His father, of German descent, was an Auror in the Germany Ministry, while his mother, of French descent, was a Herbologist. He was raised for the first ten years of his life in Stuttgart, Germany and grew up a normal boy, though he shared his mother's love of Herbology. When it came time to discuss Sigmund's schooling, his mother wanted him to go to Beauxbatons, while his father insisted on Durmstrang. This was the proverbial straw on the camel's back that led to his parents' divorcing. Sigmund went to live with his mother in Strasbourg, France and enrolled in Beauxbatons.xxx𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈xxxxxxSigmund started school and was naturally sorted into Angelus, since Beauxbatons was sorted by gender, not personality. Immediately, he liked Herbology and the "softer" classes, struggling with the more magic heavy lessons. He joined the Herbology club in his first year as well.
xxxThroughout school, Sigmund wasn't the image of the popular kid, despite having lots of friends. He was a nerdy, bookish child who would rather spend time with plants than most people. His friends did adore him and he spent lots of time with them, but if you were outside his circle, you didn't exist to him.
xxxIn Sigmund's fourth year, his mother got really sick and the healers couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. She was referred to a Muggle doctor who determined that she had stomach cancer that had spread to her liver. Sigmund stayed in school at his mother's behest while she underwent treatment for the cancer.
xxxWhile his mother seemed to be getting better, Sigmund was still concerned and almost didn't return to school for his fifth year. But his mother ensured him she was fine and forced him to return to school. Midway through his fifth year, just after he returned from Christmas break, his mother passed away. It was discovered that the cancer had spread to her heart. Sigmund was heartbroken and left school for a couple weeks. His father came from Germany to help him settle his mother's estate and move him back to Germany.
xxxStarting his sixth year, his father insisted he transfer to Durmstrang to finish his schooling. Sigmund didn't want to leave everything he had though and refused. His father didn't like that and threatened to cut him off from financial assistance, but Sigmund had already started selling off potion ingredients he'd grown himself, so he was basically financially stable.
xxxWithout help from his father, Sigmund attended his final year of school and was selected as one of the two Head Students. Even that didn't make his father proud, but Sigmund didn't care. He focused on his schoolwork, head student duties, and his side business, which was growing pretty well. He attained decently good grades in the classes that mattered to him.xxx𝒜𝒹𝓊𝓁𝓉𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxxxxxAfter graduating, Sigmund moved out of his father's house and back to France. He wanted to become a traveling Herbologist and so that's what he did. Traveling through France, Sigmund studied lots of different plants, producing reports and articles on his studies. While near a strange wood in the south of France, Sigmund had his first meeting with a grove of wood nymphs. He'd learned much about them through his own research, but he'd never met any before. It was from them that he learned of a grove in Wales.
xxxAt the age of twenty three, Sigmund moved out of France and to the United Kingdom, living in the small village of Llangollen. This grove also managed to preserve the plants and trees around them all year long. Sigmund wanted to study the grove to see if their nymphic magic could be used to extend the lives of plants year long. Here he met a wood nymph named Peony. Unlike most other wood nymphs, she seemed curious about him and his studies.
xxxThe two worked together for almost a year, unknowingly falling in love in the process. When the grove discovered she was working with a human, they threatened to banish her. Sigmund asked her to marry him and travel with him. However, she said no, choosing the grove over him. Disheartened, he left, without knowing that he was also leaving his unborn child.
xxxSigmund was still fascinated by nymphic magic and wanted to study it more. He traveled to many places, such as Brazil, Nepal, Tibet, Italy, Russia... all seeking further leads on nymphic magic. He was searching for a possible grove hidden in the Siberian tundra when he received an owl that his father had been grievously wounded and might not survive the week. Using his portkey, he returned home to Germany to be by his father's side.
