This is a very old game. I wonder if anyone remembers it. Ha ha ha.
My tip is, when you see a Koopa Troopa, jump on its back and try to knock out 5 of them or more in a row without jumping on to the koopa troopa again or getting hit by its shell.
The result of doing this is an extra mario.

Interesting tip, but... that doesn't really help. How come are the "warping pipes" your "best friend" in this game?
Any newbie would ask you that.
They'd say, "What makes these warping pipes so great?"
Well, from my experience with this game, what you really want to do is to avoid jumping down holes, getting hit by anything when small, and hit every question mark and brick whenever you see one.
Jumping on Goombas will squash them. After all, they are only mushrooms that walk.
Timing can mean everything because if you are off, you are going to have one heck of a time trying to pass this game.
Oh, and when you reach the flag at the end of each level, you are going to want to try and reach the top of the flag and slide down for that is how you make the most pointage.

Yeah, these tips are supposed to be without glitches. So, from now on, please give tips that do not associate with glitches.
However, the glitches may prove to be useful to some, so, if you remember, what is this minus world you speak of?

World 2-2 over and over again and it keeps looping until time runs out.
The Warp Zone is not a glitch though, it helps you skip levels.
