So as I was searching for for information on my public policy the thought that a lot of money is wasted in war popped up again. I know technologies like GPS were invented in the defense budget. Now aside from finding the shortest route to save on gas I don't consider it relative on any level that defense spending benefits the Environment at all. So my point ties into the article I was looking at that said that even defense spending was going overboard really means that a lot of money that should be funneled into the Environment isn't getting there. So enough war I say. Even if we find and kill Osama Bin Laden, he has already one. The war has sucked up so much of the U.S. treasury that the U.S. gov't is ill equip to deal with the recession in a fully fiscally responsible manner.
Another thought that pops into my mind. When I was downtown in Buffalo once I asked my dad, why are these old empty buildings just sitting here not being renovated, He told me it was because they were so toxic. Still that does not answer my question. Even if they are toxic, you don't let them sit there. That would be like leaving an oil spill in the ocean, why, because it's toxic. I'm sure there are builders and companies to be found that could put in the money and effort to turn Buffalo's buildings around. It will take quite the lump sum I know and the Legislature is next to useless when it comes to such things, other than granting tax cuts perhaps. But still I've had the dream of seeing the Buffalo water front revived for a long time. Buffalo was the leader in the steel and big industry business. So why not jump on the new band wagon. The Green Industry, the new future for all of us.
