The first occurrence of the word in English dictionaries is recorded as 1902. In German, the term Wanderlust sounds old-fashioned today to some. To retranslate the English Wanderlust in the sense of "love of travel", the expression Fernweh (composing of 'Fern'= 'far' and 'weh'= 'ache', compare to 'Heimweh'=homesickness 'Heim'=home) is more appropriate.
