Overview

This old, abandoned town is a great place for games of hide-and-go-seek, as well as places to live if Den members care to live in their humanoid shapes instead of in their fox forms. On the edge of town, freshly built, is the shop of the only human of the Den: Sever Citrin. It also serves as a small infirmary, as well as selling just about anything anyone could wish for. Other buildings show a few signs of habitation, but most are run down, though a few useful items, or objects of some value, might be found.

Ilamelle darted into one of the abandoned houses, one with a porch, leaning support pillars keeping the roof stationary over the old boards, and two stories. Stifling her giggles, she dashed through the entryway into the living room, then into the kitchen, looking for a good hiding place. The place was dusty, the white sheets over the sparse furniture turned gray with the stuff, and she had to hold in an explosive sneeze once or twice as it swirled through the sunbeam-cut air. There was an old cabinet system in the kitchen still, the counter-top covered with dirt and dust, and it was easy enough to find a cupboard which appeared to have once contained something large, like pots and pans, as it had no shelf dividing it in half. With only a little bit of a wriggle, she managed to squeeze inside it and close the door to only a sliver. There she waited, panting softly, heart pounding, congratulating herself on finding a great hiding place. Levi would never find her here!

Levi had only caught a glimpse of her darting into the house, and as fast as he could pursued Ilamelle into the abandoned, dust-filled home. With quiet steps and crouched low to the ground to minimize the chances of his sister seeing him as he looked for her, he made his way through the living room but not into the kitchen. Ilamelle often like hiding on the second story of homes that had them he remembered, so he quickly dashed up a majority of the stairs until some of them gave way, and Levi yelped and pulled back just in time to fall backwards on his butt down the stairs, landing hard on the floor. "Owwww...."

The loud crashes and thumps, followed by the sound of her brother's voice made her half choke on her laughter. She clamped both hands to her mouth, shaking with repressed giggles as she tried to keep quiet. She peered through her sliver of light, trying to catch a glimpse of him. Unable to help herself, she sent a tendril of thought out toward him, trying to see through his eyes for a moment or at the very least get a memory of what had just happened. Her mind brushed his lightly.

The memory of the stairs falling out underneath him and tumbling backwards flooded into Ilamelle's mind as Levi got back up to his feet in a flash, looking around behind him and searching for the kitchen. Finding it, Levi treaded quietly and dropped to the ground, shifting into his cougar-cub form as he sniffed around. Found you! He exclaimed excitedly, dashing over to the cupboard and opening it with his nose, nuzzling his head into Ilamelles' stomach to keep her pinned in there. He knew she was ticklish over her stomach, and nuzzling her with his downy-soft fur was only going to spur on tickle-fits.

She shrieked happily, laughing and wriggling, tugging on his ears and burying her face and hands in his soft fur. Finally she placed her feet against his chest and pushed at his shoulders with her hands, attempting to get free of the cupboard. "My turn, my turn, Levi! I count!"

He laughed into her mind and licked her cheek, shifting back to his normal self as he got ready to rush off. "Okay, but no peeking like last time, Ila!" He teased, closing the door to the cupboard and dashing off while suppressing his laughter, rushing out of the abandoned house and to the old Forge no longer in use.

With a giggle, she closed her eyes and put her hands up over them so he'd see she was really not looking this time. Counting loudly and with only a little hesitation, she got up to twenty before she lost patience and yelled "Ready or not, here I come!" at the top of her considerable lungs. Wriggling out of the cabinet was a little tougher than she'd anticipated, and she was forced to shift into a fox form to remove herself from the tight-ish space. She checked the other rooms, but knew he rarely hid in the same place that he found her, so she checked the street and followed her nose slowly to the forge area. It took her a while, as the wind was blowing the dust of the main street about and confusing the scent, but eventually she got within a block of the place and shifted back to her five-year-old form. "Where could he be?" she murmured to herself, looking about. There were a few older houses in the area, but she didn't trust the look of them, and was pretty sure her slightly older and more cautious brother wouldn't like them if she didn't. Some of the neighboring shops looked ok, though... She headed for the one next to the forge that had once been an old leather-works place.
