I woke up the next morning to find myself alone within the elders house. Looking outside one of the windows, I see Frenum talking with a few of the angel citizens. Since he was out of his house, now was the best time, if any, to contact an old friend of mine. I pulled an odd pan flute from my pocket, and played it. To many ears, the sound that comes from this flute can't even be heard, but to the few that still live on within a certain organization, it was the calling card. Seconds after playing it, a spy appeared before me from the shadows. He knelt down before me and spoke. ????: "...Jared. It's been a long time since you've called upon us." Jared: "I would've contacted you sooner, but with the war-" ????: "Don't worry, I'm very aware of what happened." Jared: "Someone else hire your services during the war?" ????: "The need for the Dark Wind grows everyday. War will continue throughout the ages, and we will be there to it's end." Jared: "That's true I suppose." ????: "So? What do you call upon us for? And I hope you have the proper fee lined up..." Jared: "Well, I need you to deliver a message for me." ????: "Really? Is that all?" Jared: "To whom you deliver the message to, I want you to make it seem that way." ????: "I see...you want me to watch your client behind the scenes." Jared: "Exactly." After paying him, I then told him the message I wanted delivered and to whom I wanted it delivered to. ????: "Leave it to me sir." Jared: "I'm counting on you, Kage." Kage: "But of course." With that, he was gone, dissappearing from the shadows he came from.
I then headed outside to where Frenum was talking with some of the citizens. Hearing part of his conversation, it seemed like he was consoling them about something. I waited until he was done talking to them before I would say anything, but the second he sent them off, he turned to me. Frenum: "Ah, I see you finally awake. Come walk with me." With that, I walked alongside the elder as we continued yesterday's talk. Jared: "You said yesterday that the plague was a spell. Is there a way to dispell it?" Frenum: "With the nature of the spell, I'd say the only way to do so is to defend yourself successfully against the mind attack itself." Jared: "How exactly would one do that?" Frenum: "You saw it, didn't you? Through the vision, you saw everyone who had been affected by the spell. What were they doing Jared?" Jared: "...they were preparing themselves...to fight Lucifer..." Frenum: "They're doing everything they can to stop him. You will have to do the same." Jared: "...so you already know..." Frenum: "Yes...but for now, the other matter." Jared: "The other matter?...oh, about my 'curse.' To be honest, knowing what you do about that matter, I'm suprised you'd let me in this kingdom." Frenum: "Anything that would get rid of a threat such as that would not only help us, but the world. Wouldn't you agree?" Jared: "Funny. It sounds like you'd rather want me dead than the 'curse' itself." Frenum: "Of course not...but the evil etinity within you will come back. Something must be done soon." Jared: "And you have the answer. Well? What is it?" Frenum: "Look in front of you."
I realized that we had been walking for quite awhile. We were still within the kingdom of angels of course, but what laid before me was a very large chapel with a distinct aura about it. Jared: "This is..." Frenum: "The only way you will be able to cleanse yourself of the one known as the Soulless One is to purge it forcibly from your body, but in order for you to stand any chance of doing so is cleansing your body of the sins it has committed using your body. Within these walls, you will be able to do so. Also, if you do this, you will be able to break the spell upon the people of this land eaiser." Jared: "I see. So I have battle Zarak, just like Lucifer I suppose." Frenum: "...Zarak...you mean...you know who he is?" Jared: "I do. He is a part of me, I see what he sees, I remember what he remembers." Frenum: "...I must know. Tell me."
Jared: "...if you insist. Long ago, before he was known as the Soulless One, Zarak was a human paladin that fought for his people and kingdom, just like any other knight. The only difference was that his swordsmanship was incredible, none could best him. With those skills, he fought many of the dark races and was never defeated, but he never once raised his sword against one of his own. Eventually, that changed. In time, his mind became corrupt, and he fought not for his kingdom, but for the fight itself. Battlelust had taken over him quickly, and soon after, that changed to straight up bloodlust. One of his fellow knights saw him eating away at the dead body of a demon he had slain, Zarak saw him, and he was killed as well. He had became, literally, a cannible for war. The limits of who he would kill were gone, everyone was fair game. The only way to stop it was to send all the knights after him. Even that wasn't enough, but the other races knew this. A world war was starting with only one person being the enemy, but that one single enemy almost ended the world. Finally, he was defeated after a long and horrid battle. Almost half the population of the land was killed as a result. That wasn't the end of him, of course, for he found a way to be revived. To inhabit the bodies of the living through a pact with the dark forces...and rest you know already."
Frenum: "...I see. Jared...I can't let you do this." Jared: "What? Why!?" Frenum: "If you go through with this, Zarak will indeed be freed from your body, but he will inhabit another." Jared: "No, he won't. I don't plan on getting him out of my body, he and I wouldn't want that. I plan on destroying him." Frenum: "That, unfortunetly, is something I can't trust you on." Jared: "Then start! And you better tell me how to help my son and the others afterwards!" If he said anything else, it didn't matter. I didn't listen to him anymore, I learned what I needed to from him. I headed inside the temple, ready to face whatever challenges may be ahead...Zarak...your time will finally come! I swear it!
