INTRODUCTION: A Guide to Lyndria

Creatures

Lyndria's inhabitants are divided into these different groups: Shadowed, Enlightened, Human, and Legendary

Shadowed:
Of all of the creatures in Lyndria, the Shadowed Ones are the most deadly. They come in all shapes and sizes: Wraiths, Demons, Scamps, Vampires, Imps, Banshees, Orcs, Goblins, Hags, etc. They have no trace of a soul, whatsoever, and are the kind of monsters that would love nothing more than to tear you apart if they saw you, if only to make you realize their torment.

Enlightened: The Enlightened Ones are very peaceful creatures. They are the wisest and kindest of all of the inhabitants of Lyndria. Though they are very magically enhanced, hardly a soul may come across them. It would be a wonder for you to see one in your entire lifetime! As with all creatures, they can be dangerous, although, they are mainly benign, unless threatened. The Enlightened Ones have a smaller variety of creatures. Examples would be: Elves, Unicorns, Fairies, Angels, Phoenixes, Centaurs, Sphynxes, etc.

Human:
Humans may be either good or evil. It is all up to them. The Royal Queen Thena Angelleius and King Valecus Angelleius are, in fact, Humans. In 324IA, they began the War of Moons, which took place under the Three Moons, as they were perfectly aligned. The werewolves had pillaged village after village, attacking and killing innocents. Soon, the King and Queen sent the Royal Guard after them. After the werewolves had retreated to their clearing, the Royal Guard attacked, and killed the entire clan. It is the only war that lasted only one night. There are only a few types of human: Witch, Wizard, Knight, and Citizen.

Legendary: The Legendary Ones are not nearly as rare as the Enlightened. The Legendary Ones are the classification for all other creatures which are not human, yet have the same capacity for both good and evil. They are not Shadowed, nor Enlightened. They have the widest variety of creatures on the planet and come in more shapes and sizes than the other creatures. Dragons, Hobbits, Giants, Werewolves, Minotaurs, Merpeople, Nymphs, Golems, Gnomes, Ogres, etc.

[This world and my characters are based on my novel-in-progress, inspired by God].

Roleplay Instructions

When you've created your character, please post it in the Characters thread.

• Character layout:

Username:
Name:
Age:
Description (Appearance/Abilities):
Personality:
Past (Optional):
Creature Type (Legendary, Human, Shadowed, or Enlightened):
Which Terrain you will be RPing in (Lyndria, Black Woode, Arid Wastes, Bulen, etc):

{If you wish to RP in all of Lyndria, rather than simply one Terrain, write "Lyndria" as the Terrain in which you would like to RP.}

Afterward, I will place your character's description on the list for all to see, and you may start RPing whenever you like!

REMEMBER: You can be ANY creature, whether you created it yourself or received the idea from something else! (ex. Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Final Fantasy, the Legend of Zelda, Elder Scrolls, World of Warcraft, etc).

NOTE: Characters MUST HAVE WEAKNESSES. Because of some trouble we've had in the past, you must now list immunity and immunities are limited to two per character.

Other than that, just follow the rules listed below.

RULES

1. Participation required - Please, post at least once a week so that we know you wish to remain a part of Lyndria. If you need a vacation, be sure to let us know! You're an important member of this team!

• Please, read through the plot of each RP which you are hoping to become part of to ensure that you know where everyone is and what they are doing before joining. This shall prevent much confusion and frustration for both you and the other RPers involved. Information on the plotline(s) of each RP in the Guild is written in the RP Guide which is updated frequently.

2. Everyone starts out with 5 RESURRECTION POTIONS to respawn. You DO NOT have to pay ANY actual amount of gold for potions. Just make sure that when your character dies, it allows for 1/3 of its "coins" to be taken. Allies may use Resurrection Potions on a fallen character. But if no one is around to heal the fallen character, one of its Resurrection Potions will be automatically deducted from its inventory.

