Ode to the wrapper in the hallway after lunch

Dearest wrapper, brightly you lay,
Shining, gleaming, the sun during day.
Shallow love, beauty is paper thin
Lovely you are, but empty within.
Food’s shell, crumpled and torn.
Empty promise, in hunger I mourn

Brightly colored, calling your fares
Edible hawker, no more your wares.
Laying, lying, Abandoned, unwanted
Dull your promises, the silence is haunted.
Sad creature, wanted no more.
Hollow, tasteless, lone to the core.

Poor wrapper, lying in the hall.
People pass heedless to your call.
Your sweets eaten, appeal lost,
A shell of life, wanted like frost.
I pass you, filled with regret,
Pitiable wrapper I am doomed to forget.
