Ive beaten the game (and am currently replaying it again.) I might be of some use.

Dunno if this still applies...

Go down the right stairs and do everything you can. Come back to the enterance and go down the left stairs. If you use the key to connect these two passages you will be one key short. Once you finish down there, climb the center stairs and finish the tower^^
