::Resident Evil Theories::
As we experience the series with each sequel, we find out more and more about Resident Evil's dark and secretive universe.
Just the same, more and more questions arise from this series. Some, we will never know the answers to.
However, it's entirely possible for us to find our own truth about these unknown details regarding Resident Evil.
Your job is to: Either post your own theories, or ask questions that you would like to know that haven't been answered yet.

-What Is NYX?
Below is the list of theories that came from the dead, "Resident Evil Network" website.
The names of the people who came up with theories have been omitted because I really don't care that much for them.
Also, I omitted the theories that either been disproven or are just plain stupid.

-Who is Hunk?
Quote:
-"My theory is that Hunk is a well-trained and very talented man. I don't see any reason to believe he's anything other then human. A nickname is a nickname, the fact he's sometimes called 'Mr. Death' doesn't mean much, except that Hunk probably lacks a conscious (sp?) and doesn't have any moral problem with killing people. As for how he's survived so much, I'd say he's very lucky and very talented; maybe he takes steroids or some other drugs for extra strength and stamina. Although, I must admit he's probably put a lot of hours in at the gym, after all, snapping necks like that would take a lot of power."

-Who was the "government agent" that confronted Leon in Leon's RE3 epilogue?
Quote:
-"Maybe it was Krauser. I say this for the following three reasons.
1) He is the only named person from Leon's organization.
2) He and Leon have some clouded friendship maybe they became friends after Jack recruited Leon?
3) It kind of looks like him."

-What happened to the rats that were infected in Raccoon City?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"Certain viruses affect some species while not others. This may have been the case for the rats. Claire/Ada said that the rats were the 'carriers' of the virus. That means that they carried the virus, but were not necessarily affected by it. Like mosquitoes spread viruses that will never kill them. I believe that the sewer rats were infected, but not affected; somehow they spread their own virus. For example, in Outbreak, you see the Umbrella agent being eaten by a bunch of rats. Then, the virus spread to other species and infected the entire city. It could have happened through many generations like a bug biting the rat, and then biting a human, etc. This may also explain why you never see any zombie cats."

-What has happened to Rebecca Chambers after the REmake?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"The following is an EX-File from N64 version of RE2:
"#File 09/16
Rebecca's Report
On July 23rd, an MP vehicle was found inside the Arklay
Mountains. Corpses of MP members and an unidentified body
were found near the vehicle.
According to the information from military authorities, the
unidentified body was identified as former ensign Billy
Koen, who was sentenced the death penalty following a
court-martial on July 22nd. While Koen was on transfer via
Navy MP escort, they must have experienced some kind of
accident.
The corpses were severely mauled, apparently torn apart by
unidentified wild animals.
The following day we returned to the location to recover the
bodies but they were nowhere to be found.
Military authorities have requested that we turn over Koen's
body as proof of his death. But due to the circumstances
described above, it will be a difficult task to recover the
corpse.
I am requesting that this case be temporarily closed until
further notice.

Rebecca Chambers"
This file supports some of the events in RE0, it also contradicts some, like Rebecca never mentions meeting Coen, but she might not be telling the whole truth to protect Billy. In any case, this file is found on Rebecca's desk in RE2 for N64. And although I cannot say what happened to her, this file confirms that she made it back alive. Although Rebecca has no epilogue in RE3, it's not a theory more like some additional information for those who never played N64 version of RE2."

-What is the name of the company that Albert Wesker was with in CODE: Veronica?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"Here is my theory, I couldn't believe how well together it all came. Okay, so I've been wondering for a long while what is Wesker's new company... What does HCF stand for? Well I'll tell you. This is only a theory because I didn't get this information from Capcom. Anyway, I was watching some old movie with Denzel washington and someone else had HCF painted on his back, that really intrigued me, but the movie had nothing to do with my conclusion. I searched HCF on Google and found a website that stunned me. It was so obvious and I didn't see it. Okay, so Wesker went to work in another company, supposedly rivals to Umbrella, that made me think... It must also be a pharmaceutical company, it must have a respectable face, it must be famous... It is... Here is the answer to my theory: HCF stand for... Health Care Foundation... It really does exist and it really does use the initials HCF. My theory is that Health Care Foundation pretends to be good, while doing bio-organic weapon research of its own. And Wesker had went into the arms of that company with whom he is working in Code Veronica."

