He was their second child, born two years after his brother Alvin. George was a Squib without knowing it and unbeknownst to him, Simon had been born Magical. George worked for a local tax preparation company as a CPA and Victoria managed a local chain of a bakery/restaurant. They lived a comfortable life in Huntington Heights, a suburb of Los Angeles. At a young age, it became apparent that Simon was a book nerd as he learned to read much faster than his siblings. When Simon was three, his parents added Lizzie to the family, and again at seven, they added Jessica. Simon also enjoyed surfing and the weekend beach trips his family was forced to take because of him. When he turned eleven, he received a letter and a visit from someone from Salem Witches Institute, revealing the magical world to the Whittaker family.xxx𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈xxxxxxSimon was excited to explore this brand new world revealed to him, despite his parents' initial fear about sending their child away. He traveled to Salem for school and was placed into the Hare house. As he had with Muggle schooling, Simon excelled at classes. He also joined a couple clubs, excited by their premises.
xxxSecond year, Simon got into playing Quidditch and tried out for the Chaser position. He didn't make the main team his first year playing, but he enjoyed helping the team practice.
xxxDuring his third year, Si did make the main team and scored three goals in his first season. He also befriended a girl from his year named Angelica Tather.
xxxAs he progressed into fourth year, he became the second in command of the Magizoology club, with the captain being a seventh year and wanting him to take over after graduation.
xxxFor fifth year, Simon was selected as Prefect of Hare House and also became the captain of the Magizoology club. While studying for the CAT exams, he became close with Angelica and the two started dating.
xxxMoving into the WITS classes, Simon did drop some of the classes he didn't particularly enjoy, despite earning passing grades in all his classes.
xxxIn seventh year, Simon did quit the Quidditch team so that he could focus more on his studies, since he wanted to be sure he did well on his final exams. That also meant putting his relationship with Angelica on hold for a bit.xxx𝒜𝒹𝓊𝓁𝓉𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxxxxxAfter graduation, Simon moved back to Los Angeles and convinced Angelica, who was from the Midwest, to move in with him. While he enjoyed being able to go surfing any time again, she wound up hating the constant heat. He got a job working at a magical business managing the financial books while she went to work for the US Ministry. Despite everything seeming fine in their relationship, Angelica was growing to resent him. After two years of dating after graduation, Simon went to pop the question, but Angelica said no. She had decided to move back home and broke up with Simon, ending their five year relationship.
xxxSimon naturally was heartbroken but he wasn't the type of person to chase after someone when they left his life. Thankfully he could still afford his apartment on a single income and he was making decent money as it was. However, after Angelica, he did struggle to maintain serious relationships, dating several women but none more than a few months. He changed apartments and tried to move past her, but everything was continuing to remind him of his first love. So, with a heavy heart, he decided that he needed to move somewhere not his home town. He looked into different magical communities around the world and settled on Hogsmeade in the UK. There wouldn't be any surfing there, but he could always visit his parents if he wanted to go surfing. Simon discovered that there was a book shop in need of a new owner and he'd saved up quite a bit of money, so he purchased the shop and moved his life to the UK.
xxxAfter setting up his shop and moving his belongings in, Simon began to explore the new village he was calling home. He met a bunch of the villagers, include a shop owner named Tzuki Zhoao-Jennings who owned and ran the Hobbit Hole, a game shop. They immediately bonded over their shared love of nerdy game stuff. She has two older brothers, Alvin and Simon, and one older sister named Lizzie. Unbeknownst to the family, her father George was a Squib and had been adopted by her grandfathers. However, the family did find out that magic was real when Simon turned eleven and a school representative arrived. Jessie was four when her brother Si went off to Salem Witches' Institute. Alvin was upset that he wasn't magical too. At the age of six, Jessie got into skateboarding and would routinely visit the many skate parks in LA. When Lizzie turned eleven, the family expected the representative from the school to show up again, but alas, they didn't. Lizzie was upset, much like Alvin had been. She was even more upset when, on Jessica's eleventh birthday, the representative showed up again.xxx𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈xxxxxxJessie was looking forward to Si being able to show her around Salem, but he had graduated the year before. However, Jessie still made a ton of friends her first year. She was placed into the Coyote house, which made sense for her active self. The girl also brought along her skateboard, which grew into her little group of friends becoming skate junkies. Jessie also joined the Quidditch team first year, since they were in need of a seeker.
xxxHer second year was another whirlwind of activity, with her joining the Salem Post, the school's newspaper. The little group of skateboard junkies grew and became an unofficial club. This year she also managed to win one of the five games.
xxxDuring her third year, Jess was excited again to play Quidditch. She'd spent some time over the summer practicing and she was getting better at it. She had a breaking story that ran through the Post and even caught the attention of the local magical police. This year, she won three of the five games and placed her house third in the cup.
xxxOver the summer, tragedy struck the family when Si's girlfriend declined his marriage proposal and broke up with him. He insisted he was fine, but everyone could tell how deeply depressed he was. Jess didn't want to leave her brother, but school called. Back at school, Jessie once again joined the Quidditch team, but this time as Vice Captain. She was also thrust forward in the Post, now as a Junior Editor. She managed to win four of the five games, this time taking second place in the cup.
xxxWhen she turned home for summer, she learned that Simon had moved again, but this time out of the country! He'd moved all the way to Scotland. She also got to meet her first nibling, her brother Alvin's son George. Going back to school for her fifth year, she was promoted to Lead Reporter for the Post. She retained her rank of Vice Captain in Quidditch. This time, she won all five games and clinched first place in the cup. When her exams came up, she did her best, but still failed the three worst classes.
xxxMoving into sixth year, she began to date a boy from her class named Ethan Strait. He was one of her opposing seekers, representing Firefly house. Though the two were lovebirds, they were still rivals on the pitch. This year also saw Jessica take the Captain position. She led the team to their second back to back victory, despite only winning four of the five games that season.
xxxThe summer between sixth and seventh year, Ethan caught Jessica cheating on him with a boy named Tyler Beck. After an argument, he broke up with her, but she didn't mind. Jessica was wild and free and had four more boyfriends throughout the course of seventh year. She kept writing for the Post, as well as playing Quidditch. However, because she was focused on her studies, they only came in second that year, losing to Firefly house. Jess managed to pull all passing grades on her WITS exams.xxx𝒜𝒹𝓊𝓁𝓉𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxxxxxUpon graduation, Jess returned home to live with her parents for a little while. She applied to several papers in the area, both Muggle and Magical, trying to continue her work from the Post. But it seemed much harder to get a job doing actual reporting than it had been at school. Most of the offers she'd received had been editing and things like that, which she'd considered boring.
xxxJess bounced around several boring jobs, earning some money to keep herself afloat, but not enough to afford her own place. Finally it seemed like favor was turning towards her. A paper in the Midwest was offering her a job. She packed up some of her stuff and drove out to St Louis. When she submitted her first article though, the owner of the paper simply laughed at her and said she would just be editing, not writing. Jess got pissed off, because that was not the offer she'd received. In the ensuing argument, she punched him and was arrested. Thankfully though, he decided not to press charges and she was released.