• All characters in the Western Province shall respawn at Opalescent City, at the time of their death.

• In the Eastern Province, Xyon is the respawning point.

• Some creatures can make potions. (Ex. Humans, Elves, etc).

• If a character dies in solitude, and does not have a Resurrection Potion in his/her inventory, that character will eventually be too far gone to resurrect with the use of a Resurrection Potion, and will have to be resurrected by some other means, if at all.

3. Be Chivalrous! That means:

• No sexual content, please. Romance is perfectly fine, but please don't let it get out of control, even if it's merely IC (In Character).

• Cursing IS NOT ALLOWED. If you or your character must curse, please let it be general and not directed at anyone, unless it is strictly a part of your character's dialogue.

• Be friendly and welcoming to other RPers, and their characters, unless it follows the storyline or your character's personality to do otherwise.

• No flaming. Any inappropriate posts will be taken care of. No need to worry.

• This is not really a rule, but more of a request: PLEASE, remember to PM me if you are not going to be posting in the Guild for an extended period of time!

• Please, do not RP with more than three or four Characters per RP. We request that you limit your number of Characters due to the fact that if you were to leave an RP for an extended period of time, so many Characters interacting with so many others will almost certainly cause the RP to come to a standstill.

• We urge you to send in a Character Profile for each character that you create for added convenience and courtesy toward other members of the RP(s) in which you are participating.

Please, do not ignore another character within the RP if at all possible. Though we consider this a form of Godmoding when done on purpose, we also realize that it may occur by accident and would like to put more stress on this all-too-common occurrence in the hopes that it may be prevented.

4. Please, no God-moding! Remember, every race has its weakness. Even if you made it up yourself, you MUST have a weakness. I cannot stress this enough. In fact, due to a request made in the Lyndria Interactive! thread, I have decided to post examples of what qualifies as Godmoding so as to prevent any confusion on the matter. (And I made them smaller to decrease eye strain! ..Sorta).

Examples of Godmoding:

- Obliviousness - Ignoring the actions of another character/other characters in the RP that affect either your character or your character's immediate surroundings.

- Auto-hitting - In other words, writing the success of an action or attack without the consent of the RPer whose character it affects. It is up to the RPer whether an attack is to hit or miss their character.
• No Character can kill off another character without an agreement between the RPers whose characters are involved with said death.

- Plot Steering - Taking the reigns of an entire RP, even if it is merely a Starter RP, is viewed by other RPers as being very inconsiderate. The plot should unfold neatly if it is created with contributions from ALL members of the RP. Certainly a plot twist may be added unexpectedly, as long as it respects all members of the RP in that it does not impede their ability to join in the action.

- Invincibility - You are allowed to have your character dodge attacks directed toward it, but please, do not do this unrealistically. If an attack seems unavoidable, merely take the hit, if it seems fair to do so.

• EVEN GHOSTS/WRAITHS CAN BE HARMED/KILLED! Remember that! In most cases, they cannot be affected by physical means, but they may certainly be harmed, or even killed, by magic!

Abilities can be invincible as well! Please, do not create abilities for your character that have no consequences or drawbacks. (Such as everlasting shields). If nothing else, an ability should be a bit draining to use, or should be limited to only being available a couple of times every 24 hours.

5. PLEASE, try your best to be grammatically correct. This means:

• Use at LEAST two complete sentences. (And remember that a complete sentence includes a subject and a verb).

• Do not use asterisks "*" or any other kind of symbol to show that you are RPing. Just use quotes: "" when your character speaks.

• Please, keep all Out Of Character conversation in brackets"[]" or parentheses "()".

6. Please, refrain from creating threads in the forums which are not associated with RPs in any way. (i.e. Creating a thread simply to get information or socialize). You may PM any of the Moderators for any information that you may need, or post your question in the form of a thread within the Introduce Yourself! forum. We check this forum frequently and are more than happy to help.

