have you noticed that it is "cool" among the kids to pick on the emos? I was thinking that its pretty strange because as soon as one kid says something they all do it. and i dont mean just some but ALL!!!

Will emos always be outcasts of society, or is that part of the reason why we are who we are? What even started it all anyway? I mean, who decided that emo was such a bad thing in the first place?

It's so hated because it's become a one-word excuse to be moody and depressive. It seems from the outside to be an escapism tactic, and no human worth their salt would choose such an obvious method of pidgeonholing their feelings.

It's just plain annoying when someone acts mopey and gives excuses for it.

You ever seen those people in the Chatterbox threads that just say "*sits in a dark corner*"? Do you know how many people per hangout thread sit in dark corners, when a reasonable square room has only 4 available?

That makes it comparable to one submission of Elf-Only Inn, where they talk about a "goth" chatroom.

"I'm bored."
"What do we do now?"
"VAMPIRE ROLEPLAY"
"I CALL LESTAT"
"You called Lestat last time!"

Basically, it seems to most, to be a bunch of depressive kids all trying to be the MOST depressive just to get attention.

Hahaha, I applaud you for that. It was well spoken and true. Not caring that you dont care is cool these days. And sitting in dark corners are all the rage. I just guess it would get a little cramped.

Well, I try to be less of an "emo hater", more of an "emo fixer". I don't mind if you call yourself emo, as long as you dump all the annoying riders...

That would take a long time to explain. Basically, what I take on as my job, particularly in this guild, is to take the fuel away from emo-haters--those people annoy me more than the stereotypical emo, usually because their methods are so base and stupid. The way I take the fuel from the fire is by helping to cleanse the stereotypical emo of everything that makes them stereotypical in the first place.

That's the short version.

That makes sence. I think that the emo haters are worse then the steryotypes around here, but you shouldnt try to change people too much. They are who they are.

I realize that, but there's tweakings that can be done, and usually people end up happier...

Though, inside the guild, my task is more directed towards the Life Issues--where I view myself as somewhat of a junior psychologist, a doctor of sorts.

Yeah. I think that you could help out in the issues section with people and cutting and all that bull s**t and tell them that its worth being alive. They need to hear something other that 'hate' sometimes.

And you're doing quite a good job, if I must say.

Anything that isn't mainstream will be outcast from society, metal, punk, goth, all have been outcast from society a damn sight longer then emo. Besides, would you rather the culture gets absorbed into the mainstream and becomes a simple fad?

It is already mainstream on some level. People try to copy, but then again it is hated by a HELL of a lot of people.

...I think they only pick on emos because we're different than everyone else....Like we have different interests and such...Besides, as my awesome science teacher said last year, anything different is weird and whatever's weird, gets annoyed or picked on until it's un-weird...

It's like one of my fave quotes:
if you're normal then you're different and if you're different you're normal
so just be different,.. uh.. err... normal!

Jeje. Anyways, anything that is not classified cool by a large group of people will be "weird, "stupid, "idiotic", or "lame"
It's always like that.
Anyways, emo is hated because it is viewed by those who aren't truly emo as choosing to be depressed and sad. Of course, we don't choose it, we just feel it more than others.
Now, I bet 2/3 of this guild is filled with posers and that 1/16 is made of emo haters under disguise....
MOST(quote the most) people who call themselves emo are posers, because emo is a stereotype, and you are you and not something except for a human being.
