It's been a heck of a long time since I've posted anything here... so... this guild has gotten bigger O_O Can you critique on a pic I drew recently? I haven't had any useful feedback for AGES... Here's the link to the pic (note: a little shounen-ai): http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40356759/Like it, hate it, want to give some (useful) advice? Take a shot at it.

Lol is everyone dead around here?
Either that, or I'm on when no one else is on and everyone else is on when I'm not on...

Yes, I think they are dead.
The anatomy of the heads looks good, but maybe try using a different inking method, it looks slightly messy(but that may also just be me). Otherwise good picture.

Lol Rose, keep saving! Photoshop is so expensive, but it's worth it all in the end ^_^
Reason behind the messy lines is is that it's not inked (aka it's pencil).
Gives it a more soft effect.

The pic does look a bit on the messy side. I'm assuming it's supposed to have the crumpled-cute anime look? I'm not so sure about the anatomy of the brown-haired guy's head though...his cranium looks a little small..but it may be just his hair, too. The expressions are cute, you've established what I'm assuming was your goal in masculinity..so yes! Good overall job! Just make sure to sharpen up your images at times ^^.

Their necks look a bit too thick for anime. That's the only thing I see wrong so far.

Dude, anime heads are uber-skinny. This pic was supposed to capture the real anatomy of the (male) body. There is nothing wrong with being anatomically correct.
(sorry I get a bit pissed off about people saying I'm too 'realistic'. DOPE! Anime is SUPPOSED to be realistic on some level!)
Of course, I get where you're coming from, so I promise I won't be mad at you forever (though I am very very very very pissed off right now since I spent FOREVER trying to get the necks right as much as I could) I don't appreciate people who think anime has 'limits'.
Being realistic could still be anime-- it's just a different style. The same thing vice versa-- not anatomically correct drawings are just as acceptable as anatamocially correct ones as long as the anime is appealing to the eye.
That leads to a huge discussion question on 'what is anime' and 'what is still life' so I won't go into that, but, still, I have to say I'm pretty pissed off at people just being so mean to say that anatomically correct (or more anatomically correct-- I can't say my anatomy is perfect but I DO know it's better than some of those skinny things they call 'necks' out there) bodies are BAD and WRONG.
When did the world get like this? That's just so STUPID.
But, I guess...
No hard feelings.
lol
(this is directed towards Phishy Fish)
(sorry if you feel bad after my rant. It's just that I get really really really pissed off. I know you didn't mean anything by it and that I should be more accepting and liberal, but I'm so sorry! I feel guilty now sad . You were just giving constructive criticism)

I apologize.

I think the lineart itsself is good, BUT (argh...here we go again^^) I'll give you the advice not to colour and shade quite so delicately. I usually start with opacity and flow on 100 percent and add the rest later (still my shadows are too light^^). Otherwise it will look like overwatered watercolour or something. DeviantArt (I assume you're on dA) has many great tutorials about that smile

Lol this was a new style.
I actually color most of my stuff using 100 percent opacity, then with lighter opacity later on, but I wanted the picture to look fluffy ^_^. Of course, most people don't like fluffy, and that get's me kind of riled up sometimes, but ok. This was the first time I did something like this.
