blast of dark purple chakra exploded from Himi, turning the projectiles to ash in an instant. The flickering cloak of chakra waved and shifted, towering above the man for several feet. "Wrong answer."
The first of the bandits was dead in seconds. He'd hidden himself in a bush, but was still plenty visible to Himitsu's advanced dojutsu. Without a moment's hesitation, Himitsu lit the man ablaze with the thick black and cobalt flames of Amaterasu. He screams scattered the bird hiding amongst the trees, and drew the attention of his comrades for just a second. Unfortunately for one of them, that was all the time Himitsu needed to close the gap between them. Before the second criminal could peel his eyes from his smoldering companion, he found himself pinned to the tree he'd taken cover behind, two blades of a partially opened windmill shuriken slid through his torso. He choked and gurgled as blood filled his lungs and he struggled to pull the shuriken from him, his attempts getting weaker second by second.
A slight pressure from behind revealed one of the remaining two bandits had found the courage (or lost enough brain cells) to launch another attack at Himitsu. His strikes practically bounced off the intense aura surrounding Himi, irritating him more. Himi turned to face the ballsy attacked, and let out a low growl as he swatted the man away. To the brigand's credit, he tumbled out of the strike and regained his footing quickly. Actually surprising Himi, the man flashed a few handsigns and lowered one hand as lightning sparked around it. The static grew quickly into a sparking heap, but stopped short of a proper chidori. This didn't stop the scoundrel from sprinting forward with the pitiful attempt and striking forward at Himi. "Pathetic!" With his shout, the aura grew stronger, doubling in size and taking on a solid shape for the first time. Just before the bastardized chidori collided with the aura, it solidified into a ribcage, dispersing the lightning along its torso and grinding the man to halt. Before he could recover, a skeletal arm shot from the ribs above them, and swatted him away like a fly. The man was sent hurdling into a tree, where he crumpled into a motionless heap at the base. Three down, one to go.
Apparently, the fourth one was the smartest. He'd watched his comrades get stomped like the bugs they were, and decided he didn't need to join them. Unfortunately, that'd already been decided for him. As the coward sprinted down the path, a slight whizzing noise with a quiet rapid flapping accompanying it flew past his ear. Initially he assumed the man had just missed, but a few steps later Himi popped into existence in the middle of the path. The Uchiha had stuck a Flying Thunder God seal to a senbon and launched it past the man, teleporting to it once it'd passed him. The thief couldn't stop himself in time, and slammed into the skeletal frame of chakra. In a final attempt to save his dignity, he drew a knife and scrambled to his feet. Deceiving nobody, he stammered out a few words. "You won't- This is- I'm not afraid of you!"
Himitsu didn't bother to stifle his laugh at the man's ridiculous statement. Instead of pointing out the obvious, Himitsu let the man have his few second. "Ha! Hmm, sure. Well then... How about now?" For the first time so far, Himi intentionally dumped more chakra into the monster surrounding him. In a grotesque display, muscle fibers erupting from the aura and wrapping themselves around the bones, and manifesting a gruesome, sneering face atop the torso. A second arm developed as well, both of them placing their hands palm down when finished, as if pulling itself out of hell. Himitsu watched his victim intently as the monster formed, and took a twisted pleasure in watching a dark spot spread across the front of the man's pants.
To his credit, the bandit managed to stay on two legs as he stumbled backward, futilely swinging his knife wildly in front of him occasionally. Himitsu laughed cruelly and strode forward slowly, maintaining the gap between the two. Like a cheap horror villain, he kept a steady pace as the thief practically fell over himself in fear, still pretending to fight back in order to preserve his own self image, apparently unaware he'd clearly already pissed himself. Eventually tiring of the theater, Himitsu swung a massive chakra arm into the ground, sending the man tumbling a** over ankles down the path. "Come on, Mr. Brave! Fight me!" Himi waited for the man to stand before smacking him directly this time. He spun a few times in the air, the sound of bones cracking audible upon his landing. "Fight back!" He'd barely stood this time before being struck again, crunching on impact this time. His landing was much rougher this time, his recovery much slower. Sensing he was at his end, Himitsu closed the gap and snatched the man up in his chakra hand, squeezing the air out of him. The Uchiha had given into his rage, if it hadn't been apparent before. He pumped the emotions he'd help back for days into his muscles, into his chakra, letting it consume every aspect of him. Those who preyed on the weak had taken his mother from him, and here were four men who did the same as those filthy cultists. They served no better, and would get no mercy.
"I SAID... FIGHT BACK!" Himitsu cocked back and launched the man into the air, his barely-conscious body spinning into the sky like a ragdoll from a catapult. Himitsu let loose a feral scream and a massive burst of chakra. With this last push, the monster surrounding him grew once more and took on a complete form, the loose sliding muscle covered by skin and quickly concealed by dark armor. Just as the brigand began its descent to the earth, the Susano'o seemed to flex, before a bow materialized in its hands and it drew back an arrow. A fraction of a second later it released it, sending a chakra projectile directly into the criminal, resulting in an explosion of energy which vaporized the crook instantly. With all of them dead, Himitsu was left standing in the road, breathing heavily and looking crazed with a massive purple monster enveloping him. It took a moment, but eventually the manifestation faded, and Himi fell to his knees, exhausted from his excessive outburst. His eyes ached and the world dimmed and grew blurry. Knowing what was likely to come next, Himi dragged himself into the tree line, slapped a seal onto a nearby rock about the size of a baseball, and drifted off to sleep in a moderately comfortable bush. Just as he drifted off, a blue cat sprouted out around the rock and took a seat beside Himi. A sigh escaped her as she glanced over her host. "You'll have to deal with your loss eventually, boy. Or you'll ruin yourself..." A stranger might assume she hadn't realized he was out cold, but she was fully aware. The reality was she just refused to admit she had any amount of concern for him.
