Lucky me, school was even more fun the next day. It was Friday, so I guess thats the only good thing about it. I was wandering the halls in search of the library because I was the aid for first period and when I woke up from a non-existent sleep I thought left was right and up was down. I also thought that shampoo was tooth paste and ice cream was laundry detergent, but thats a different story that took place earlier and made me three minutes late. When I got in, Sister Agatha was looking at me warily and I thought she was going to have a heart attack. Did I mention that all the teachers here range from the ages of 80 and up? no? well now you know.
Sister Agatha was sitting behind her desk fanning herself. She pointed to the air conditioner and I turned it on. Why she couldn't do it herself I had no idea. But I wasn't going to risk getting her in a bad temper and make myself get detention. . . again. . .
When I turned around she pointed to a pile of books and I took the hint that I had to put them away. But when I went over to them, because they seemed like such a small pile, I realized that it was spring Inventory time and that she meant for me to categorize all of the books in the entire library. I was her only aid because everyone else wanted to have a life. I think I was the only one to be classified as a loner at this school. I sighed and was glad that this was a class I had for two periods straight. Thats right, two periods straight. Its because they don't have science in this school. You would think they would, but they don't. Instead, they have Bible Study! Hurah!
I actually think thats why this school is the way it is. Its like Hogwarts without the cool witchcraft and wicked awesome creatures. Hmmm....I think my friend Mandy would say, "Hogwarts for retards?" But, thats really messed up so I am just going to say Hogwarts on crack. Yes, that fits just right. Everything is screwy when on crack, thats why it works. I also get double credits for working in the library because no one else will and they think I will work here because I love books. Sister Agatha even said that she will reccomend me for the job if she ever leaves. Chances are, if she dies, I'd get the job anyways.
After I finished a whole table of books stacked up so high that it went above my head I stretched and sat down. I didn't love the library for the books, I'll tell you that right now. I love the library because of the decor. Vaulted ceilings, gargoyles, paintings that look like they were down by Botticelli. I also love art and architecture if you haven't noticed.
I sat in the chair twirling a strand of my hair in my fingers, amazed at how silky it felt, when someone walked in. I tilted my chair to see Mark walk in and try speaking to Agatha, he was whispering and I could hear what he was saying because of the echo. This room is so cool. First time I came in I squealed and said, "I LOVE IT!" so loud that Agatha jumped in her seat and almost had a heart attack.
I stood from my seat and walked over to him, maybe he was lost.
"Hey Mark." I said softly. I looked over and saw that Agatha to see, that she was indeed asleep, just like her. she sleeps almost all the time, maybe she should be in a nursing home. . .
"Oh! Cassandra! Hello." He smiled brightly and I swear that I was blinded.
"Ummm...yeah...Cassie and Cass are the accepted names. No one in thier right mind would call me what you just called me." I said when my eyes were adjusting. Seriously, Cassandra? Only my grandmother and people who looked down on me called me that.
"Oh, sorry Cass." He smiled again and I was smart enough to look anywhere but his face. "I am going to be an aide here so I figured I'd introduce myself to. . . Umm. . ." He looked at Agatha and I smirked.
"Sister Agatha is asleep right now, she is like the security Cat." I snickered and saw the bewilderment on his face. I smiled and lead him to another table full of books. There were twenty tables piled high, and these are the kinds of tables and books you would find in a college, well, ize-wise anyways. I filled him in on what to do and told him that if he needed any help to come and ask me.
When third period came around we only had three tables left and I was ready to collapse from not sleeping. I asked him if he could stop wearing so much cologne, and he said that he had to wear because it protected him from some people. But he wouldn't wear so much if it would let me sleep easier. I was guessing he meant Louis, but I didn't ask.
As soon as lunch came, I looked around for Rachelle and she was surrounded by her new friends, every table was full and the outside was crowded. Lucky me, I knew no one would go to my willow tree. Thats right, Its mine now. See, no one goes near the roses because there are a ton of bees there, and no one goes to the willow tree because there are centipedes, worms, fireflies, and a bunch of other bugs there. I watch where I sit though and the bugs don't seem to bother me because I don't bother them. Walking into the field I heard people ask why I was heading the way I was and some people reply some things nice and some things mean. I am guessing the new kids were asking and the old kids were replying.
The path I walked was laced with thorns and I was careful not to touch them. The roses were all red, some darker than others but most of them were a creamy hue of blood. when I got to the willow tree I swept back the veil and walked in. I love willow trees. Its like a tent. Behind the willow tree was a little pond, again, no one goes there. Just because its so close to nature they don't want to go there. They would rather stay inside and play with their toys. Its really weird.
I sat down in the place I sat earlier when I tried to cool down and soon nodded off. I didn't dream, but I heard a voice. some people could call that dreaming, but I wouldn't. Especially when that voice was waking me up.
"Cass, come on, the bell rang. Cass?" I slowly inhaled a deep musky scent that I hated and started to slowly enjoy. I opened my eyes and saw Mark and groaned. "Hey there beau..." He didn't finish his sentence because as soon as I realized the first thing he said about the bell running I ran off to get to class. Only two periods left and I could skip dinner and go to bed.
I didn't make it to sixth period. I fell asleep in the hallway when walking to it. No one saw me black out and no one heard my skull crack against the floor. That gross unclean floor. But, lucky for me, a third grader saw me after a nice pool of blood had circled around my head. When I woke up I was in the nurses office with a huge headache. I felt my head and found that they had bandaged me up. I wondered how long I had been out, most likely a few hours. But when the nurse walked in she looked surprised and called out into the hall way telling someone I was awake, "finally".
"Oh dear! You were out for quite some time! Don't worry though, Mark and Louis said that they would help you out with your classes. You have great roommates." she smiled and I had a befuddled look on my face. What the hell did she just say?! Before I could ask her to ask what happened, Mark and Louis walked in. Louis had a mask over his face and ran to the farthest end of the room away from the stench of cologne that gave me an even worse of a headache. I asked if I could borrow a mask and Mark looked a little depressed when I said that with a disgusted face on. Louis smiled, I could tell because his eyes crinkled.
when I finally got back to my room, I found that there was a bunk bed on one side of the room and another on the other side. Rachelle was sitting on one side and was crying. when she saw me she stood up and hugged me tightly. apparently she blamed herself for my not sleeping and blacking out. I laughed and hugged her back. mark and Louis said that they found a way to cope with the smell and snake problem so that we could all sleep in the same room. Neat huh? Sadly, that wasn't the last of my problems. That night, we all stayed awake. This time, it was because of paper thin walls and the two next door. And guess what, next door, there was only a bathroom.
We all huddled in the farthest corner and tried to fall asleep there. Mark wasn't wearing his cologne and Louis didn't mind Rachelle and I sitting on his bed. He had bottom bunk. Mark didn't like us all giggling at the noises from the next side and suggested music. That didn't help much because we had to keep it low. Rules and regulations.
when the noises stopped, we thought it was over, but it was just the beginning of round never ending! All I know, is that when I woke up, I was in a Mark, Cass, Louis sandwich and Rachelle was taking pictures and giggling.