xxxHis father hadn't expected Sigmund to return home since he hadn't heard from him in almost twenty years, but he was pleasantly surprised when he did. Wilhelm told Sigmund he was proud of him and showed him the collection of his son's articles he had. Getting to see his son again seemed to be the only thing holding him to the world and a couple days later, he passed, leaving him the Bauer family house in Berlin. So that's where Sigmund settled down, putting a hold on his nymphic magic research.
xxxOnly a few short months after his father passed, there came a knock on the door. Sigmund opened it up to see none other than his long lost love, Peony, and a girl about thirteen years old. Turns out, that girl was his daughter, Clover, and they'd been banished from the Llangollen grove. Sigmund took the news pretty well and invited them to stay with him. Peony revealed she'd never forgotten about Sigmund and she still loved him, which was good because he still loved her. They married in Germany, then Sigmund set about plans to move to the UK.
xxxThey needed to live near a grove and the only other one in the UK was in the Forbidden Forest, plus living in a magical village would benefit all three of them. So Sigmund found them a house in Hogsmeade. Once they settled into the house, Clover made an impassioned plea for them to adopt her best friend, Anaís, who was living at the local orphanage. Sigmund, who had already become wrapped around his daughter's finger, agreed and they went to bring her home. She was raised amongst her many wood nymph siblings. Even at an early age, Peony was curious about humans. She often got in trouble with the elders for sneaking out of the grove to spy on them. Like all the other nymphs of the grove, she learned to develop her powers, practicing on the many plants that lived in her home. When she was a teen, she sneaked out of the grove and befriended a human boy. The elders found out when they caught him sneaking around the woods near to the grove. Peony was punished greatly and the boy was gently encouraged to stop coming near the woods ever again.xxx𝒜𝒹𝓊𝓁𝓉𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxxxxxEntering maturity, Peony's enthusiasm for meeting humans wasn't curbed and she continued to sneak out of the grove. She met a human wizard named Sigmund Bauer and fell in love with him. He was a herbologist studying the plant growth abilities of nymphs and had been studying the grove in Llangollen. Throughout the course of his studies, the two began a romance. When it was time for him to leave and return to Germany, he asked Peony to come with him and marry him. She refused, more out of fear of leaving the Grove than a lack of love for him. Sigmund left, but surprisingly to Peony, he left her a gift.
xxxThe gift was a daughter, born ten months after he left. Peony knew that her child was only half-nymph and she was scared that the elders might take action against her. However, they seemed to accept the child, whom Peony named Clover. She loved her child and raised her as a nymph, even though most of the Grove refused to acknowledge her. Everything seemed fine until Clover's eleventh birthday when a woman arrived with another wood nymph.
xxxAzalea was her name and she explained that Clover possessed wizarding blood and would be attending Hogwarts. The elders of her grove were not happy with the news, but allowed the girl to go. Peony was happy to see her daughter go, because it meant some part pf Sigmund was still with her. The summer before she left for school, Peony told her all about her father.
xxxThe constant intrusions of outsiders in the grove to cater to Clover's school needs finally caught up to Peony approaching the end of Clover's second year. The elders decided to cast Peony and Clover from the grove. Peony reached out to Nora Heulwin, who helped her get set up to travel to Germany to search for Sigmund. Working with the Germany Ministry of Magic, Peony was able to find him.
xxxWhen she picked up Clover from the station, Peony explained that they were going to find her father in Germany. They found him and Sigmund immediately accepted Clover as his daughter. The two of them stayed with him in Germany for a month until he was able to move to the UK. They got a house in Hogsmeade and Azalea helped Peony get connected with the Forbidden Forest grove. xxxℬ𝓲𝓸𝓰𝓻𝓪𝓹𝓱𝔂xxxxxx𝒞𝒽𝒾𝓁𝒹𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxxxxxClover's father was a German wizard and Herbologist named Sigmund Bauer and her mother was a wood nymph named Peony. Sigmund was studying plant growth near an enchanted grove in Llangolen when Peony introduced herself to him. They had a brief romance that led to Clover's conception, but Sigmund had to return to Germany. He asked Peony to join him but she refused to leave her grove. Clover was born a few months later. Her mother didn't tell her much about her father growing up because of the heart break from losing him. The girl was raised as all nymphs were and displayed an early talent for nymphic magic. During a particularly aggressive thunderstorm, the grove caught fire and Clover displayed her witch magic by controlling and putting out the fire. When her Hogwarts letter arrived, her mother finally broke down and told her about her father and gave her his surname as her own. xxx𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈xxxxxxEverything was so exciting for Clover. She experienced her first time around Muggles, then she got to experience the train and everything was just so much fun. When she arrived at Hogwarts, she was sorted into Hufflepuff. Clover joined a bunch of clubs including Drama, Music, and Herbology. She also discovered that her singing had somewhat of a hypnotic effect on people.
