1. my ear was always swollen because of it.
2. my piercer told me to get smaller jewelry so the hole would heal a 'perfect' hole and lighter, thinner jewelry would indeed make the swelling go away (it was bleeding, too).
As you can see, they aren't the same color. I was hoping I could silver or black ones, but they didn't have any, though they told me I could go get news ones whenever they arrived (they will call me). As for now, this is what it looks like:
