Today was, is…whatever Wednesday. You may recall the beginning of this whole thing where I said it was the worst day of my life? Yeah, well, I lied. This innocent Wednesday was the worst day of my life. EVER. It all started with a dream; yes actually one of those dreams. Let me take you through it. I must warn for some of you, this may be more graphic then you’re used to.
This is how my dream went, starting from a few minutes before I woke up.
[graphic scence taken out to fit by Gaia's lawwwz :[ ]
“********!” I lifted up my sheet. “CRAP!”
This had to be the most embarrassing thing I had ever done in my entire life. I moved out of my bed and ran into the bathroom to have an extremely cold shower.
Once I was finished I ran back to my room and stared at my sheets.
“What am I going to doooo?” I hurried and got dressed then grabbed my sheets and pajama pants and some other ‘dirty’ clothes and ran into the laundry room. I quickly turned it on and hurried back to my room.
“Oh crap…what happens if I see Greg! Oh god…oh no…” I put my head in my hands and looked at the clock. “s**t! I have to get to Sarah’s!” I grabbed my bag, ran out of my room, and down the stairs then out of the house.
I will tell you one thing. If you’re late to Sarah’s house in the morning no matter what, you die. Fortunately I think she might understand my reasoning for it today. Too bad I wasn’t going to tell her! No I can’t tell anyone, other than my journal!
Upon arrival Sarah’s house, I ran inside and found her sitting at her table. “S-sorry…I overslept.”
Something like that.
She glanced up at me. “I can tell from the fact that you clearly had to run all the way here. Take a breath, doofus, before you die from a lack of oxygen.”
I sighed and tried to breathe. “Right, of course…” I stood up straight and went over to her table, grabbing a slice of toast off the marble counter.
She sighed and shook her head. “You’re such a puff head.”
I blinked and stared at her. “You mean airhead?”
“No! If I meant airhead, don’t you think I would have said that? I meant Puff Head.”
“Fine then…what exactly is a puff head?” Unfortunately I didn’t really hear what she said as my mind began to wander back to my dream, which caused me to blush and jump up.
“WE NEED TO GO!” I turned and headed for the door, not pausing to wait for her as I exited and started down the street. Soon I heard her light footsteps behind me as she caught up.
“What is your problem today, V?”
I sighed and looked at the ground. “I don’t know…I am just a little jumpy is all.”
We continued to walk down the street and as we got closer to the school, I became more nervous. I was going to have to see Greg in gym class for swimming. Oh god…Greg in a tight swim suit. I blushed violently and moved faster.
“I have to use the bathroom I will see you in class!” I ran the rest of the way to school and hid in the bathroom trying to compose myself before having to go to class.
“I will just have to avoid him that’s all. I will have to avoid him for the rest of the day.” I nodded with resolve and exited the bathroom.
Avoid him I did. I might say I did an amazing job of it, too. I even ate in the bathroom like a freshman dork, but whatever I didn’t have to see his face and remind myself of that dream, so goal achieved! However while I was hiding in the bathroom at lunch, I met up with none other than Ronald.
“Hey Ronald. Can I call you Ron?” It was a random question and he looked at me from where he was standing to where I was sitting, which was on a toilet eating a sandwich.
“Um sure…I guess.”
I smiled. “So what are you doing in this bathroom at this time?”
He shrugged. “Um, using the bathroom?”
I nodded. I suppose that is a more logical reason than why I was in the bathroom.
“Hey…um, Preston. I am going to visit my brother in the hospital tonight…do you want to come with me?”
I looked up at him, surprised at his request. “Of course, I would love to go! What hospital? I’ll meet you there!”
He took a few minutes to process that I had said yes, and then he smiled. “Great, it is St. Phil’s Hospital on Main Street.”
I nodded and stood up. “Well, lunch wave is almost over so I am going to go to class. I’ll see you at the hospital then…around five or when are you going?”
“I’ll be there around five, yeah.” I nodded and he nodded, thus settling our plans. So there you have it I made plans to go see Ron’s older brother, and I only had half of a school day left to avoid Greg. Brilliant! Or not.
You see, no matter how hard I avoided Greg, he still managed to find me as I was leaving school.
“Pres! Hey Pres… I haven’t seen you all day!” I shivered and avoided eye contact with the object of my dreams.
“I-I know, I have been a little busy…” I felt a hand on my shoulder as he spun me around. I looked up at him, but all I could see was the Greg from my dream. I gulped and glanced back at the ground.
“Come on Pres, I gotta tell you this story!” He laughed and started walking with me.
I wasn’t really paying attention to him. All I could do was look at his hands, the hands that had been gripping my hips so tightly in my dream. I shook my head in an attempt to clear my head of those thoughts. I really needed something to distract me, and thankfully that happened, for I saw off in the distance someone running towards me being chased by four angry policemen. It was not until he was practically on me that I realized he was one of the men that had been hanging around my house the other day.
“You! You gotta help me! Call Tabby!” I gasped, my eyes widening as he gripped my collar and shook me. I knew he was talking about Tabitha but I couldn’t believe he had just approached me in front of Greg. I glanced over at Greg fearfully.
“G-get off of me, you creep!” I tried to push him away, but he continued to scream.