xxxOn her way to Hogwarts for her second year, Clover was introduced to Anaís Teixeira, another girl from her year. The governess was collecting them together and they wound up becoming good friends. Clover enjoyed all the classes, but excelled in Herbology thanks to her nymphic magic. During winter break, her mother seemed uneasy around the other nymphs and they didn't celebrate the solstice with them. In the spring, there was a dance and Clover asked her new best friend to go with her.
xxxArriving back in London after school, Clover was surprised to find her mother on the platform. Mum told her that they'd been banished from the grove which upset Clover, but her mum had another surprise for her. Peony had been working with the Ministry and Miss Heulwin and the two of them would be traveling to Germany to find Clover's father. It wasn't hard to locate him and he was immediately accepting of her and her mum. Clover spent most of the summer in Germany with her papa, and then he moved to the UK, buying them a house in Hogsmeade. While the family was settling in, Clover convinced her parents to adopt Anaís so that she didn't have to live at the orphanage anymore. The little family went to London and completed the paperwork to bring Anaís home. At school, she spent so much time with her sister as well as starting her electives. Her perceived lack of control also stops her from telling others of her fears most of the time and only doing so once her feelings are so out of control she’s nearly in the throes of an attack. PERCEPTIVE Anaís has a heightened awareness of her surroundings and can usually take notice of small patterns or even emotional changes around her. This way she can know who to avoid at certain times and who perhaps just needs a cookie or a hug. RESOURCEFUL Anaís knows how to make use of anything within reach to solve her problems, big or small. This also allows her a level of adaptability to her situations so rarely leaves something unfinished for long. NAIVE Never speaking to anyone outside her family for the first seven years of her life really made a mark on her levels of believability. Her brother made sure not to abuse it too often but she’s found everyone else doesn’t share those thoughts. Coupled with her anxious nature, she totters between believing and disbelieving what people tell her but usually ends up following along, sometimes to her detriment. IMAGINATIVE Having never gone to public school or even played with other children besides her brother allowed Anaís to have a very vivid imagination in order to keep from dying of boredom at times. Together with the random visions that sometimes appear to her, she likes to create elaborate stories or game plots to write or play out with toys or now the other children at Wool’s. These stories also can function as a way she can talk about what she’s feeling at a time so Anaís has taken to keeping notebooks with her at all times. CURIOUS Anaís loves learning about..everything. Before Wool’s, she read every child appropriate book at her house and had begun skimming Javier’s school books just to keep busy. Now, she’s constantly asking questions and checking out books in and out of school and usually has to be reminded to finish her homework or essay because she can easily be waylaid by other questions she’s come up with. ■ Killing someone elsexxxBACKSTORYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxEARLY CHILDHOOD Anaís was born in the union of a dwindling famous Portuguese magical line and a moderate Spanish one. Her family on her mother’s side had been plagued with low birth rates since her grandparents' time and by the time of her birth, there were only five people left to continue the Teixeira line. Desperate, her mother, Isabela, found and married a middle aged widower, Alejandro, who already had a young son named Javier. Truly they were a marriage of convenience as her father wanted a housewife to care for the home and children and her mother needed stability and, simply put, a sperm donor. Anaís came within their second year of marriage and her mother was thrilled. Isabela doted on her young daughter, never letting the babe leave her side or out of her sight. When she reached infancy, her mother began trying to initiate Anaís’ accidental magic much to her husband’s worry. She would leave the baby crying and hungry to see if she would summon food, lock her in rooms to see if she would unlock or apparate, even dropping her from a tree which gratefully her brother managed to catch her before she landed. Javier was furious with his stepmother and how she was