Ah! Saint Dragon Girl... I read a bit of Miracle and wasn't too big on it either. I'm willing to look into SDG though... (Heh, SDG and SDC... heh xp ) *ahem*

Let's see... right now, I'm really getting into Wataru Yoshizumi's stuff. I've only read the first tankouban of Ultra Maniac and the first few chapters of Datte Suki Nandamon though. But I plan on reading more of her works in the near future. 3nodding Other favorite manga-ka... Natsuki Takaya is up there. I love Fruits Basket, and her artwork is beautiful as well (in my opinon... though, not as good as Arina's ninja ). Umm..... I feel like there's more. gonk I guess that sums it up for manga-ka.

What am I currently reading? Oh lordy, I'm following a lot of series right now... What I'm currently following:

Fruits Basket
Full Moon o Sagashite (the English release...)
Land of the Blindfolded
One Piece
Shinshi Doumei Cross
Shutterbox
Ultra Maniac
Yu-Gi-Oh
Whatever's running in Shojo Beat (particularly Nana, Absolute Boyfriend, and Crimson Hero, but I read the others as well...)

And I want to catch up on all my old Ribon series as well.. so once that happens, I'll be back into Ageha 100%, Datte Suki Nandamon, and Saboten no Himitsu (I want to know how it ends!! >_> ), among others. Hey, Kaze-chan, how's Star Blacks? I liked Aishiteruze Baby, but I wound up missing the beginning of her new series, and now I'm way behind. You don't have to tell me what happened or anything, I'll find that out eventually. I just want to know if it's good or not. xp

Dang, I need to cut down. Again. gonk

shoujo beat, is it good? i want to see it~

I like it. I have a subscription. biggrin

Mmm... manga... Actually, it's probably better to do it by mangaka... Watase Yuu, Yazawa Ai, Kayono, Shinjo Mayu, Yoshizumi Wataru, CLAMP, Akamatsu Ken, Miyagi Riko. Those are my favorites. :3

Anyway, if you've never heard of Kayono... she has really beautiful art. Her stories are romantic but there are usually sex scenes because her work is published in Cheese (a Japanese magazine filled with H stories), so watch out. xd If you are interested, you can download my favorite Kayono short story here. I uploaded it for someone on LJ and I don't want all that time to go to waste (took me 45 minutes!)

I like Shojo Beat as well. It's worth checking out. 3nodding

Oh, and thanks for the link, Solar. Kayono's works sound interesting, so I'll probably read the short story. ^^;

Rumiko Takahashi and Daisuke Moriyama. I favour Daisuke Moriyama more though, he's the one responsible for Chrno Crusade (Chrono Crusade.) It's a great manga about nuns, guns, demons, time...and it's set in New York which is different from other manga.

List of Leri's Shoujo Animanga Likings

Bold = a favorite

Aishiteruze Baby
Card Captor Sakura
DNAngel
Fruits Basket
Good Morning Call
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (HanaKimi)
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (Karekano)
Skip Beat
Sleeping Beauty
Tokyo Mew Mew - (I admit. It's corny but I like it anyways sweatdrop )
W Juliet
Wild Act
Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend)

List of Leri's Shounen Animanga Likings

Bold = a favorite

Black Cat
Death Note
Naruto
One Piece
Samurai Champloo - (a favorite but... I haven't seen the rest of the anime yet. The plot to "let's look for the sunflower samurai" is REALLYYY gonna bug me if that's it and nothing else)
Tsubasa ReserVOIR Chronicle
Yuugiou - (It gets tiring after a while but this one is special because of personal experiences)

-----------

I'd name more but I'm a bit ticked off at the reviews for Shinshi Doumei Cross at yesasia.com. One person who bought the first volume says this (and gave it 1 1/2 star out of 5 stars rating):

I purchased this online a few days ago, after hearing a lot of good things about the author. I must say this series is disappointing and NOT worth my money. There are too many cliches and the plot is predictable. It's the typical high school story of a cool quiet boy and a cheerful not so cool girl who likes him. The story is random, one minute the girl is poor and the next she's the most popular girl in school and going out with the cool dude! Then there's the "I'm gay NOT!!!" trick and the complete ripoff of Clamp! The relationship between the main character and her best frind is just like Sakura and Tomoyo!! I was expecting an original storyline, and decent characters, but I got neither. This is the last time I am EVER buying a manga by this author!

An opinion is an opinion. I respect that. However, to judge on one book of an author and say you're never gonna buy any of their other works is completely immature.

Apparently, she was not very well informed. All her complaints are directed toward Arina Tanemura's strong points. Her use of stereotypes and typical plot lines are one of the main reasons I like her. Let me see if I can explain it better...

Take KKJ for example. At first glance, it is the basic set up for a magical thief story line. Maron is your average spunky magical girl with a best friend who's father works for the police. And of course, there's the obligatory love interest.

However, it's the twists she puts on these stereotypes that make it interesting. First of all, she's the reincarnation of Joan D'arc. That's not the half of it either. By the time she is through with the stereotype, it's so full of twists and quirks that it can no longer be considered 'stereotypical'. Stereotypes work for a reason, after all.

At least, that's my two cents in it. If that person doesn't want to give the manga a chance because of their misconceptions, it's their loss.

As to favourite manga... Dragon Knights, Fruits Basket, Magic Knight Rayearth, basically anything done by CLAMP (though I can't say I'm all too fond of the new style they seem to be trying in Tsubasa Chronicles), Sailor V and Sailor Moon (can't help those last two. sweatdrop They were the first, therefore they will always be one of the best on my list.)

scream who is this rude person!! scream nicely put, memorydragon! that was so good! ha! id like to see this person!

seriously tho, i mean, what resembles between CCS and SDC? hello? is this person INSANE???? this person is kinda stupid. i mean, CCS and SDC? hello???? where have you been? lol. blaugh

but anyway, i totally respect people's opinions, but if its going to be a really really really negative comment, why dont they just keep it to themselves? i mean, its rude!

EDIT: hehehe...i added a review! lol.

Quote:
Well, shinshi doumei doesnt get really into the story intil comic #2. I mean, to me, i agree, it was really boring-ish at first. but now, with shizun's little secret *tear* its getting really interesting. also, i dont get this whole OMG! CLAMP RIP OFF! thing. i mean, dont you think that no story can NEVER, EVER look alike to some other manga? I mean, come on! there are like, what, bizillion mangas out there! hello? use your brain. sheesh. if you dont get it, then think of music. there are lots of songs with the same words. why? beacause they cant avoide it!! one way or another, you are going to run into one that is similar!!!! AND! its not like CLAMP anymore after shizun's little secret.

hehehe xd

*didn't notice this before*

gonk

Saying "it's not worth my money". Pft. Yes, some aspects of SDC are a tad cliche but..come on..it's a shoujo. What do you expect? Besides, the plot has some major twists and mystery that is not cliche at all. And it really is nothing like CCS. Dunno where they came up with that. I don't think they really took the time to read it. I mean, if they had, they'd know that Haine got popular because she was a new member of the student council. She got to go out with Shizumasa because he thought it would help his plan to make her hate him. If they would have REALLY read the manga they would have known that. But they were too busy criticizing to get it.
