Each pokemon's power, in the pokedex that is, is determined by species and not nature.
Tyranitars able to destroy entire mountains Yanma able to shatter glass with their wingbeats Magneton able to heat an area of 3000 feet 3 degrees hotter
Would this work in our, or in any, world? If they really have these abilities, why can't Magneton learn Heat Wave?
It's just a bit confuzzling.

Well you do have some pokemon with the abilty to learn off type attacks. You can teach rock types fire attacks with the correct TM, or how Misty's Garydos uses Flamethrower, and Garydos is a water type. But Garydos does have dragon qualties, so i guess its a gimme. There are also other pokemon that are like that.
Pikachu - Iron Tail Charizard - sismec toss (bad on spelling) Bulbasuar - Dig (during a episode when bulbasuar went to pro. oaks lab to help with a hoppip evoultion chain migration problem)
There are others but im can't think of them now.

The majority of the time when you have pokemon with strange type moves that aren't of it's original type, they're based on what the pokemon is based off of. For one of those examples, Blaziken is a pokemon that prides itself on fighting and the move Poison Jab is an attack that it can learn. Why? There are plenty of reasons why it could or how it could. For example, Blaziken could secrete a toxin from it's claws. Or it could even simply be because the move is known as a 'jab', which is a common name for a strike used in various martial arts.
The way I see it, any pokemon that uses it's hands in a similar way to humans can also learn Punch attacks and a few other fighting attacks like Brick Break.
@Yuichiro: In direct analysis of why Magneton can't learn Heat Wave, I think of it this way. Magneton is literally 3 previous Magnemite connected and thus is three magnets. Even though they have positive and negative energies amongst them, they still exude a more powerful positive or negative energy. This energy is keeping them alive, and also afloat in the pokemon's universe. I believe that it's the kinetic energy exuding from the pokemon itself that makes the temperature around it rise and not it's actual abilities themselves.
So if this logic is used; one would assume that Magneton cannot learn Heat Wave because it's a passive trait of the pokemon itself and not a battling trait.

That answers many questions accross the board. I never thought about Blaziken having toxin's in his body, however it does make sense. Many animals, including humans produce toxins. Something I have made by pokemon breeding is an Abra with all 3 elemental punches (Fire punch, Ice punch, Thunder punch) and, it is pretty sweet. I bred into it a high disposition for a great attack stat making it a flexable warrior. It is really nifty. *just thought I would brag a little, sorry*