-Unofficial sources say it to be Host/Hive Capture Force. However, that has never been confirmed by Capcom.

-What story does the REmake follow... as playing from Jill's or as playing from Chris' perspective?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"I was disappointed to find out that Capcom remade the game from 2 perspectives as it was, instead of creating one big storyline the way it was meant to be. I think that the story intertwines the two perspectives into itself, with certain events happening to certain characters, much like the RE1 book or as Wesker's Report stated. In RE2 we find a file that clearly states that Jill, Chris, Barry AND Rebecca all survived the incident, so it's obvious that somehow the story intertwines, but it really doesn't matter how or which parts, because it's pretty obvious for certain parts, for example: Rebecca is the Chemical Genius, so if anyone created V-Jolt it probably wasn't Jill. That would probably mean that Chris was the one who fought the plant.
Jill however, was probably the one talking to Wesker in the hall, where Wesker raised Suspicion about Barry. Same with the caves: It was probably Jill who went there and then Barry got her stranded with Lisa Trevor.
I'm not gonna list them all, but I do believe that the two stories intertwine with certain things happening to either Chris or Jill."

-Where is Raccoon City located?
Quote:
-"I believe Raccoon City is located in the state of Colorado. Capcom has clearly stated that Raccoon City was a "Mid-western city," but the Mid-West covers a large area. I believe that the Arklay Mountains is an extension off the Rocky Mountains, which means that Raccoon City is probably located in Eastern Colorado. The Resident Evil books state that Raccoon City is located in Pennsylvania. However, the books can be discounted because they simply are not the official word of Capcom. Raccoon City appears to be located in the middle of nowhere. To my knowledge, Colorado isn't full of vast cities that stretch all across it's landscape. So, that is why I think Raccoon City is located in that state."
Quote:
-"Raccoon City is near the Arklay mountains, a name which is similar to the fictional town of Arkham, which could be a reference to H.P. Lovecraft (who not only created Arkhambut also wrote the "Herbert West: Re-Animator" stories, as well as dozens of other great horror stories, so a reference to him wouldn't be that out of place) So, since Arkham is placed in Massachusetts, and if Arklay is really based on Arkham, Raccoon City could very well be in MA."

-Where is Rockfort Island located?
Quote:
-"In first playing Resident Evil Code: Veronica, I figured that Rockfort Island could be anywhere in the world. However, upon further thought and theory-making, one can determine a few things. For starters, the obvious explanation is the fact that it is an island, so it obviously can't be located anywhere on a large land mass. Judging by the opening video, the island appears to be only a few square miles at the most. This island must be located near some larger body of land, however, because Claire is seen being transported by helicopter to the island. Of course, the helicopters could have taken off from an Aircraft Carrier, but I see this as unlikely.
The main point, though, involves Chris. He had to be somewhere close to the island, because he got there to rescue Claire in about a days time. This means that he was probably on or near the same land body that the helicopters took off from. After exploring the island, he left and traveled to Antarctica by jet. This basically eliminates anything north of the Equator. How could he travel to Antarctica, then travel away from Antarctica, and still have enough fuel in the jet? Looking at a world map, I've determined that the island is probably located at the southern portion of South America, probably on an island off the coast of Chile."

-Why are doors in the R.P.D. boarded up in Resident Evil 3, but not in Resident Evil 2?
Quote:
-"Now, from REmake, we know that zombies are capable of opening doors. So is there any reason to believe that the shambling ones couldn't have pulled down the barricades too? Granted, one zombie alone couldn't do it, and no zombie would do it on a whim. My guess is that several zombies smelt new flesh from beyond the barricades, and this provoked them to action, as the quickest way to a zombie's brain - or what's left of it - is through its stomach. Maybe it was Marvin Branagh they sensed, maybe Sherry Birkin; heck, possibly even William. If he was still in Type-1 configuration, he'd still look a fair bit human, and maybe smell similar to boot."
Quote:
-"I think Raccoon City police chief Brian Irons had something to do with the barricades. The regular police officers were probably the ones who boarded the doors up. Afterwards, they were probably killed or escaping (as Operation Report 2 suggests) through the sewers at around the same time Jill was coming into the R.P.D. building in Resident Evil 3. After Jill is far away from the R.P.D. building, Claire and Leon start their adventure in it. Between the time that Jill left, and the time that Leon and Claire entered, I think Irons went looking for people to kill. It is evident, through his journal, that he wanted nobody to escape the disaster. He was going insane. I think he scrambled through the R.P.D. building, tearing down all the barricades he could find so he could look for survivors to kill."
Quote:
-"I believe the Resident Evil Outbreak and RE2 happen around the same time and RE3 is may a day or 4-5 hours before either commence,
because both go to the Police Station. It’s bordered up in RE3 but not in RE2. I believe that the only remaining cop may have boarded it up or removed the borders. RE3 he is presumed dead but a just could be out cold and covered in blood."

