Wondering where to start.. If you say the beginning, Imma wack you! Can't remember, seems too long ago.. Lets see.. Ehm.. Right.. We went to Austria.. We being my parents, sister, brother and me.. For a week..
An internet-less week, moreover.. Strangest thing is that my internet "addiction" didn't seem to be affecting that... All those hours behind gaia.. Everything.. I didn't miss it.. I only missed certain individuals, some I missed like crazy, but on the whole, I figured out all those hours on gaia never were an addiction, just pure time killing.. No single internet cafe in the place we were, and even when we went to the city, the only place I could find asked for about 3 dollars per ten minutes.. What the hell do they want me to do in ten minutes? Logging in takes one or two minutes, then I have 6/7 minutes to talk, before I log off again? Not to mention I had no idea where to get the money from xD It was torture..
Now, about Austria.. We were originally supposed to go to Kaprun.. Small, pretty lil place.. Turned out the agency was stupid as hell, and overbooked.. Which meant that we had to get someplace else... Zell am See.. That's what that place was called..
Very pretty, though I dunno whether I ended up being glad about the change or not... Appartment-wise, it was a major improvement.. From a 5/6 person small cabin thingers, we got a 12-person, two-floor appartment xD Each of us a room to themselves, except for my parents (when mum brought that up, I told her it was their own fault, they shouldn't have married then xD) insteada having to share it, like the original plan xD Neighbourhood-wise.. Eh.. Not so good.. Sleepless nights were always blamed on myself, I kept me awake thinking too much.. I thought what wif the mountain-air and all, or from the mere exhaustion of the day's activities, I actually might be able to fall asleep at night... No such luck... Would've happened, maybe.. If it hadn't been for the world's most stupid invention... Karaoke... Right under my rotten window From 9 pm to somewhere early morning.. Every single night... Blegh!
What else? Oh, yeah.. I wore sneakers.. As in, closed ones.. Those that don't look anything close to sandals.. Actual sneakers.. xD I haven't worn closed shoes for, like, 5 years now.. And sneakers, maybe even longer xD Bad for my feet? Definitely.. But I'm sure that my feet would've crumbled if I hadn't worn them.. Tis like choosing surgery over amputation? Egh, why did I have to bring that up? Surgery tomorrow .. Yuck.. So yeah, sneakers xD Two sized bigger then my own feet, for teh protection.. xD Felt weird like hell xD
Day by day:
Friday 17th: We left at night, later then planned, which is always wif us.. We always run out of time, it seems.. Bad planning? Bad self-discipline? xD After a 14 hour ride we finally arrived.. Torture for my body, being sandwiched between two younger siblings who slept almost the entire time and used me as their pillow/mattress/blankie xD
Saturday 18th: When we walked in, first thing we did was unpack... Did I say we? I meant them.. I dun unpack xD I hung around, watched my dad falling asleep, then my brother, then mum... It was fun, they didn't even use their queen-size beds xD Went for a stroll in the evening, to the See (ie. lake)..
Sunday 19th: First mountain walk.. Five hours.. Not that good to start with, especially not when I dun do all that much normally... Figured I'd be dead later... Figured right.. xD We took a lift at some point, up the mountain, then walked it down.. Turned out that was even worse xD Up means using all the leg muscles to carry your weight.. Down means the knees are the ones that carry the rest of you.. My poor right knee is not that good, which meant I over-used my left one.. Ended up killing both xD
Monday 20th: Went to Kaprun, the place we were supposed to stay at... Saw a whole deal, caves and waterfalls... Gorges.. An uber-big lake.. Another day of lotsa walking.. By that evening, every single muscle from my abdomen and downwards hurt like crazy.. Mum thought it might be smart to take a break the next day, do something with not a lot of effort.. Dad thought otherwise.. xD Bro and sis sided up with him, so we took another walk in the evening...
