Sorry For Your Pain

I know I told you that I wouldn’t.
You knew that these words
Were lies.
I’m sorry.
But the feeling is back
I can’t resist it.
The rush of pain and blood
Courses through me
The crimson stain runs like a river.
Beautiful.
And I feel better.
I’m sorry that I let you down.
Again.
I promise I won’t.
But we know it’s a lie.
Because of my failure
You’re gone.
And now I lie here.
Thinking of you.
Of what we were.
And the feeling is back.
This is what I’ve made myself.
A monster of my own dreams.
My living nightmare.
Why don’t you answer my anguished cries?
They fall on deaf ears,
And your words, on silent lips.
Please come back.
But you are truly gone from me.
This time forever.
And though I’m sorry
The finale has come.
My last regret
Will at last come to and end.
I kept my promise.
But a sacrifice must be made.
The poison chokes me.
The vial falls
and shatters.
I hear you come running,
And I smile.
Because you really do care.
You ask me if I’m okay.
I am now.
You’re here with me.
But it is too late.
I’ve made my choice.
Too far gone to come back.
Life fades.
And the last thing I see
Is your beautiful face.
Your eyes clouded from concern.
It pains me to see you
So sad.
All because of me.
I’m sorry.
Don’t worry.
I’ll see you again someday.
I’ll never worry you again.
But tears run down your face.
Why?
But now I understand.
You don’t want to see me go.
Too late.
I am no more.
And my eyes close forever.
I’m sorry…

Sounds like a soliloquy, a little less poetry jam and a little more community theater.

It's alright, I guess. If it were rhythmic, it'd be a better poem.