-Why was the first floor R.P.D. window not broken in Resident Evil 2, even though Nemesis crashed through it in Resident Evil 3?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"Compare the scene in RE2 and RE3... In RE3, you see the shiny window get broken. In RE2, you don't see any shine in the window at all. You don't see any window frames or anything. This could mean that the glass is gone, someone could have cleaned it up by the time Leon and Claire got there. And if you check it, it says "It's too dark to see anything ourside" but doesn't mention anything about the glass being there, so who says that it IS there? Jill's even happened during the day of the 28th, and RE2 happened on the 29th sometime during the night. Thet means that it there was at least good 8 to 36 hours fomr soneone to come there and clean it up. The proof of the date in RE2 is on the blackboard where you find Marvin Brangah, it says "September 29th, it's today's date."

-Why were there Zombies and monsters in Raccoon City long before William Birkin broke the virus samples?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"When Chris talks about the reports of people being eaten, in the RE1 intro of the Remake, you can see photos of them in their homes, or other indoor places. That means that some of the zombies had wandered away from the mansion. And since the explosion of the mansion didn't burn down the entire Raccoon forest, some of those zombies had to remain alive. For example, the MPs that S.T.A.R.S. presumed that Billy killed. I believe that those zombies showed up in Raccoon City after the Mansion incident, the spreading of the virus by the rats only made the entire contamination significantly faster."
Quote:
-Why are there Crimson Heads in the Resident Evil Remake, but not in Resident Evil 0?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"Okay, the accident in the lab happened on May 11th... And the S.T.A.R.S. started to investigate a month and a half later, on July 23 and 24th... Now, it takes time for Zombies to become CH's, so maybe the Zombies in RE0 didn't have that kind of time, since the train was infected only an hour before S.T.A.R.S. got there. But when they got to the mansion, which was infected for a LONG time now, the zombies were probably on the verge of mutating into Crimson Heads."

-Why did Alfred Ashford have split-personality disorder?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"Some may think it's a simple mental condition but I think here is a lot more to it. Alexia was cryogenically frozen, so she wouldn't be able to take care of the island labs and all that. So she took over her brother's mind time to time in order to keep tabs on everything.
Maybe it wasn't even him inside that head half the time, that's why he was so confused when he saw himself in the mirror.
Here's my proof:
Alexia was injected with T-Veronica Virus, which enhanced her mental capacity as we have seen.
Not only that, but she has incredible brain to begin with, she was nothing short of a genius we find that out in some newspaper clippings as one of the files.
Some people say that various twins are telepathically linked to each other.
Put all those things together, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Alexia took Alfred's mind over time to time.
Also it really seemed like he would obey her at any cost, which made me think that like the anthill that we saw, Alexia's mind was also influencing him like a queen ant would influence her soldier ants or something. Because half the time he seemed to be Alexia and the other half the time he seemed to be confused like he had barely any control over what he was doing. However, it may have been purely a symbolic metaphor."

Quote:
-"Here's my take on his split personality disorder. It's obvious he thinks of himself as Alexia's servant, and has a great desire to serve her, so maybe this desire was so great, his mind created this alternate personality in her image so he could at least think he was fulfilling his 'duty' to Alexia. Also he probably devolved the personality subconsciously and that's why he was all freaked out when he saw himself in the mirror."

-Why are there Lickers in Resident Evil 2, but not in Resident Evil 3?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"As proven by Resident Evil Survivor, Lickers are zombies that have been exposed to critical amounts of T-Virus and therefore mutated further.
During the mansion incident, the furthest zombie mutation you see is a Crimson Head, and those are the zombies that have been there for at least a month.
Therefore in order for a zombie to turn into a licker it would require a lot of time and/or T-Virus. Which makes Lickers a semi-rare creature during the Raccoon City outbreak.
Now you see a lot of them in the labs, which is understandable considering those are probably the scientists that have been exposed to critical amounts of RAW T-Virus. But in the police station there are perhaps 5 Lickers at most in RE2.
Therefore, it's not surprising at all if Jill/Carlos just happened to not encounter any during their Raccoon City experience."

