Half of them are drawn in a completely different manner. Which ones are your original work?
The first batch and some of the others happen to be copies of other works.
Your usage of markers and sharpies are great but...
Some of these show that you make a good copy machine. I can't help you unless I know which ones you actually draw yourself rather than taking other people's works, tracing or copying by hand and then coloring.
Um....they are all my original work. Done free-handedly, in pencil, then in ink. I still have all the originals. The first few are fanart--one I did for a for a Yoshitaka Abe contest at Animenation (the Rakka one), the Dragonball Z one I did (yes, free hand--but using reference pictures to make sure I had the style correct) in pigment ink, and the Final Fantasy one I did (free hand again), in art class using a few reference pictures. I never trace.
The three cat girls (first post) was done free hand WITHOUT using anything--no reference pictures, no nothing. That one is completely mine. The rest (in the following posts) are also completely mine--with the exception of the Vampire Hunter D one I did (which was done free handedly with a few reference pictures).
Which others are you talking about? The rest are my own--yes, the styles have changed over the years but these pictures I've done (and still have all of the hand-drawn originals) are all mine. I don't trace. I may use reference pictures at times (in the beginning mostly), but that is about it. Tell me which ones you believe are 'not mine' as you say. My collection which I've posted here spans a few years--my style has changed drastically over this time.
It seems like you misinterperated me and now see me as a troll.
When I said "COPY" I didn't mean "trace". I meant that you drew some of these freehanded while looking at the originals to make sure you got the exact angles and everything else correct. The only time I said "trace" was at the end, and that was as an example. For the majority I meant by copying the pages. Freehand, while looking at the reference.
In that first batch, the first picture with the catgirls was the exception; I noticed it drastically different than the FFVIII pic, or the Akira Toriyama comic page. With those, you mimicked the style so you could get everything right, and you did a splendid job in doing so.
(I
THOUGHT that was from Vampire Hunter D!)
When I said "Original", I meant by your artwork while in your style; which is what I saw in the catgirl picture as well as the others in which you posted after that.
I apologize for not being absolutely clear for this, and as well as my impudence.
Now on to the other pictures with my normal comments.
I'll be using that last batch as reference:
First off, the boy is vastly different from the rest of them. It looks like he's drawn in a mid to late 80s style rather with the others it's a cross between contemporary and classic shoujo. I can assume that this particular drawing is much much older than the rest of them in this batch because it's in the sketchbook.
Next, that guy (girl?) reminds me of Michael Jackson for some reason. =P
Once again, probably one of your older pieces, but definately newer than that picture of the little boy in overalls. One reason why I say this is because his (her?) face matches the the detailing in the clothing a whole lot better. =)
Now we get to your style now, starting off with your manga's cover~! =)
Looks like we got that typical shoujo thingy where you spend less time on the head and focus more detail on the clothing and the hair. You can see the individual strands in the girls hair that came unbounded by her braided pony tail. You put amazing emphisis on the hair's lining and it's flow and that's something that most cannot do. The one thing that bugs me is how far the jawbone actually goes back...
Okay, here's my favorite picture in the bunch! Hoo boy, love the colorings on that babe. Anyhoo, she kinda looks like she came out of that one American manga released by TokyoPop called "Fool's Gold". Keyword: KINDA. I never actually read it, so I have no idea how accurate I actually am. But I like her hair, and once again, that's your strongest point. You actually didn't need to make too many marks in order to actually get the detailed hair point across.
I take it that you looked at magazines and such in order to detail the clothing like that. Practicing on stuff like Seventeen Magazine and of the sort in order to get those right and everything. Am I correct, or am I mistaken?
I'd like to know what medium this is, brand, etc. Do tell because the colors have all been done masterfully! This may be just your style, but the arms look awfully lanky. It's probably just me because I bet you could draw bodybuilder types anytime you want. Of course that'll be once in a blue moon if anytime at all. =P
(Once again, sorry for the issue stated early on)
