Being born without wings, Dandelion was tormented for her whole life by those who had. So, feeling dejected, and fed up of walking, she decided to steal some from a bird, which she could attach and detach whenever she wanted. She was delighted by the feel of the wind on her face as she soared to new heights.
Unfortunately, once the fairy council heard of her foul deed, they decided to punish her by permanently fixing the wings to her body, but taking from her the gift of flight.
Alone she wandered into the woods, burdened by the now unwanted feathers upon her back and arms.
She could not go anywhere without the birds either attacking or flying away from her, the story of wingtheft having spread far and wide.
In the midst of depression she was found by a young orphan child, who had run from her adoptive parents. The orphan now follows Dandelion around, shooing off the birds, and helping her with anything she can.
Though not a happy pair, Dandelion and the orphan now rely heavily on each other for company and life.