Forums and Terrains

Forums:

Introduce Yourself! - This forum is entirely dedicated to new users who are looking to introduce themselves and ask questions concerning the Guild. It is identical to Gaia's Welcome forum in that, should you wish to receive warm welcomes from other members and perhaps make some new friends, you simply need to post a thread! Also, if you have any questions at all, the Welcome forum doubles as our Q&A, so if you need answers, you simply need to post a thread entitled with your question and a Mod will be happy to help you A.S.A.P.!

The Lyndrian Academy - Would you like to learn more about your surroundings by experience? Well then, the Academy is perfect for you! Unlike most classrooms, whether or not you passed that test your teacher handed you last week will be the least of your worries. However, if you enjoy the normal classroom environment, there are also more conventional classes within the Academy which give hand outs, homework, tests, etc. Yet, if you'd rather be the teacher than the student, that's perfectly acceptable as we're always looking for new teachers to challenge the minds of young Lyndrians.

The OoC - The OoC is a place where Guildmembers can hangout, well.. OoC! Ever get tired of the grammatical issues and fast-paced RPs? Well, before Demonix13's helpful suggestion, you would have had to go to The Hearth of Lyndria - Pub and Inn to get some R&R. But now, there's a whole forum where you can say and do whatever you want! If you're a CBer, that's totally fine! Feel free to start random bumping threads or polls for no apparent reason.
Or if you prefer the hardcore debates of the GD, go ahead and create one for yourself! Whatever you want to do, you can, in The OoC! Just make sure to keep it clean!

Casual RPer - The Casual RPer is a place where Members can RP without all of the rules and regulations looming over them.

Classifieds - Lyndria is an ever-developing, ever-expanding world and we need as many workers as we can get to assist us! The Classifieds is a forum in which Moderators will post ads for much-needed positions within the Guild. Anyone can apply for these positions, but keep in mind that you must be perfectly qualified for the position as well as trustworthy, as many, if not all, of the positions require the worker to become Moderator and we must know that we can trust you with that responsibility.

Lyndria Interactive! - Do you have a particular comment that you would like to make on how the Guild is run? Or perhaps you have a suggestion that you would like to make on something that the Guild is missing or needs to improve. Well, feel free to write it here! We're always happy to hear from our Members and we want to make sure that we're making you happy at all times!

Mod Meetings - A Mod-only forum dedicated to important meetings concerning the Guild. Within this forum, Moderators will discuss important matters, and at times, those matters will involve special Guild events, RP conduct, even misconduct within the Guild.

Useful Threads:

RP Guide - The RP Guide is a useful thread that allows Guildmembers to read through the current plot of each and every RP in the Guild! This is especially nifty if you're new to the Guild and would like to know how to introduce your character to an RP that appeals to you, or if you've been away for a while and would like to know where everyone is in your RP(s). The RP Guide is constantly updated as the RPs of the Guild progress, so you can be sure that you will always get the information that you need, as soon as you need it!

Starter RPs - Starter RPs are Roleplays which Mods have created in order to give RPers a plot to work with. This way, RPers won't have to shy away from the Terrain of their choice should they not wish to create one for themselves.

Ally Threads and Guilds - This is a thread where we advertise threads and Guilds that are, in some ways, very similar to Lyndria. Or, if you have a favorite hangout outside of Lyndria that you would like to advertise, just send me the link and I'll post it here! Afterall, there are plenty of incredible magical worlds out there to explore! Why should Lyndria be the only one that you see?

Terrains: The Black Woode, The Arid Wastes, Dragonlands, Opalescent City, etc.

Terrains are places where the young adventurer can RP without worrying about moving from place to place. For example, if a young nymph decides she would rather hang around her forest friends, she could do just that in the Black Woode!
(Remember to tell me the Terrain to which you would like for your character to be added upon joining the Guild, otherwise, I won't know where to add you)!

For more information on each of the many Terrains:Terrain]http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewforum.php?f=891071]Terrain Info
