In 6th grade, I was in the spelling bee for the first time. I won the classroom one, came in 4th for the entire school, and made it to the conference. I spelled my practice word right, then spelled my very first word wrong. Almost the exact same thing happened this year, I won the classroom one, came in 2nd in the school, made it to the county and conference. I spelled my practice word right for the county, then my first word wrong. Last night, the curse was broken! I spelled my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth word right! My seventh word wrong. Out of 35 people, I was in the TOP TEN! biggrin Even though I didn't win, I made it farther than my last few spelling bees. I sound so sappy right now. cool