-When does William Birkin massacre Hunk's team and crush the Virus samples?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"Now I have not pinpointed the date when it happened, but I narrowed it down to seven possible days, I really had to snoop around reading all the dates on files and diaries carefully:
"Sewer Manager Diary
August 21st
... ...William informed me that the police have begun their investigation on Umbrella's affairs."
This isn't as important, but it indicates that it was AFTER August 21st.
"Film A
Code G Human Body Experiment 9/15 15:24"
I don't know who took a juicy picture like that, but that means that they were experimenting with G at the time and William was still okay on September 15th.
"Chief's Diary
September 23rd
It's all over. Those imbeciles from Umbrella have finally done it... ... Soon the streets will be infested with zombies."
That means that the virus spilled not too long before this. Which narrows it down to a one week span of when it could have happened:
Wednesday September 16 although not too probable because the Film looks like the research wasn't completely finished yet, to Tuesday September 22nd, more probable because I'm sure that Chief Irons would have been informed immediately of such an event, but still sketchy. Here's my theory: It probably happened in between meaning on Saturday, September 19th, but that's only a rough estimate."

-How does the helicopter, at the end of Resident Evil 3, not crash after the city is destroyed?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"I know the purpose of the 'Theories' section is to theorize explanations for Capcom's own error. However... Capcom fixes its own errors too. Suppose they never launched a hydrogen bomb... In the end of Outbreak, where you see the city being bombarded, you see at least three missiles, and the craters show a sign of a fourth. Therefore, perhaps they didn't want there to be radiation in the Raccoon area and have launched some missiles that did not produce an EMP, and therefore would not shut down any planes or copters. Another proof of this is the epilogue where you see something like an observation tower being built right on ground zero. If they launched a hydrogen bomb, and spread radiation, the area would not be able to sustain life; therefore the area cannot contain radiation. That proves that the missiles launched were not hydrogen missiles and did not produce a shockwave or an EMP. We don't see any shockwaves in Outbreak either."
Quote:
-"I'd assume that the chopper didn't crash because the nuclear warhead was detonated at ground level (i.e. on impact with Raccoon). You might have seen the movie, "Broken Arrow", where a similar detonation occurs (underground), forcing the Nuclear Emergency Search Team (NEST) chopper down due to an EMP shockwave. However entertaining this was, it was utter crap; EMP is only reliably caused by airbursting nuclear munitions, allowing charged particles dispersed from the explosion to discharge in the atmosphere (there are some EMP "generators" out there, but that's another debate), so, had the nuke headed for Raccoon airbursted instead, it would practically be a foregone conclusion that the chopper would have suffered massive electrical failures and crashed. As it stands, however, there was no EMP, so, provided they were at a distance for the chopper to withstand heat and avoid any thrown debris, I think it'd be quite possible to survive."
Quote:
-"The chopper didn't crash because maybe it’s developed with a special manufactured control panel; also know as "A.I.S." "ANTI INTERFERENCE SYSTEM.” This system is protected from the external menaces... including the EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse, also known as PPM).
If it doesn’t have A.I.S., the EMP would destroy the choppers electronic panel and make it crash. It doesn't matter where it was detonated, the EMP is an Electro Magnetic specter, and so, it can destroy any Electronic system at a great radius."

-How did Enrico die if he got shot in a bulletproof vest?
Biohazard EXTREME
-"Who said Enrico's vest was bulletproof? The STARS are obviously wearing tactical vests that are somehow padded. But a lot of those vests are not bullet proof at all. Some tactical vests are filled with nothing but foam. Enrico's vest was probably nothing but that.
However, Rebecca's vest was OBVIOUSLY NOT a tactical vest. It was thinner than most and had a different shape to it. A Flak Jacket is what it was! Now, flak is bullet proof and that's how Rebecca survived Wesker's shot. (If that event happened at all, which I don't think it did.)
But my theory remains, the Standard STARS vest is not bullet proof."
