Ryuken had decided to do some work to earn the right to advance to the Chūnin rank. For this, he had to work the groveling trash missions that did not bring great honor or prestige first. He looked for a mission board in Earth Sector and realized that his first task would be to find Milky, a white cat. Milky enjoyed going to high places and often climbed the piping according to their owner. After a short investigation in the areas that Milky had been mentioned, Ryuken noticed a scared-looking cat that was all white on a window ledge several hundred feet up a building. Using his Art of Surface Climbing jutsu that all Shinobi learn, it was an easy task to climb up the building and retrieve Milky. Returning Milky to the owner, however, proved to be an additional task as they did not specify where their home was. This meant Ryuken needed to do some investigation work, and that would involve a few hours of doing so. With his investigation skill as a Genin, he did find the owner of Milky which was Miss Pahgy Mae, who spoke with a southern twang in Japanese dialect.

Miss Pahgy however, had additional tasks for Ryuken since he was in the area. Her fence was damaged and she needed it rebuilt. Ryuken had no qualms fixing her fence for her since it meant more mission work completion and the prestige requirements for advancement. Using tools belonging to Miss Pahgy’s last husband, Ryuken began to repair the damaged fence. He would put in stakes and slam them in. While it was no professional fence builder’s work it was at least to Amegakure code, since Ryuken did not want this woman to get into trouble. Milky came down to nuzzle Ryuken and let him know that he was happy he was brought home to his master Miss Pahgy. All in all it was a decent day, and Ryuken was going to be happy to be able to move beyond work that he was actually superior too. Returning to Miss Pahgy when he was finished, Ryuken was asked to also clear her bathroom shower. It would appear that Milky liked to shower with his master. That was a lot of cat hair in the drain.

Tasked with some stronger work more befitting a shinobi, Ryuken would meet with a new client. Their name was Erune Maeger, a scrawny young man, he looked as though he was starving and more of a corpse than a living being. Erune spoke out explaining, “Yeetkhasa is my ex girlfriend. She’s been stalking me. She believes we should be married. But, she is abusive. She hurt me…” He seemed to start to look down and tears welled up in his eyes. “I… I want you to frighten her. Frighten her, so she never bothers me again.” Ryuken understood his task. After finding out where she lives, he would head into the Earth Sector and locate her residence. Reaching the residence, Ryuken would then stake it out late, waiting until it was absolutely too dark for him to be spotted given what he had to do. Breaking in through an open unlocked window, he would sneak inside and found Yeetkhasa sleeping in her. Using the Transformation Jutsu, Ryuken turned into Erune Maeger and would nudge her awake. “Erune! How did you… What are you doing here?” She seemed to be happy to see him. “Did you change your mind about me?” Creepily staring at her Ryuken did not immediately respond. Instead he would walk over to the kitchen and turned on the faucet, letting it fill with water and spill over. “What are you doing, Erune? I can’t afford water damage.”

That was when Ryuken did not turn around and he said, “I couldn’t afford the pain you caused me. But, that’s okay, because we can drown together.” The room started to fill with water. Then Ryuken would jump up and onto Yeetkhasa, grabbing her by the neck and pulling her down into the kitchen floor filled with water. ”Wait… you’re not… I’ll scream!” As she seemed to resist, Ryuken would dunk her head under water and she coughed. He kept dunking her head under as he let her up after a couple minutes. “You will leave Erune alone for good. Or something far worse will happen to you. And you had best never speak to KASA or anyone else about what happened here, do you understand? We know where you live. We are Legion.” Dunking her head under one more time, he would let go of her and open the door, letting the water fall out. With the use of Water Manipulation, he’d drain it into a nearby drain drying up the place and leave as if he never came. She never bothered Erune again.

Ryuken had been hired by a traveling circus to be a bodyguard. He was to protect Boouozoo the Clown who had been on his final clowning tour before retirement. They did not know who the assassin was, but several attempts had been made on Boouozoo’s life. There was the idea proposed that it could be someone who was part of the circus already, which is why Ryuken had been hired. He thought it would be a great opportunity to learn superior acting and deceptive skills as well as intrigue and investigation. Discovering the one that was hiding was going to be a great challenge in itself. “So, Booozoo, what exactly is clowning and how did you get into such a profession?” Ryuken had asked the man who was dressed in a clown suit with makeup and a big black nose. In some ways, he was quite terrifying in appearance. Why anyone would want these to show up at parties and at events was beyond him. “Clowning is an art form that performs. People love it, especially children. I don’t know why people don’t get it.” Naturally Ryuken would smirk at Boouozoo whom seemed to clearly not be paying attention to whomever had it out for him. Realizing that he needed to become part of this circus in order to discover who was after him, he decided to become a water trick artist.

