Homosexuality vs. Religion (RANT/WARNING) |

I know what I'm about to bring up is quite controversial. This is the reason why I am giving this warning ahead of time. If you do not want to be possibly offended at my views, do not read this, I say this in warning. I expect flames, as most people respond for the fact of getting a rise out of the journal poster. Say what you will, the fact remains is this. These are my views and I find it hard that you will be able to change my point of view by flaming and trolling. But if you still feel the need to ignore my warnings, go ahead, but be aware that I may snap back, I am a kitsune after all. *Smirks*

Earlier this evening I was given an interesting link to look at by a close friend of mine. My friend is agnostic, and I am Christian. None the less the link I was given involved a journal entry in which stated that Homosexuality and the people involved are EVIL and are doing the Devil's work.
I do NOT agree with this and I find the journal absolutely foul in nature. This is what lead me to make my own little rant on the subject.
As I have said I am Christian, Episcopalian to be exact. I am not a bible toting zealot, though I am not a Satanist either, however I do have my own views. And what are those views? Well I am about to share them with you. The views I speak of is homosexuality.
1. I do not scorn homosexuals. It is their life, their choice.
-As a Christian I do NOT believe in judging someone by what they believe, that in its self is evil. The worse thing that a Christian can do is gossip and judge people by who and what they do. It flat out says that you are not to judge people. And yet many Christians judge about a lot of things. Religion, homosexuality, fantasy based books, amongst many other things. They are quick to point out the blame and yet they do not open their blind eyes and see it. I am not saying that all Christians are like this, but the fact remains that there are a lot of Christian Fanatics out there and I know this for a fact because my Mother is one.
For example, she has committed adultery and yet preaches that homosexuality is 'disgusting' and 'sickening'. She also says that drinking is evil and yet she is killing herself with tobacco. And yet she will not open her eyes and realize that what she is doing is wrong. There are a lot of Christians who are Bible fanatics out there who are doing this sort of thing. It bothers me greatly and it gives Christians a bad name. I have lost count on how many people, Wicca, Buddhist, agnostic, or what have you say that they do not like Christians because of this fact. I hate that bad image I have for being a Christian.
2. Do I think homosexuality is a sin?
-I do not know. I don't know my belief in this, I do not know where to go with it. Why? For one the Bible has been written over and over again. And our current bible that we use is the King's James Version. A womanizing zealot in himself. There are places within the bible that says the woman should bow down and listen to whatever the man says in the relationship. I honestly don't believe in that, and I feel its a load of crap. Why? Because I do not think God would want men to beat on their wives and abuse them. Just as I don't believe that God scorns homosexuals. They are how they are and I accept it.
3. Hormones and homosexuals? Or is it a choice?
- I believe that it could very well be both. There are many places in the bible that says that homosexualism is bad is wrong. But how can God scorn someone who has the wrong sort of hormones? How can he downcast those sorts of people? I don't believe it. But I also wonder if it is a choice in some part. I also do not think that God is going to scorn you for making that choice. There are many people who say that God does not like the sin but loves the sinner. I do not see sin in love, if love is done to make someone genuinely happy then it is not a sin. However if it is done to DEFY God then it is a sin. This is the same with homosexuality in my opinion. If you are doing it to defy God then it is a sin. Just as a straight relationship can be full of sin if it is done to defy God.
4. Well you're Christian and you like yaoi! You hypocrite!
-Call me what you like, I don't care. Yaoi is a fantasy, (I'm talking about the anime and manga here). I also like shojo-ai. Its not real, its drawings. And that is that. I will not go further into it as it is rather cut and clean for me.
5. You called me judgmental!
-Damn right I called you judgmental, if you're going to judge someone who has that right to be homosexual or not, then you are. I don't care what background you came from, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, or purple men from space... If you're going to judge someone then you're just as bad as the next sinner.
6. God doesn't teach hate! Its Satan whispering to us to make us gay!
-God doesn't teach hate, no. But he does NOT stop things from happening to us. He allows it. He allows us to die, he allows us to live. He gave us free will and the choice to do with what we will with our lives. It is the choices that we make. No amount of praying is going to make God come down here and smite our foes. We make our choices and we lead from those choices, it is as simple as that. Satan does not involve himself either. He does not go out there and kill people. If he does whisper things to us, then we are to blame for that seduction. We reap our own reward. No one makes you do anything. God and Satan do not make a homosexual, homosexual. It is how they are. Satan does not whisper to us when we are born to make us straight or not. Simple as that.
7. All other religions are evil! Christian religion is the best it says that homosexuality is bad!
-Wrong. Wrong. WRONG! No Religion is bad unless it intentionally harms someone. The Christian religion is no better. No religion is the best. It is what you believe and what you thrive upon. Some of the worse wars are created from "religion", look at the Crusades... And then tell me that the Christian religion is the best. It is the PEOPLE not the Religion that cause these things. It is belief and thought that are the most frightening. This is why it is so dangerous, and why so many people are killed. They are killed over such things. John Lennon had a good grasp upon this, his song "Imagine" explains what people do for that sort of thing.
I honestly can go on and on about Religion vs. Homosexuality.. But I feel that this is far enough. It is not wrong to love, it is not wrong to be homosexual. It is how it is. As long as you love, and you honestly love, that you're true to your relationship and you do not create a false idol of your love against God in whatever form he or she is in... Then it is not sin. The ultimate sin is turning a blind eye upon what you do not know. Do not be so jaded as to snub someone, to judge them or to harm them in some way because of your beliefs.
