Masquerade Maid
Finally the masquerade had arrived. Ratsura put on her best work dress, a pretty wine and brown colored tavern dress with matching corset, and her polished mask. She nervously, grabbed her fan and walked to the castle. Entering the room, she breathed a sigh of relief. There were tons of people here, and she could just blend in. She smiled and went and sat in a chair. Finally, she heard a song she knew. Getting up, she seemed to sparkle as she twirled around on the floor, not caring she was dancing solo. She danced and danced. A man grabbed her hand, and she turned to face him. She couldnt imagine anyone wanting to dance with her. Her dress wasnt as nice as the others, and she was a dark elf. Not a lot of people cared for her kind. She noticed the man was a dark elf himself and she almost smiled. Blushing, she accepted his invitation to dance. They wove between all the other dancing couples, lost in their own little fantasy. The song ended and the man bid her a kind farewell. The rest of the night, Ratsura couldn't stop thinking of the man. She hadn't asked his name and she had not given hers. How stupid can I be? she thought, as the dance ended and everyone filed out. She knew then that she would regret ever coming to the event, only because she had fallen in love at first glance and by dance with a man she didn't even know. She felt like crying as she walked off the castle grounds. She walked through the park and sat on a bench facing the moonlit pond. She jumped as she heard a twig crack behind her. She turned around, only to face the man she had danced with! She couldn't think of anything to say as he approached her, a white rose in his hand. "Please...please tlel me your name." His voice was so beautiful to her. She swallowed and spoke. "It's Ratsura...Sura for short..." "What a beautiful name! Sura, I am known as Calrit. It seems, believe it or not, that in that one short dance, I have fallen for you...Please accept this rose." Sura, so happy, reached forward and grabbed the rose, and Calrit's hand. "Thank you, Calrit...It seems i have fallen for you as well." He smiled so wide, picked her up and twirled around. They danced along the banks of the pond the remainder of the night.
