Miharu and Aiko reached the edge of town going unnoticed by mostly using alleys and less populated paths. But the edge was a huge towering wall of rock. It towered over each of them and their plans of leaving the city unnoticed were becoming less and less fathomable with each moment wasted staring at the wall. Miharu broke her gaze first. “How do we get across Master?” “We…we…. I don’t know.” “If you do not know then are we stuck inside the city?” “Of course not… Were simply taking our time.” “Oh…” She didn’t seem to believe that this was the best way to waste time but Aiko had no idea how to get across the wall. He could walk along it and see if there was a shorter ledge further down but the thought of being spotted by the men in black wasn’t appealing. But that seemed to be the only way across the wall. “Come on Miharu, Were going to go threw the front door.” “But men are there and they are not friendly to Miharu.” “It’ll be ok, I’ll make them friendly.’’ He wasn’t sure if he said that to raise her confidence or his own. “Yes Master.” He started to walk eastward along the wall not knowing if along the way he would have to turn back the other way. His luck proved good as a small desk with a few of those guys in black came into view. But maybe lady luck favored all instead of him. The men at the desk looked towards Aiko and Miharu and they quickly grabbed a metallic staff. Aiko stopped and contemplated the benefits of running the other way. But he guessed that they would have more men after them. He gripped his katana and walked on, Miharu trailing behind more slowly. He wasn’t sure of his fighting ability since he hadn’t even fought with his sword yet but there was a first for everything, He was just disappointed his first might possibly be his last. As Aiko neared the men they gripped there own weapons and started to advance with one behind the other two. The one behind stopped and the other two continued. Two against one, Couldn’t be too hard could it? Aiko’s throat was dry and his stomach felt soar But he couldn’t turn back now. The distance was closing, slowly but closing nonetheless. Fifteen feet from contact Aiko drew his katana and held it at an angle towards his right foot. The Uniformed men looked startled by the sudden weapon. Maybe they weren’t used to someone who fought back? Aiko ran. The men brought their staffs before them to guard against an attack. As he ran his instincts told him what to do. He swung his sword in a wide arc before him to hit the first staff. The other man, seeing an opening, Began to bring his staff around to hit Aiko but Aiko had gripped the first man’s staff the wrenched it towards him. The second man’s staff smacked into the others side making a dull thud which made him down with a gasp. With one man down Aiko rushed the second. The man didn’t have much time to regain himself as he had just stunned his partner and Aiko didn’t plan on letting him. The man started to bring his staff back to block the hit but Aiko’s katana was already to the man’s chest leaving a razor sharp slash in the uniform. A little blood rushed out but it was enough to make the man fall to his knees in shock. Aiko smiled wide as he had defeated two men. But it faded as the man who had stayed behind was suddenly before him, a staff coming down towards Aiko. He leapt to the side and the staff struck his left forearm. Aiko let it hang at his side. The pain from the thick metal left his arm numb but at least his right arm was still usable. He gripped his katana and swung it downwards at the uniformed man who was waiting for him too attack. He brought the staff up, deflecting Aiko’s Katana, and then twirled it above his head before bringing one of the two ends into Aiko’s chest knocking him back off his feet. Aiko landed on his a** with a red mark gleaming brightly on his chest. He went to get back to his feet but winced from the sudden bolt of pain coming from the mark. He looked at the man who walked towards him with a menacing glare. But then Miharu, Who just now made her presence known, Ran before the man and trusted her knee upward into the man’s groin. Needless to say the man wasn’t getting up soon. She helped Aiko to his feet and dragged him threw the open gate, into the shadowy forest.