treating his literal baby sister and more than tried bringing it up to his father. To his credit, Alejandro did attempt to talk to his wife about how dangerous the stunts she was pulling were and warned that if anything it might be actually hindering their daughter’s magic. That managed to get through and Isabela fortunately stopped actively placing their infant in danger. Over the next few years, Anaís was sheltered in their family home with only her mother and brother to keep company, not even allowed to play with any children she came across outside. While her mother had promised to no longer place her in active danger, she still employed dubious tasks to attempt to force the magic out of her. Luckily, she had Javier who when not out the house would spend time with her and play bodyguard to whatever scheme their mother might have. It was because of this that he was the only person Anaís felt comfortable telling about the things she sometimes saw-people’s faces in puddles of water she’d never met, flashes of places in between slow blinks, and other things of the sort. Her brother entertained all her stories not thinking much of them and definitely not telling either of their parents; their father due to uninterest and their mother for obvious reasons. Anaís home life however took a dramatic turn for the worse after her seventh birthday. Isabela, incapable of believing her daughter to be anything but magical and enraged over not yet seeing anything substantial, decided to once again attempt to scare the magic out her daughter. She did so by taking a large knife and brandishing it at the young girl, swiping and stabbing the air erratically and actually injuring the child a few times. Javier, upon returning home, sees this and in a rage charges their mother and begins grabbing for the knife. Still enraged, more so since in her mind the son was partially to blame for the failure, Isabela manages to get the upper hand and stabs Javier in the chest. Anaís runs outside to the neighbors to find help but unfortunately once they arrive it was too late and her brother died. Her mother was arrested and Alejandro, who was full of grief, guilt, and anger, decided to surrender his daughter to social services not wanting any reminder of the woman who stole what remained of his life. Anaís was originally going to be placed in a foster home but upon seeing the matron had a severe panic attack and could never be in the same room as them. When she was placed at Wool’s, she hid from nearly every adult woman who came into the home, still afraid and grieving the loss of her only protector. Over the years though, Anaís has slowly begun to emerge from her shell and actively engage with other children for the first time ever yet still fears that if she were to get too close someone else she cared for would be taken away. SCHOOL YEARS■ FIRST YEAR Anaís had been filled with bittersweet emotion from the moment she arrived at the castle remembering how excited Javier had been to start school. She'd had many sleepless nights where she would sit out on the astronomy tower pretending to join the Astronomy club so no one would look deeper and wonder if she even deserved to be at the school. However this was soon found out by her head of house who began "asking" her to join the peer counseling club which she did with hesitation. To date, Anaís hasn't really spoken up in the club, but she attends so it's something.
■ SECOND YEAR Anaís was becoming more comfortable around so many and even more astonishingly, she'd made a friend! A Best Friend even! Clover is happy and silly and she's constantly including her in everything and she makes even the mundane an adventure. She reminds her allot of Javi, it sort of stung at first but she later had the thought that maybe her brother had sent Clover towards as his own little blessing and it helped allot. Its been taking allot of thinking (and talks with her counselor) to understand that she could want nice things like that, but it was still a work in progress.
■ THIRD YEAR So much happened that Anaís doesn't even know where to start! During the summer, Clover came by the orphanage with her parents (which was a whole other story to tell, holy crow) and they adopted her! Just like that! She moved into a nice little house in hogsmeade and it feels like every day is a sleepover with her best friend! There's still growing pains in that she doesn't really know how to be part of a family again, especially after how her last one imploded but everyone is so nice and sweet that she honestly feels like she'll cry just thinking about it.
