For my first real post, I'll go with the first game I bought. This would be the first FPS I played on the 360 and I loved it. The feel was perfect, though I hated the actual Vs. mode, I loved playing Co-op and Terrorist hunt with my friends. I'll go into detail on that later. Lets begin.
Graphics: I found them to be more than adequate. I never once found a problem with the grapics where it would take my attention away from what I was trying to do. The only bad thing I could truly say here is the brightness. It was terribly low, especially on one level in particular. This can be solved by turning it up but I don't think that should be required. The night vision helped none. It was useless in every situation. All it did was turn everything green. If I had to give it a number, I'd say 7/10. It wasn't anything ground breaking, but it didn't look like something from the past gen.
Gameplay: I can not love this more. I had played Counter Strike, so I was used to run-n-gun type gameplay. This game teaches you the complete opposite. You try that and you get mowed down before you can get off more than ten shots. The game is all about cover, and while it wasn't the first game to implement a cover system, I thought it did a much better job than other games I had played that used one. While it was unrealistic to move to a third person camera when going into cover, I preferred it much more than a first person version for a couple reasons. First, it would have been annoying as all hell. If you would try to see what was on the other side, you would have gotten your skull blown off in seconds. Second, and this was the main thing I loved, is that it let you see your customized character in multiplayer. I'll get into that later. The guns felt good in terms of control and felt like they had substance as compared to firing a weapon and it feeling empty. Its hard to describe, but if you have played most FPSs, you might know what I mean. Though the cover system would mess up from time to time (your shoulder sticking out, glitching and standing up when it should crouch, etc.) it was nothing game breaking. I never found glitches that were game breaking, or any at all actually. The only thing missing was a sprint button. The times where you would need to move through an area with no enemies felt long and grueling considering you could, at best, move at a slow jog. Overall, I'd give it a 9/10.
Multiplayer: With a decent internet, this opened up a whole new world to you. You could enter a lobby which let you create your own custom character. You could choose your own gender, face features (pre-made or use a MS Life Cam to map your own face to your character), clothing, armor, and equipment. There is a huge diversity here. Not only were you allowed to do that but they added a "camo" system. This allowed you to customize the look of your clothing and armor by adding certain patterns of colors and shapes to your character. As you played the game, you earned Experience, which is used to advance your rank to unlock more weapons/armor/camos. To reach the highest rank, Elite, it would take quite a bit of work and the reward was a must have for some and a "******** THIS!" for others. It allowed you to make your own custom camo. You could pick from a hand full of patterns and blend four colors together to make your own look. Coupled with the amount of clothing/armor combinations, this allowed you to have a truly unique look. As for the Multiplayer itself, it was split into three categories. Campaign Co-op, Terrorist Hunt, and Versus. Campaign Co-op was exactly what it sounds like, playing through the Single Player missions with up to three other friends. Amazing fun. Then came Terrorist Hunt. This let you and three other players select a Versus map and spawn a given number of Terrorists at certain points (randomly generated using trigger points). This was the easiest and quickest way to grab experience, and one of the most popular. I spent 90% of my time on this game playing T-hunt with three friends. Last, but not least, is the Versus. This allowed up to 16 players to go into a Team vs. Team match on any given map, with a number of objectives, depending on the game type. Along with that came deathmatch, which was a 16 player free for all to see who was top gun. I loved the game, still do to this day, and would say if for nothing else, get it to play with friends. Overall Rating: 8/10
Story: As with most Tom Clancy games, the story was somewhat lacking. There were a couple twists and turns, a decent plot twist, and your standard "Stop the bad guys" FPS story movement. I can't say much, as few people play games like this for the story, but for what it was, it wasn't entirely that good. This was probably the lowest point in the game for me. While I enjoyed finding out what would happen next, I wouldn't recommend picking this up just for the story. Overall Rating: 6/10
Summary: Though this game is quite dated now, I would recommend it if you have a few buddies to play it with online.
Pros: +Amazing gameplay +Deep Customization System +Incredibly fun, long lasting Multiplayer
Cons: -Substandard Story -Graphics could have been slightly more polished
Overall: 8/10
