A/N: I just got inspired by my own poem. WTF.
I've always wanted him to look at me.
"Oh my God, she actually did it!"
"Who's a chicken now?! HA!"
"Chicken Dance! Chicken Dance!"
"Like, ew!"
"What the hell? Idiot!"
"Hell, this is funny sh!t! Totally going on YouTube!"
But not like this.
I looked down at my chicken costume, and flushed a cherry red, before giving one last look to Josh -I trusted you- before turning, and running out the way I came.
I had never been so embarrassed in my life! And the one time I did, it had to do with him? Why me?
Rubbing my eyes on my arm (or wing) I ran to my car, and immediately took off the head encasing my face.
It was only then did I allow myself to cry.
"Hey, Josh, look at this!"
I looked at him, and glared. "What the hell was that, Jay?"
Jay looked at me like I said something wrong. "What? It's funny! Seriously, check it out!"
On his cell phone, there was a video of Paula entering with her chicken suit, and the burst of laughter when she first entered. The camera had zoomed up on her face, which was turning red. The sound of laughter and snide comments made my stomch churn. Jay was laughing like she was still here.
Suddenly, my hand slams the phone out of his hand, and sends it crashing to the ground with a satisfying crack. I stand.
"Dude, that was friggin' brand new, why did you-" he stopped when he saw the look in my eyes. He told me lter my eyes were almost red with anger, but that's another story. "Josh?"
"This is so messed up. Why did you do that to her? She was so excited to come, and I was too." Then it hit me. I was excited to have her here too. I wanted her to come. I stormed off in fury, and slammed the door on my way out.
Out of everyone at that party, she was the one I wanted to come the most. Paula was different than them, on so many levels. And on most of those levels she was way better.
I ran a hand through my hair. After only a few months, she had achieved her wish: I looked her way. And now I'm regreting it.

Paula Lopez was the loser combo of her school. Not only was she a nerd, she was a loner, a social-retard, the class-daydreamer, and she was a band geek. Even with the band, she had no where to fit in! That is, until she saw Josh Rodriquez.
Josh was popular, but he often had a far-off look in his eyes, like he wasn't fully there. For years, Paula would look into his light green eyes, and see her future reflecting back at her. Though she wasn't happy with their current relationship (a single sorry from him) she was content. But for every birthday wish, every falling star, and lucky penny, Paula would wish for one thing: "I wish Josh would look at me like I wasn't invisible. Just once."
But when they were partnered up for a project, Josh began to see things through Paula's point of view. How different things could be through a pair of glasses, and how truly one-of-a-kind Paula was. Now he has to choose: her, or his so-called friends.
