That Age Thing...

So, does anyone ever forget that Usagi starts out at 14? I always do, I know she's clumsy and stuff but I still have issues realizing she's only an 8th grader to start out?? And by the end she’s only getting into high school! She just seems so mature for a 10th grader which I remember high school and 10th graders weren't mature at all!! Let alone 8th or 9th... But I'm 20, about Mamoru's age when he was in the 1st or 2nd season (it states in the manga that he's in collage, and I think he was born in 1973 if I remember reading compared to Usagi being born 197 cool but ya, I can't even imagine dating someone that young!! It's crazy, but like I said I don't really look at Usagi being 14-16 more 16-18 by the end.
For younger fans I think its easier to imagine plus identify but for fans that see Usagi as 'jail bate' what do you think?

Also keeping in mind that it is Japan: High School is a huge deal, you have to act like an adult there and be mature and hard working. If you don't do well in high school, you won't get a good job and you'll be the janitor, instead of the CEO. It's more important than college to the Japanese! That's why they spent all summer studying for the entrance exams.

Remember how poor Usagi got study books for her 15th birthday? That is actually a common ocurrance for kids with summer birthdays who will enter High School in August. That's right, I said August. Japan city schools usually start early and exit late.

Oh ya... I think some where some time I knew that. But I was just imagining myself thinking a 9th grader was cute and it freaked me out... But I remember when I took Japanese I learned most of that stuff cuz my teacher was a 'return missionary' who loved young girls... ya. Not so cool.

schools over in Japan are totally differnt then in the US...especially in Junior High/Middle School..you have hardly any time for extra activities...after school you go to cram school till the evening to study... to bad they didnt do the same thing here...maybe there would be less highschool drop outs

Ya, my best friend in high school (still my best friend, she's getting married on the 18th, go her!! I'm the best man... anyways...) She had a girl from Japan stay with them named Yuka, she was so much fun and she kept talking about how good/different our food was and what a breeze school was, but she had to get cracking when she was getting ready to go back home. It must've been a great 'year off' for her. She was SO sweet though heart

My friend Yuriko told me that in the Seventeen Magazines in Japan there were ads from older men in their fortys looking for girls to be like a suger daddy to. She told me that alot of high school girls would do things like that because their suger daddies were rich older men who gave them money.

so, apart from Setsuna, (who is as old as time itself) wouldn't ALL those Sailor Moon hentai pictures be considered kiddie porn sites since most of the pictures feature them as 16 or below? (which is still a legal kid, teenaged or not)

i know this is WAY off what Kawaki was talking about, i just wanna see some other opinions

forty year olds going out with fourteen year olds is kinda creepy. and if they had cram schools after school, there wouldn't be as many high school dropouts because kids wouldn't get to high school. american's are more about playing than studing, the long term effects don't really bother us until it's too late. some of the school systems are trying to start having school earlier and half days on saturdays, like the japanese so we'll be smarter, but if students don't want to learn, they wont, and they just wont show up to school on saturdays.

Like everyone has said in Japan everything is so much differnt then here,hell I got told I should be in Japan for my study habits and anyway in the manga I think Usagi was about 17-18 by the end and established Neo-Crystal Tokyo when she was 21 but in Japan it isn't as horroble for a 20 soewhat year old dating a 14-16 year old girl

Depends actually. Kiddie porn is REAL kids, as in pictures taken with a camera and a real child. To air in America, Hentais must state that everyone in them is over 18, but when you look at the outfits, they're in middle school uniforms and high school uniforms (occasionally, yes they ARE wearing university clothes, but mostly it's under age girls).

It's all technically "art", and can't be touched under most laws unless the feds get damn good lawyers. The text warning on hentai sites is just to keep feds out. You can't really tell the difference between a 15 year old and a 18 year old in anime anyway, there are 15 year olds with bigger breasts than the 18 year old in the same series.

So, yes, though it is immoral to draw sexy art of a girl most of the internet knows is only 15 years old, it's hard as hell to prosecute about because the artist can 9 times out of 10 say "Oh, this is their 18 year old self".

Theres one vital difference. There were no actual children involved in the making of the hentai. Thats why there are so many of those little kid hentai doujinshi on the net. Its drawings not real people.
