---Chinese/Asian Superstition-----

Just curious to see what other asian superstitions are out there. Here are some that my parents and perhaps I too believe. Have fun!

1) A pimple right on the tip of your nose is bad luck
2) Owning or living in front or near a cemetery is bad luck

I know i have more, but I can't seem to find them right now

i believe in only some superstitions...some superstitions i heard of before from my mom are:

1. If your beloved family or relative dies and the coffin...well something happens to the coffin but i don't remember what...maybe if it's head is tilting too low or something than a relative of that person will have bad luck and pass away too sweatdrop Kinda freaky...and that did happen to my family...my grandma passed away and then when they placed it into the burial place something happened and then a few months later my great-uncle died of lung cancer... crying But then again it could be just the cancer's problem though.

2. Don't get a house with the number 13 or you'll have bad luck in that household.

and that's about it i remember right now... xd

I don't really believe in superstitions.
I remember my mum telling me things like 'the number four is bad luck cause it sounds like die in chinese, so don't get a house with the number 4 in it'
And 'the number 8 is lucky, and if you get your house number to be 88 or 888 then you will have super good luck.'

Twitching of the eye. Left eye twitch = good for boys; bad for girls and if Right eye twitch = bad for boys; good for girls.

If I got the order wrong please let me know haha because I always get confused between which is good and which is bad and for who. sweatdrop

dont tread on otha ppls gravestones...they'll haunt u at night eek

dont lean on ur hand while eating dinner becoz.... it means ur parents will be made to work harder??? confused sumthin like dat

i think "don't walk under a ladder" isn't a chinese superstition..but maybe a western one?

My parents say a lot of superstiotions to me o.O;;

1 - 4 , 6, 9 is a bad word in cantonese.

2 - Tis bad luck to play around with brooms, cos brooms have spirits in them

3 - Tis also bad luck to play around with the mirror - shining it

4- When having periods do not sit on tables, your brother's bed etc. Or it'll make the thing you sat on very unholy

5 - Don't play any woodwind instrument at night, or spirits will come to your house

6 - Eat every grain of rice/piece of food in your bowl or the person you marry in future would be ugly

7 - Do not open lei xi in front of the person that just given you the lei xi

I could go on and on with all these superstitions that I hardly follow =]

Oh. I have lots.

Tosh has a shaking problem. xD My leg is always shaking. So I always get this one. Girls shouldn't shake or they'll shake away their money.

And if you leave rice in the bowl, you'll get freckles.

And something about the way you hold the chopstick. If it's close to the bottom, you'll stay at home. If it's far, you'll move away.

And there's this day.. Where you are supposed to visit the deceased. And if you don't their spirits will haunt you. :/

Also, kids can see things adults can't see. (Which was like in that movie, the Messenger.... .______.)

i dont believe in superstitions at all.

I'll take my chances with anything. and i think 13 is a lucky number and yeaaa.

Let's seee...

* broking a miror means something really bad might happen to u, mostly a close family member will die soon.

* having the bed in front of a miror attracts ghosts

* "164" gives you bad luck all the way (so not true because I use to take that number of bus every day to go to school before)

the number 4 in cantonese is death
sweep from the back of the house to the front (sweep the evil out)
