Feelings and thoughts are separate yet one
Some are dark like the night and some are bright like the sun.
When one take control and pushes the others away
What do you do to make it through the day?
When things fall apart and there's no joy to be had
How do you lift yourself back up and not be sad?
Is sadness so bad, is it something to be tossed
Or does it help define when there was something that was lost.
But sadness is temporary, just like everything else and is fleeting
For nothing truly stands still, but changes from meetings.
Though right now sadness may have a firm hold,
It can be broken by a simple "your loved" from an acquaintance so bold.
Or maybe by a simple gesture, from someone unknown
That brightens the mood and lets sunlight take phone home.
Through it all you have ties and connections
With family, friends and other you haven't met yet.
But all life is connected in some way or another
And everything has its part in this cosmic endeavor.
One extreme without the other, leaves no room for debate
For how can you truly love if there is no such thing as hate.
One thing defines the other and they become inexplicably linked
Follow one path too far and you lose sight of the brink.
For the edges are steep and one can easily fall
And not realize that they don't know what the feelings mean at all.
So rejoice in your ability to see yourself for who you are
Because most of the world can't except for mouthpieces from afar.
They have no individuality but just what others tell them to be
And never know the freedom of self-choice like you or me.
As a band once said "Be yourself, is all that you can do"
And don't let others mash you up into a carbon-copy goo
Of what they think or want to make you into
For you yourself ultimately decides what you must do.
Everyone big and small, sad or happy, dark or light has a part to play
In this river of time that runs through the cosmic array.
All things are recorded and everything has its place
Though the meaning of it all may only show itself a small trace.
Love one, love all and search for the strongest links
For these are the ones that will make your life not stink.
They are the ones who can lift you up with but a word
Even if you don't know it and think its absurd.
So ignore those who pose and try to mold you to their norm
For you are wonderful and great just the way you were born.
