"The rose of pity"
Roses have always meant love to me,
All that I saw were their lush leaves,
Their smooth stems; simply stunning,
And of course their soft ruby petals.
After meeting a sly devil like you,
Thorns made their presence known,
The petals became a cold blue,
And their meaning became pity.
I never minded this at all,
It was their leaves you altered,
Smooth green diamond shapes,
Burning just like your eyes.
You seem to enjoy containing me,
With scorn and pity with those leaves,
But I am like a frivolous moth,
And I am doomed to dance,
Around your flaming rose of pity.
Shall we dance once more,
Before I must drop this pen,
Or would you rather us to never finish this,
So I might continue to court my wretched fate?
