The Journal of A Writer To Be
This is a journal of a girl who is a writer to be. I will someday I will live from my pen, my words, my voice.
Salvage One
“Industry” I thought as I looked out the window.

“Darling this piece is $250, shall we take it?” I voice called out to me.

But, I refrained to speak or to hear. I just looked out the window and focusing on the misty, gray skies above.

I sigh, “Honey” I hear the voice once more time. I turn around, to face him once more.

“It’s a good deal”, I say to Aleck, my husband of a long and dreaded month. “We’ll take it Aleck says to the salesman, then Aleck, my supposed “true love” for life walks up to me. He rests his hand on a shoulder that will never be his.

“Anne, for what is wrong? You’ve been like this ever since you saw the doctor today.”

“I’m fine.” And I flash the fake smile that always works. I lie as always and he always believes me.

I leave the room disgusted, for the lies would come back to haunt me someday. And it had, today, unfortunately. For the doctor had given me news, I did not and at the same time, news that I wanted to hear.

For what do you do when an arranged marriages ruins your love life. Aleck was partnered by my mother’s description of me.

Aleck is so sweet to me, he is charming, he would have my friendship but, never my love. Now I was stuck to my best friend in holy matrimony. But, before the vows, I was in love with another man. I had seen 3 days before the wedding.

And know, it hit me like a moving train. I thought one night wouldn’t change anything, big news for me. One night can change everything.

For the future of the child, of my child, I was going to get a divorce and marry the man I truly loved, before the time bomb, my child, went off.

My DNA tests had come back. And the child should live with its biological father and mother. Not it’s true mother and her best friend; he should stories of true love not of forced love.

“Aleck” I sighed, I did not go back with him.

“Aleck, we need to talk.” He didn’t care; he smiled as he wiped his card.

He grabbed my hand and I shook it away. He looked up at me strange and grabbed my hand once more. “How I could I forget I’m his property now.” I pondered.

“What is it honey?” his smile, pathetic, I wanted to never see his face again except in court.

“I want a divorce.” I got it out of my system.

“What?!” His jaw dropped

“I’m leaving you. I’m 20, I’m a woman and I don’t have to do every stupid thing my parents tell me to. So I’m moving out, the trucks are already at the house.”

“Does this have to do with the doctor.”

I looked up, not wanting to answer the question “See you at court.” And I walked away, the sky losing the gray overcast that had been there this entire time.

I smiled for real ever since that mistake wedding. It was a new frontier, a new begging.

I have saved one, me.
