Well actually it could be Marik or Malik, becuase in the Japanese language, 'r's and 'l's can be subsituted out for one another. So it's both Marik and Malik at the same time.
Or at least, that's what I was told... eek

Or at least, that's what I was told... eek Well, this isn't exactly a fact, but "Marik", according to some, was meant to be romanized as "Malik" because "Malik" is a common Egyptian((I think...)) name.
As for the 'R' and 'L' being able to be switched, you're close. There's no real kana for the letter 'L'. 'R''s sound like 'L''s. I'm learning Japanese, that's how I'm a bit familar with the kana.

Well, his actual Arabic name is Malik but with Japanese kana pronunciation it would be Mariku. I assume his dub name, Marik, is a combination of the two. Heh, I like Yami no Malik. He makes me laugh. sweatdrop

I say malik. I love it when Yami not malik's head fell off that was so great. I still hate Yami no Malik for sending Baku's body to the shadow realm... b*****d.
