I talked about this in the Black Tower guild and in here a long time ago. I agree completely. They also both have the Creator and a Dark One. And in both only the evil side actually has any supernatural things happening, you don't see thee 'good' entity do anything. Then again the 'Creator' is just the forces of nature, as Zedd said in one of the first novels.
Between the two, SoT is better. That's what I think. I managed to read up to the tenth book, but didn't read it, from everyone I knew:
Spoiler!~
You only read about the female characters mostly, you only see Rand Al Thor once maybe.
I don't know if anybody noticed this, but I found the series to kind of put down the male gender as a bunch of idiots... that or make women in there out to be pompous arrogant people who whole-heartedly believed they were superior to men. And I'm not just talking about the Red Ajah... though I wished every time I read parts with them in it that they'd die a horrible death. It felt like I was reading the human version of Drow Elves. (Drow society is female dominated, men are considered slaves.)
I'm not saying i'm sexist or anything, it's just that at so many moments the male main characters -- and some decent secondary ones -- were being put down and objectified by the female characters... it's what killed the whole experience for me.
Heck, most of the Aes Sedai kept thinking Rand to be a stupid little shepherd boy when he was doing everything they were never able to.