Tuesday 21st: You'd think they'd stop walking and take it easy after everyone got up with major muscle aches.. Nopes xD That day was the day to the highest mountain of Europe: The Grossglockner... Pretty lil thing! Ice top, gletchers, trees.. We actually walked through the clouds, at some 2,6 kms.. It was freezing! Soooo cold! Didn't feel that kinda temp. for years.. And that in August! Walking through clouds was interesting.. Tis like mist.. fog.. You can see a meter or two in front of you, the rest is white/greyish.. The top itself was above the clouds xD That was like being above the weather, all sun, and looking over the clouds as cotton patches.. Like from a plane, technically, only not as warm xD Everywhere along the road upwards there were little expositions along with the souvenir shops.. Some museums, some movies about it all.. Very interesting, all of it.. At the very top, there was this book you could sign, that I did! ^_^
Wednesday 22nd: A whole entire day to Salzburg.. Big city, and the first thing I saw when we got off the bus (we drove to outside Salzburg with the car, then took a day card wif the bus for the rest of the day) was a Gucci store.. I actually wanted to turn around and go home.. I dunno why.. I was reading The Devil Wears Prada at the time, so bumping into a Gucci headfirst was actually funny, I thought later on.. xD Another day with lotsa walking.. Saw Mozart's birthplace.. His residence.. His square.. xD Salzburg= Mozartstadt. ( aka the city of Mozart) xD Oh, this was the city wif the internet cafe that charged per minute xD Tore my heart out.. Stupid people.. The whole streets were lined wif artists, like in Paris.. And there also was this giant chessboard someplace in a square, as big as that of Harry Potter's first book chessboard thingers.. Really big, that is.. Human-sized-knights... Got a T-shirt there.. Cutest cat on there ever.. It says: Lazy Days - Austria.. Lazy days.. Yeah right.. xD Went to Hellbrunn later that day, southest of Salzburg.. Museum, greatness of Markus Retikus.. his palace and gardens.. Biggest water-garden thingers ever.. It had trick-fountains, and our guide had a great time making sure that every single one of us went home soaked to their skin... I actually made it easy for him, me and nine others -my siblings amongst them- volunteered to sit in the places where the dukes and duchesses, princes and princesses used to sit, when this Markus person had them over for visits.. Their seats were fountains, the table had an inbuilt fountain, the ground under our feet was nothing but fountains.. Then the place of this Markus would be the only place that'd stay dry, the rest would be splashed wet .. As a refreshment orso.. My poor pants xD Then we ate out.. Paella.. Yum.. Then we visited the Mirabella gardens.. By that time it was already dark, so no enjoying the beautiful colours of the flowers, or their patterns.. But the live orchestra and the glowing fountain made up for it, twas pretty.. On the bus, back to the car.. Turned out dad left on the lights.. Dead battery... Twas so late, parking lot was empty.. Or nearly empty, one car at the far end started.. They went running after it.. Dad stopped them and in broken English tried explaining we needed help and didn't want to get stuck there, only to find out five minutes and a whole lot of embarrasment later that they were dutch too xD... I laughed my head off xD Took some fifteen minutes, then they got our battery resurrected... Went home real late, and the karaoke frustrated me more then ever that particular night..
Thursday 23rd: Deep down day.. Triple D.. Spent the entire day in bed, and nothing anybody said or did could get me to get up.. I dropped the whole happy act that day too, the facade was just taking too much energy, which I didn't have anymore.. Only when the day was over I got persuaded to accompany them in a small walk around Zell am See, to the lake and back, just so I couldn't say I spent an entire day inside..
Friday 24th: Was counting down the hours, minutes even by then.. -still doing that now, heh- We went for a boatride in the lake, then drove to Lofer, to see if we could ride horses anywhere.. By the time we'd found someplace, the guides had already left.. Spent the rest of the day helping them pack, seeing as I was done within ten minutes orso.. Read a lot that day, too.. 180 pages orso.. Wilbur Smith's A Time To Die..
Saturday 25th: They all got up fairly early, I helped in waking up, the alarm clocks were failing, I had promised to act as a live one.. They spent hours and hours running around in circles, only me and mum were desperate to leave.. My sis actually wanted to stay for another week.. I nearly died when she suggested that.. Spent that whole day in the car, 8 hours, then a bathroom in some gas station, which doesn't count as a leg stretch, really, then after another 5 hours we took an hour break by passing by my Aunt's.. We'd crossed the border by that time... Mum's sister has this lil' black poodle.. Amazing animal <3.. Another two and a half hours later we'd finally come home.. It was past midnight by then, and we were shooed upstairs almost immediately.. I think I actually slept an hour.. In any case I drifted off.. And I finished A Time to Die.. I dun think I have read 500+ pages in two days since skimming through the novels for my exams in June.. For anything besides school I haven't done that in at least two years..
Not looking forward to tomorrow.. Surgery is prolly gonna make me miss that gaia thingers.. Festival? xD No clue in what shape Imma be after that.. Last time it took a day of fasting, three days on liquids, another three days on things as porridge.. That's a whole week of no food.. Nightmare, in other words.. Not looking forward to that at all.. Maybe now I'm older I'll be able to take it better, the other surgery was a couple of years ago.. No idea.. Hope so.. *squeamish*