At some of the shows, Ryuken would find himself using the Water Manipulation Jutsu to not only create water with the moisture in the air, but to also manipulate, mold, and transform it into different arrays such as mist or sudden sprays, as well as rapidly boiling or freezing it. While he could not manipulate ice like a Ice Style bloodline user, Ryuken felt quite comfortable at least lowering the temperature of water. Some of the local families would come by to watch Ryuken and in a way, he did find their unique smiles and gazes interesting. Those of the Cistern who recognized him were most interested in his show there. They would only be in Amegakure for a short time before traveling to Arashigakure. Getting to know some of the other performers, there was a ‘Strong Man’ whom seemed to be a Hozuki that knew how to manipulate his body mass very well, there was an illusionist that was just a big genjutsu Kurama member, and there was a transformation jutsu specialist as well as Boouozoo who did not possess jutsu but rather just an assortment of strange toys. His possessions were oddities from plastic balls to slinkies to instruments that made obnoxious sounds. Truly, only someone who was developmentally lacking or a child would find clowning an artistry. Nonetheless, Ryuken found himself becoming part of the traveling circus now.

As they traveled further, they would get into the Land of Floods, performing for some of the outskirt cities before the main floating village in Arashigakure. As Ryuken learned more of the stories of the members in the traveling circus, he found each of them had plenty of motivation to have Boouozoo assassinated. Boouozoo had extramarital affairs with the Strong Man’s wife, from the Kurama he would steal over fifty percent of their ryo tips, and from the transformation specialist it was apparent the Boouozoo was actually blackmailing them to perform for him without pay. This made it difficult for Ryuken to figure out which one was planning his death. But, was it truly only one of them? All of you have a reason to have the clown killed. I don’t know what to believe here. Once they reached Arashigakure, Ryuken had been on high alert believing that the assassin had to have been planning to make their move in this village. After all, it was a village with a history of being expansionist and dangerous. That was when Ryuken had found himself carefully watching Boouozoo’s movements. They would perform in a few shows there in Arashigakure, but it was when they returned to the traveling wagons when things started to get strange. The Strong Man had been missing. And on top of that, they seemed to be experiencing a sense of dejavu. Trees they passed were seemingly the same as before as well as other landmarks. Using Kai, Ryuken found himself being freed of a genjutsu, and he would free Boouozoo as well. Where was the Kurama clan member? That was the only one that made sense now.

Once they made it back to the trailer, they found the Strong Man tied up and the Kurama clansman holding a knife to his neck. “Put the knife down. You don’t need to do this.” The Kurama seemed to not respond verbally, instead pressing the knife closer to his neck, some blood trickling. “You need to get out of here. He said he’ll let me go if you just get out.” The Strong Man seemed to whimper as he called out instructions. Ryuken knew a life was at stake, so there was no choice but to obey the commands. As they had left, a flash of smoke occurred and then an explosion, the wagon destroyed. That was when they were met by the Transformation Jutsu specialist in the circus. “Come with me and I’ll get us out of Arashigakure safely. It seems that the Strong Man didn’t make it… I can’t believe that Kurama would do this.” As they got into another wagon, the Transformation Jutsu specialist had been in the front seat driving them. That was when Ryuken could feel a very light tapping at the seat below him. Placing his ear to the seat, he hurt shuffling. Using his fingers to make a visual ‘hush’ sound, he would look beneath the seat and find the Kurama member tied up. Everything made sense now. But, as Ryuken was about to do something, the wagon drove off the side of a cliff edge and they fell.

The group would end up in a pool of water, the wagon submerging. But, Ryuken would carefully grab the clown Boouozoo and bring him to safety. Unfortunately, he could not also save Kurama. As they made it to safety, Ryuken saw standing atop the water was the Transformation specialist, holding what looked like a chidori. As the man rushed towards Boouozoo, Ryuken would use a Hoshigaki secret jutsu called The Wake, causing the entirety of the surface to become unstable for anyone. Even with increased chakra, the Transformation specialist could not find themselves able to withstand it and fell beneath the surface. Then to finish him off, Ryuken would dive in and use Aqua Jet, slamming into the Transformation specialist and holding him deep below. The man had not been trained to stay under water long and suddenly began to choke as he started to bring in water. He was drowning. Unfortunately, in order to protect his mission target, he would ensure the man drowned beneath the water and had no chance to regain himself. This was one way that victory could be ensured. Returning to the surface, Ryuken now would approach Boouozoo and explain, “You are a horrible man Boouozoo. But, I’m not paid to judge. I’m paid to get a mission complete. I hope losing your circus was worth the evil you’ve committed. May the gods judge you fairly.” Ryuken would return home to Amegakure.
