I've noticed in both this fine guild and the Death Note guild I belong to that several people have mentioned their parents/guardians not knowing about their obsession with Death Note. I, for one, can sympathize because my dad is not too keen on anime/manga to begin with, and Death Note is a leetle, shall we say...dark? 3nodding
So I was wondering, is anyone else an "underground" Death Note/L lover?
And if so, why? sweatdrop
Share you story with me! XD
(Um, actually with me, I've never hidden anything, it's just my dad doesn't frankly give a damn about that kind of thing. But I don't think he'd be happy if he did start caring. Heh.)

My friends and i have nicknames you see. Lee is Light, his gf Glow is Misa, and im L. My parents know of my fedish, and they think im cute when I dress as L, and sit like him, and talk like him. My parents love anime and Death Note. I just told them straight-forward and they accepted that. Im so sorry to hear that some parents aren't that accepting of Death Note.. crying

Well, my parents own a comic book store, and they supply all my books. So, well, it's not a problem at all (my dad helps me with the anatomy of my drawings...). I can totally see how parents would freak over DN, though. I mean, it's realllyyyy dark at some points (the whole mass murderer thang, y'know?). I have a friend that I call Light when I get mad at him, and he used to call me L (even though I'm a girl), until, you know. And, Light (friends) kinda sorta girlfriend we call Misa (she doesn't know this...lol).

Death Note seems to be something the people around me can get into. My nickname's Mello of course and my brothers are Watari and Kira [don't ask me why]. I have friends who are L, Mikami, Ryuk, and Misa as well [all girls].
And my parents have never really minded this stuff but for some reason when we went out over the weekend for dinner my brothers and I started talking about the plot of Death Note and explaining it to my mom. She actually said it sounded very interesting and that she wanted to watch the movie with us sometime and she asked if I had the first books so she could read them. I was very surprised but also super excited to show this series to my mom though she might think it's not the best thing for my 10 year brother [Kira] to get into... sweatdrop

My dad thinks it should be banned here like its banned from schools in China, lol. XD My mom, she doesn't wanna hear about it but she doesn't care what I read as long as I'm not reading porno, lol. XD

Yeah, I talk about it too much, so they get mad at me for it. Especially when I sit/walk like L (they say it'll ruin my back, but I'm just practicing for the con). But y'know, they hate manga and anime, soo... ;_;

Only my mom knows about my love a Death Note and L. I've tried to get her to watch the anime, but she hardly has any time. Other than that, no one else knows. It probably doesn't help that I'm a complete loner...
