Burn the Witch! Burn the Thing!

The sight from the hill was graphic. Crowds of people, young and old, male and female. Every shape and size you would ever see. A column of smoke billowed up into a night sky, speckled with stars. The surrounding area was a small medieval village. Small cottages and houses all around a well in the center of the town. The whole town was around a pyre in front of the small well. Looking in closer the stake in the middle of the large pile of wood was a young girl. Only thirteen at oldest. An old women shouted, inaudible through the roaring cries of 'Witch! Thing!' Stones began to rain down upon the burning pyre. The girl in the middle, dressed all in black, black hair singed and flying in wind. The fire burned brighter. The smell of burning flesh was everywhere. The girl in the middle made no noise as flame engulfed her. Children around the fire where urged by their parents to toss a rock or scream at the girl. Parents held children up and laughed, screaming 'Burn!'. And the girl, stood, arms tied to the stake. Burning alive. In all the agony, not once did she mutter a word, nor cry out in pain. Though if you got a closer look you would have seen a solitary tear roll down a scorched cheek. And in the moments to come the girl's agony became too much. And she decided it was time to let go. She opened her mouth and in a whispering voice, filled with agony so thick you could feel it she said I hope... each of you... look at today... The burning of a girl... As old as your children... and realize... It could be your kid up here some day... on a simple mistake you could burn your own family... think next time... Consider if it's right... To take a life... and burn... And that was the end. With that last statement the girl who had been holding on, gave up. Another example of those killed for the sake of a thought of Magic. The thought of something against God. And that, was the end.