“Call Tabby! Now!” The police came up and three of them pulled out handcuffs. I stared in shock as I saw the three sets ofhandcuffs. I yelped as I was slammed to the ground and cuffed along with the thug and poor Greg.
“Hey! Mister cop, we have nothing to do with this guy! He just came out of nowhere!” Greg was shouting and struggling. I just stared at the ground in horror and fear. The cops shouted at us that we had the right to remain silent as they hauled us up from the ground. I yelped loudly as my cop’s fingers dug into my arm painfully.
“P-please let us go! We haven’t done anything!” I looked around as we were dragged down the road to the waiting police cars.
This could not be happening to me. I mean this crazy mob guy comes up out of nowhere and tells me to call Tabitha, and now he got me arrested. I was sitting in the back of a police car with Greg, who was yelling insanely by the way. I stared at the ceiling. What was the guy even thinking? I mean, come on, running up to me with a non-mob member like that. Did he actually think that I would call Tabitha at the moment? Hell no, I was going to act like I had never seen him before in my life, because strangely enough, I value it.
Eventually we reached the precinct and were forced out of the car. I winced as I was brutally manhandled again. I guess they don’t take kindly to mob “members”. I went through the motions of being in arrested for this sort of thing: DNA sample, fingerprints, photos, and everything else before the three of us were stuffed in to a holding cell. I winced as the handcuffs were removed, and moved into the corner of the cell. Greg looked at me before sitting next to me and glaring at the nameless failure of a mob member.
“You sick ******** head! You just randomly select us out of all the people on the streets to drag down with you.”
The mob member growled. “Well if he had just called Tabby like he was supposed to, we wouldn’t be here!”
“Would you please stop?! I don’t know who you are, or what you’re talking about!” I curled into a ball. “I just want to go home.” Greg patted my shoulder and glared at the mob member.
And so we waited, for hours and hours, until it was well past six o’clock. I sighed, but looked up as soon as someone walked in. It was a cop. He came over and opened the gate.
“Kids, get out. You, stay.” He pointed at the mob member. “We want to apologize for mixing you up. However with the mob, you can’t take any chances.” I nodded briefly and followed Greg out of the holding cell.
As we walked, I began to talk to him for the first time since we got there. “I’m sorry, Greg. If you hadn’t been with me when he ran up to me, then you never would have gotten stuck in this.”
He shook his head. “It’s okay, Pres, I’m glad I was with you.”
We walked out, and Greg walked over to some adults in the corner. I assume they were his parents. I glanced around and saw that no one was there for me. Of course no one was there for me, why would someone come for me? I looked over at Greg and the clock and gasped loudly.
“s**t! It’s 6:30!”I turned and ran out of the station without looking back at Greg. I missed the time I was supposed to meet Ron’s brother. I didn’t even know if the hospital was still open for visiting hours. I ran down the street and took a left until I was on Main Street.
I quickly hurried into the hospital and up to the front desk.
“Um hey I…crap, I don’t know his name…um… he is Ronald’s brother. Ronald Webbs’s brother.” The nurse looked at me and then clicked on her computer.
“Jay Webbs.” She grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down a room number. “Third floor, it’s the hall on the left. Just knock on the door before going in. I need you to sign this, though.” I blinked and wrote my name down on the paper before running off. It took me three minutes to find an elevator, four minutes to get to the right hallway, and another minute and a half to find the room. Really, who designed this hospital? It was like a maze, I swear.
Once at the room I knocked then poked my head in, and thankfully saw Ron still sitting there looking a little sad.
“Uh…um, Ron? Hi…uh I am sorry I’m late.” I walked in and glanced over at Ron’s brother. He was lying still on the bed, hooked up to machines that had to be keeping him alive in his comatose state. His eyes were closed peacefully, and his light brown hair was swept across the pillow, it reached his shoulders so I assumed he must have been here for a while.
“Preston! No, it’s okay.”
“I…something happened…Greg and I got caught up in a mob arresting…somehow…I have been stuck in a cell the last few hours.” I sat down in the chair beside Ron. “How is he?”
“Well, he is okay I can keep him on the breathing thing for another few months, but soon I am going to run out of money…”
“Well, maybe I can help.” I probably could, it’s not like the mob is poor or something. It’d be a better use of their money than anything they would use it on.
“That would be great, Preston.” I smiled as we continued to sit there. So that was how I spent the rest of my day; sitting and chatting with Ron and watching his brother.
Eventually, though, I had to go. I stood up and Ron joined me. He mumbled he had to go to the bathroom and disappeared. I blinked, wondering if you’re supposed to leave a guest with your comatose brother. It seemed like an odd thing to do, but whatever. I took a step closer and put my hands on the edge of the bed leaning over to look at this person Ron seemed to talk a lot about.
All in all, he seemed fairly normal. He was rather good looking. He looked tall, though. He had a few freckles. I guess he played in the sun.
However, I was not expecting his eyes to open, and I was not expecting him to grab my hand like that. I yelped as suddenly his eyes opened and he gasped for air around the tubes, his hand gripping my arm. I froze as I heard the heart machine race.
Then I did the only thing I could think of and hit the call nurse button. Looking down, my eyes connected with his, and I froze again unable to look away as I stared into the chocolate pools that were Jay Webbs’s eyes. Immediately I felt a feeling come over me, one I happened to be familiar with.
So that’s what happened and that’s all for today. Bye!
